"It's a small star, 9% the mass of our Star."

"A red dwarf, then?"

"Not at all, that's the interesting part," said Kevin. He handed over a tablet with a picture of the star.

"I'm assuming that's accurate visual spectrum."

"Indeed it is, Grak."

"Well then we have a problem, Captain."

Jennifer joined Captain Kevin and Grak at the table. "Problem?" she asked.

"Yes," said Grak, and he handed over the data tablet.

"Oh point oh-nine Solar masses, oh point two solar radii, fifty five hundred kelvin. My that is once hell of a hot subdwarf."

"Captain, we must alter course at once," said Grak.

"Well a superheated subdwarf is a little interesting, but is it really 'alter course' interesting? We do have a mission to account for," said Jennifer.

"No no, captain, jennifer, look at these readings from the Thaumometer."

"Yes, I saw, fifty five hundred kelvin."

"No, no, Thaum-o-meter," corrected Grak.

"Oh my god. That's ten to the twenty nine Thaums per second!" said Jennifer.

"We may have just discovered the hypothetical Magic Star," said Captain Kevin.

"Wait, is it really called just 'magic star?' I mean that's a bit simplistic don't you think?"

"Naming aside, do you know what this could mean? The balance of power could be totally thrown off if any given government were to discover this star!"
