- Listening to the rising sea
- as it splashes over me,
- the only thing I see
- is this blue, open and free.
- My boat crashed days ago,
- I still cling on, wood sinking slow,
- hopes fade though,
- letting go with the wind's final blow,
- I can see a shore in the distance
- as I loose sense of my existence,
- my previous insistence
- slips through the cracks of my stone subsistence.
- I look to the sky,
- gray clouds fly by,
- thick, dark, and yet very dry,
- bleary eyed, blink salted eyes.
- Acutely aware of the waters embrace,
- caressing you in time and space,
- as you are erased, slowly efface.
- Hold your breath, sink without a trace.

- Would it be equally surprising
- if I kicked someone who has unofficially resigned?
- You seem to react when its on paper,
- but when it's been a slow decline,
- you neglect the truth as if it did not exist.
- Continue to live in your ignorant bliss,
- continue to be disappointed when they say goodbye,
- or open your eyes and see the world for what it is,
- and save your surprise for something meaningful.
- Your blood curdling yells of disbelief shall subside to a quiet sobering,
- continued quiet smoldering
