Nathaniel glanced at Octavia. Octavia glanced at Nathaniel. In that few moments of eye contact it was as if they had shared a whole conversation. Nathaniel nodded adn turned his attention back to the spider woman, smiling politely and shaking his head. "Tell whoever hired you that we're not interested." He said bluntly. "Octavia and I aren't helpless nor are we children. We don't need protection." Though his voice was level, it was easy to see the irritation on his face. Protect them? From what? A bunch of drunkards? The sand? "So I'll politely ask that you and whoever hired you leave us be."

"We do appreciate the time that you've taken to come up here." Octavia was much more polite than he, even as she was subtly tugging him towards her, away from Scarlett's rather... voluptuous embrace. Had he not been afraid of what the consequences of such a thing might have been, he would've indulged the pirate woman. But he'd seen Octavia cut a tree in half with nothing more than a flick of her wrist on multiple occasions. He didn't want to end up like a tree. "But there is no danger to us here in Kharidian. Should something arise he and I both are more than capable of handling it. So again, thanks but no thanks.
