  1. Basically, you got a console bar (or non-dropping drop-down terminal emulator, I guess).
  2. You type ls. A window opens (or maybe the non-dropping drop-down terminal emulator drops down to make room for the graphical interface), which contains a file manager. You type cd and the file manager moves to the folder that you selected. Type ls -l and you get list view. Interact with the file manager with your mouse and it shows your commands in the terminal emulator while it responds to them.

  4. The idea is to make GUI and CLI work together, instead of hiding the CLI in the cuckshed until the user realizes that they absolutely need it for a single thing and then relearn the commands every four months.
  5. Hiding the CLI is a fucking degenerate concept in terms of learning curve. It makes the OS really disjointed to use.
