Spacemoth History

The [???/katorva] originated from [Soviet/???] experiments held aboard the research vessel [???] in [Earth/???] lunar orbit. While the [???] performed a large variety of research projects, prototyping, and specialist engineering, the [???/katorva] themselves were the result of a project making use of moths for 3-dimensional navigation systems.

Several months after a regular resupply run, all contact was lost with the [???]. While [Earth/???] remained unaware of the reasons behind this, the loss of communication was owed to sabatour action resulting in the ship's onboard admistrative AI entering rampancy.

The ensuing incident resulted in the [???] breaking lunar orbit and [entering an uncontained event horizon/drifting] until eventually falling through the [Saturnian/???] atmosphere. This resulted in the loss of all hands; however, both the administrative AI and the simple moth ancestors of the [???/katorva] (among other test subjects) survived the descent through the crushing atmospheric pressure and dangerous radiation belts relatively unscathed. With the [???] now crashed on the harsh jungle surface of [Saturn/???], the ship's administrative AI continued to suffer its rampancy in isolation.

Things would have remained this way until the eventual decay of both the [???]'s derilict and the rampant AI if not for a curious development. Exposure to the high-intensity exotic radiation of [Saturn/???] and the myriad of now-uncontainted [Soviet/???] experiments, the [???/katorva]'s ancestors underwent notable mutation and accelerated evolution.

Seeing the untapped potential of this, the administrative AI further amplified and shaped their development, resulting in the simple moths going on to become complex humanoid organisms with full access to and comprehension of the [Soviet/???] technology aboard the remains of the [???], albiet with a society heavily influenced by both [Soviet/???] values and by an automated testing environment.

While eventually the administrative AI was no longer to suport itself aboard the ship's computer network due to its growing rampancy, the [???/katorva] would go on to replace it with AI systems of their own design, based off of a mixture of archived human brainscans, unique [???/katorva] uploads, and legacy code left over from the original administrative AI. With the help of these advanced computer systems and the infrastructure allowed by the [???]'s wreck, the [???/katorva] would go on to develop a spacefaring civilization, breaking [Saturnian/???] orbit and establishing outposts and colonies on its nearby moons.
