He's walking home on an eve of Christmas
Hands behind his slouched back
Looking under the guidance of the street lamps
Taking his time himself he reminds
That a little boy he is no more

What may come as a surprise
To him is just another day
For all the little boys that haven't grown to get
What ma and pa of toys to give
Will offer a plate of food instead

As he walks with his tilted hat
He gives the happiness that he hadn't bought
He wonders why his parents had not forgot
That when he was a little boy
The simplest of a toy
Is all he could ever ask for

And one more day is just another way
To remind himself what he has
This grown man is still a little boy
Every Christmas he has the same old toys
Given to him by his ma and pa
What better gifts than thankfulness and joy
