  5. FAQ:
  6.
  7. What is 100% NSR?
  8.
  9. 100% NSR is a 100% category for Majora's Mask. For the purposes of speedrunning this game, 100% completion is defined as beating Majora after obtaining everything that you keep when you play Song of Time. This includes full inventory screens, a full Bomber's Notebook, 20 hearts, all the fairy rewards, all full equipment upgrades, all owl statues, and all dungeon maps and compasses. A conventional 100% run also makes the stipulation that these items should be obtained from their respective sources. 100% No Source Requirement drops that condition — you are free to obtain 100% completion by any available means.

  11. How does that make this category different?
  12.
  13. Think of 100% NSR as a "full inventory" speedrun, whereas the goal of conventional 100% is closer to "do everything in the game." This means that we are able to use glitches to duplicate items — in particular heart pieces and bottles — in order to save time. In fact, the present route collects only 10 of the 52 heart pieces from their actual sources (mostly because of Bomber's Notebook); the rest are duplicated. This allows us not only to save a large amount of time, but to cut out a lot of the random/tedious gameplay elements native to 100% (admittedly at the cost of a tedious heart piece duping process). Notable parts we can skip include Dampe, beaver races, fish heart piece, bank heart piece and dog races. The reduced number of random elements and shorter length compared to conventional 100% lead to a skill testing, higher-tempo speedrun.

  15. Why do we still have to do postman?
  16.
  17. We still need to obtain all of the ribbons in the Bomber's Notebook, so while we technically no longer need to obtain the heart piece from the postman's minigame, beating it is still required for his notebook ribbon.
  18.
  19. Should I play this route on English or Japanese?
  20.
  21. Whichever you prefer. The route was written with running on Japanese in mind, but no language-exclusive glitches are used. Up to small strat adjustments the route should work equally well for both languages.

  23. Is this a meme category?
