For anybody considering getting back into torrenting here's some browser security recommendations to prevent viruses and click-jacking. (WEBSITE & SOFTWARE RECOMMENDATIONS AT BOTTOM OF POST)

I'm using Waterfox, doesn't have the latest Firefox stuff but it has managed to hang on to the old extension compatibility. And it has all the reporting and tracking info that goes back to Mozilla disabled by default.

As far as adblockers go, I recommend:
(caution: more you install = greater chance of site breakage that will need addons to be configured/disabled on, some addons are more often culprits than others, remember to disable the addons for important websites like banking or shopping)

'uBlock Origin'
for ad removal & tracking filters, more filters here: filterlists.com

'uMatrix'
(read before using: github.com/gorhill/httpswitchboard/wiki/How-to-use-HTTP-Switchboard:-Two-opposing-views )
for script & general safety

'Popup Blocker (strict)'
for popups
(can break special site functions, recommended to disable for important things like banking and shopping)

'Ghostery'
(rule-based)
(Warning: will break sites, if not selectively disabled, adv. users only)
&
'Privacy Badger'
(behavioral)
for tracking prevention

'Decentraleyes'
to prevent repeated, often unnecessary, CDN resource requests (limits exposure to possible tracking)

'Skip Redirect'
to skip intermediate pages that track users
(can break special site functions, recommended to disable for important things like banking and shopping)

'Neat URL'
to clean hyperlink garbage (often contains tracking referrers)

'HTTPS Everywhere' (rule-based)
&
'Smart HTTPS' (behavioral) (can be annoying when the site does not support https, selective disable)
for encryption enforcement

'Privacy Possum'
&
'CanvasBlocker'
to prevent browser "fingerprinting" (see: wikipedia.org/wiki/Canvas_fingerprinting & browserleaks.com/canvas#how-does-it-work )
(set and forget)

BONUS Add-ons:

'Tor Control (anonymity layer)'
is also good for temporary proxy tunneling, to hide IP address, when needed (such as geoblocked content).

'Privacy Settings'
for customisation of built-in privacy settings through a simple panel as opposed to about:config
(can still be confusing, for advanced users)

'Terms of Service; Didn’t Read'
get informed instantly about websites' terms & privacy policies, with ratings and summaries from the www.tosdr.org initiative

'Invidition'
redirects YouTube links and embeds to their Invidious counterpart without any call to YouTube

'Snowflake'
this extension turns your browser into a proxy that connects Tor users in censored regions to the Tor network, although your ip is still hidden
does nothing for /YOU/, only to help others escape censorship; for the white-hat seeders among you

'uBO-Scope'
if you're curious to see who you're still making connections to, after installing all those...
(can be useful to see who you want to block with a rule in uMatrix, if you suspect tracking)

P.S. Don't forget to seed, it's how anybody is capable of getting anything. I usually seed to a minimum ratio of 3 to prevent hit-&-run, then switch the torrent to seed until the health of the torrent has at-least 3 independent seeders, to be certain that the torrent is left in a healthy state.
