  2. Castle Full'a Rascals:
  3. On my first reading, I thought this was a fine enough strategy, but I wasn't all that impressed. Quite simply, however, the second time though my mind was totally changed; this strat is seriously excellent. The use of downtime for the kind of setup T2S and Hive rely on for maximum effectiveness was incredibly efficient and I have no doubts that you'll have what you need to pull off many of your plays, though not necessarily unimpeded by BLS. I'll give special props to two particular aspects right here.
  4.
  5. First, the clear level of research used for the physics and chemistry of the rink with regard to the plan to spread the Oyster Cults impressed me, and the trickery used on Minnesota and Skippa Flippa seems like it'll work just fine. I've always been of the mind that without a charisma-type skill, you're going to need a damn good setup to trick or convince NPCs to do things, but it's not impossible and you certainly pull it off well enough here.
  6.
  7. Secondly, I really appreciated the wide variety of options you accounted for regarding BLS's plays (and your own), creating a really comprehensive feel to this plan. Do I think everything you do will be effective enough to counter all of their stuff? Honestly, no, but it's still good enough that I'm going to surprise myself here with a 9/10 for you.

  9. Black Label Society:
  10. The first time I read the strats, I expected you to take this handily, but spoiler alert: you're not getting a 10. That's not because my opinion on this one worsened by any stretch of the imagination, just that my opinion on the other one improved. You're getting a 9/10 too, so let me get into why.
  11.
  12. Where CFR displayed an excellent understanding of the physical makeup of a curling rink and its equipment and the reasons for all of this, you displayed a superior understanding of the rules and play of the game itself, which makes for a stronger core of the strat. Of course, this is a sports match all about Stand Cheating, so let's get into that.
  13.
  14. Where CFR was comprehensive, you were detailed. Each throw builds on the actions of the last one without necessarily stumbling should a prior section not succeed. Suicide Solution was the Stand most obviously suited for this match, and in my eyes, it was used exactly how it needed to be, with some bonus points for the use of its physical shape as well. The New Flesh was used well enough for its purposes, but Adam really shone in the JoJolity category (emphasis on gory), which I'll get into next.

  17. So the strategies here are both pretty comprehensive, good usage of game and environmental sense, and have a good bit of research behind them too.
  18. I'm going to start on CFR's strat, I will preface this saying most of what I have to say is going to be nitpicks, but they are worth mentioning for future reference as well as points to think about. For using GS and EF as a power generator, I dont think that's the most efficient method, at least with GS involved you will still have to regulate their heat which takes away part of the conversion efficiency. Melting and refreezing the ice I am a bit skeptical on since you are planning to defrost the entire 150 foot sheet of ice, even with gaining heat back from refreezing, you still lose heat each time due to part of it being used to reach melting point in the first place. I think its a slight overestimation of how much heat will get stored up to say the least. Then onto repebbling using an OC-water solution, I'd wager its more of a net neutral than a net positive honestly, imperfect pebbles will effect both players about the same and they both have effective ways to deal with it. The only real positive is the conductivity potentially, but I will get to that later.
  19.
  20. Melting then refreezing the pebbles perfectly afterwords isn't something that can be forced with precision alone on the refreezing part. Since the water molecules would literally have to be moved back into place, what you would need to do is to get the water to reform droplets to turn into ice pebbles, but T2S alone doing it is odd. I see the argument of using B precision to concentrate the freezing on points to form the droplets, but you still have to somehow move the water extremely precisely to get full effect after it has already melted and moved as water does, nothing worth losing points over especially since getting back all the pebbles isn't necessary, but just a note for if you attempt to freeze water into shape later.
  21. So for OC on blood, this is a weird area of stand ruling since OC specifies living being so in that case if it were able to effect blood at all it would latch onto a single cell rather than the whole pool of blood, otherwise weirder stuff starts happening where literally all of Adam's blood or Adam himself gets affected by proxy.
  22. Now getting the shocks off on BLS, I don't think it would be too plausible given how much water would be in the rink at any given moment. Ice sure, but liquid water is being refrozen by T2S in the previous part and melting some ice to splash them seems like a small bit of water to really make too much of an effect since ideally you want a line of water too them. None of this also accounts for the possibility of BLS dodging getting wet after the first few times if this works.
  23. Most of the strategy is well researched though and has a large amount of effort put behind it, I'm going to give this strategy an 8 with how it goes about scoring using melting ice and uses of physics. Again most of what was said above is more for future reference than anything else.
  24. For BLS, this strategy is fairly straight forward going through the entire game using both stand abilities and employing a few different strategies per end. The strat details the usages pretty cleanly and adds a nice bit of variety to the ends. I don't really have any complaints here, playing out a full match with some workable contingencies and solid play throughout the ends. I'm going to give this strategy an 8 since it was fairly comprehensive in what it plans to achieve, but I don't think there is too much to push it over the top for me.

  26. John Morris:
  27. BLS -
  28.
  29. Starting with our favorite visceral sports duo, I have to say I was very impressed by your strategy. The play-by-play detail, going into what you do each throw, how you compound off of previous plays, and improving each time.
  30.
  31. You had a strong strat all around, both your stands taking great control over the sheets and manipulating the path of the stones to your advantage quite well.
  32.
  33. I don't have a ton to say here. You used your abilities in straightforward ways but demonstrated a pretty good knowledge of how the game works, you had detailed plans, and solid defenses against manipulation from your opponents.
  34.
  35. I'll give this one an 8/10. Again, it was pretty straightforward but was pretty airtight and entertaining, just nothing particularly incredible to bring it to a 9 or 10.
  36.
  37. CFR -
  38.
  39. This was a really cool strategy all around. Manipulating the nature of the rink to not only help guide your stones in your favor, but by you time as they have to switch sheets after inspecting is a really clever manipulation of the rules. There was clearly a good level of research done into the specifics of the physics of curling so hats off to you for that.
  40.
  41. Whereas you don't quite go into the detail that BLS does with your plays, I think you still capture the level of quality involved as you do a great job of manipulating the arena, and have a wide net cast as to defense against BLS' plays.
  42.
  43. I think overall your plays are very solid, with some good interference on BLS. I went back and forth between giving you an 8 or a 9, but I think I'm going to give you an 8/10 here. I was a bit more impressed with your manipulation of the environment and rules than BLS, but my fellow judge raised some valid concerns as to the efficiency and viability of the specifics of your defrosting and re-pebbling strats that I think keeps it from reaching a 9, but you still did a great job overall.
