- Skim/Read the three article excerpts. Does the information support the statements on the back of the page?
- 1 yes - first excerpt: “inability of world governments to agree on fishing limits”
- 2 no - third excerpt: “increased demand has encouraged countless tilapia farms to open in China” (nothing about decreasing wild populations)
- 3 yes - second excerpt: “if something isn’t done to meet the demand another way [such as farming], by the middle of the century even something as common as tuna may become a delicacy” (he’s worried about how ocean fishing may affect wild fish populations, so farming would be a good way to avoid the problem of potential extinction)
- 4 no - mercury is a worry in wild fish, not farmed fish (according to 1), tilapia is farmed (3)
