- People seem to think the founders having an even more exclusionary concept of white is a blow for us. Well, we don't actually base our opinions on the founders or founding documents. Conservatives do. This is just a way to bypass that non-argument. By showing that the founders, earliest laws, and even the founding documents themselves are more consistent with us than with diversity. The declaration says 'ourselves and pur posterity' and was drafted by a slaveowner while the constitution affirmed slavery. The idea that the equality of man line should be taken as an affirmation of diversity in light of this is patently absurd.
- This is simply mixing up the terms people are debating from. It is conservatives who think the founding impedes racialist ideas or prohibits harsh and restrictive stances on immigration and citizenship. We don't justify white nationalism with the founders, except to show we follow in their legacy rather than somehow betraying it. Because our views are closer to the historical norm, so there is a tradition being adhered toif one thinks these arguably bad faith appeals are what matter.
- And if you want to argue values changed, well we say they changed for the worse and that the values the nation was founded upon will be snuffed out by demography, again for the worse. Moreover, appeal in to change gives us license to change things ourselves. Conservatives know this, so they make the Founding a decisive statement on what we are as a country
