  1. You shuffled around your house aimlessly, struggling to stay motivated long enough to finish the mountain of chores that needed to be done. You felt dizzy and your throat had been scratchy for a few days now, accompanied by a runny nose that refused to stop no matter how much medicine you took.
  2.
  3. Stumbling your way to the kitchen, you filled up a mug with water and stuck it in the microwave for a few minutes. Upon completion, you dug through your spice cabinet to find tea bags near the back before walking over to your kitchen table and taking a seat with your now burning hot water. You dipped the tea bag in the mug lazily, realizing you forgot to get milk and sugar from the kitchen. It was too late now. You’d just have to drink the tea as-is.
  4.
  5. You pulled your phone from your pocket as you sipped your tea, unlocking it and scrolling through your texts to find the conversation you were looking for.
  6.
  7. All you sent Sans was a frowning emoji before setting your phone down on the table, followed by the mug you were holding. It wasn’t long before you heard two sharp knocks at your front door.
  8.
  9. “It’s open,” you called, feeling your throat burn from the effort. Sans opened the door and came in quickly, preventing any snow from blowing in and getting on the floor. He unzipped his jacket, hanging it on your coat rack along with his scarf.
  10.
  11. “you really should lock your door,” he said, wiping his sneakers off on the mat at the front door. “some big, scary monster is gonna come and eat you up.” He took his shoes off without untying them and slipped into the fluffy pink house slippers he kept at your place.
  12.
  13. “Like who? You?”
  14.
  15. He shot you a quick wink before you placed your head down on the table, arms hanging down on either side of your chair. He walked over to where you were sitting before kneeling down to eye level and laying his head on the table as well.
  16.
  17. “what’s up?”
  18.
  19. “I’m sick,” you mumbled, turning away from him so your other cheek was placed against the smooth tile of your kitchen table.
  20.
  21. “then it’s bedtime, kiddo,” He said, standing and placing both of his hands on your shoulders. You shivered at the touch.
  22.
  23. “oops, sorry.” He snapped his fingers and you could feel his magic reverberate through his bones, heating them as it went.
  24.
  25. He massaged your shoulders, bony thumbs digging in at just the right places. The blue glow shifted from the ends of his fingertips to envelop you, lifting you from your seat at the kitchen table. You hovered a few inches off the ground before being swept into Sans’ arms. You laid your head on his shoulder and he carried you up the stairs like this, careful not to go too quickly. You sighed, wishing you could actually breathe properly. Sans always smelled like old books and pine trees and you wanted nothing more than to bury yourself in that, but the universe was set on ruining your day.
  26.
  27. “I can’t go to bed, it’s like, still the beginning of the day,” you frowned. “I have chores to do.”
  28.
  29. “we can get pap to come over and do them later. you know he loves cleaning.”
  30.
  31. Sans opened the door to your bedroom with his magic. Stepping carefully over the clothes on your floor, he placed you gingerly in your bed, tucking the covers in around you.
  32.
  33. “i’ll be right back. don’t go anywhere.” Sans disappeared with a grin, teleporting himself somewhere downstairs.
  34.
  35. You rolled over to face the door and did your best to yell to the kitchen with your throat as scratchy as it was. “I have stairs in this house for a reason, lazybones.”
  36.
  37. “you know i don’t trust your stairs,” he replied. “they’re always up to something.”
  38.
  39. You tried to laugh, but it quickly turned into a coughing fit. You could hear dishes being moved around downstairs and the distinct noise of a drawer being shut. A few minutes passed before Sans reappeared in the doorway with a sandwich cut carefully into triangles.
  40.
  41. “i’m uh, not sure what humans are supposed to eat when they’re sick, but i made you one of those sandwiches you made papyrus the other day.”
  42.
  43. He walked over and set the plate on your bedside table, careful to cushion it from making a loud clink on the wood. You sniffled and gave him a lazy smile.
  44.
  45. “Peanut butter and fluff isn’t really what I should be eating with a cold, but thanks, Sansy.”
  46.
  47. He blushed a light aqua. The pet name never seemed to bother him when the rabbit in Grillby’s used it, but you saying it was a completely different story.
  48.
  49. “anything you need before i go downstairs and ransack your condiments?”
  50.
  51. You folded the corner of your comforter open before sticking your arms out at Sans and making a grabbing motion with your hands.
  52.
  53. “Nap with me?”
  54.
  55. “get ready, babe,” he said, smiling and kicking off his house slippers. “we’re in this for the long haul.”
  56.
  57. Sans bellyflopped on the bed next to you as you giggled, stealing most of your comforter in the process. He rolled up in it like a burrito, forcing you to move closer to him to stay warm.

  60.
  61. You woke up, sunlight from what you assumed to be the sunset streaming in through the curtains, turning the room a pale peach color. You weren’t sure exactly how long the two of you had been out and the coziness of the entire situation made you reluctant to leave the clutches of sleep. The blanket that you and Sans had originally rolled up in was now bunched up across your legs, causing you to shiver. You pulled it over both of you, careful not to wake the skeleton sleeping to your left. Sans was fast asleep next to you, still in the position he first fell onto the bed in, but now he had his arm lazily draped over your shoulder. You could feel his fingers tangled lightly in the hair on the back of your head. You smiled, seeing his ribcage expand slightly as he breathed in peacefully.
  62.
  63. You lazily ran your fingers down his ribs, hooking your thumb into one closer towards the bottom. Sans woke up and turned his head towards you, blinking a few times before the white lights in his eyes focused on your face.
  64.
  65. He pulled you into his chest, fingers lacing with yours as he rested his chin on top of your head. You might not have felt any better physically upon waking, but the fact that you had someone by your side to get through your cold filled you with determination to get over the sickness.
