  1. Shitennin- Four armed warriors borne of the four gods of the cardinal directions, the four major types of Shitennin were created as protectors of the world, to fight for those who maintain order over the land and keep the peace. In practice, they have gotten a bit... off track in that regard.
  2.
  3. Their most prominent nation is made up of mercenaries who fight for “the strongest,” which tends to get them pegged as brutes who work as elite muscle for tyrants. But, there’s far more diversity than one would think, from groups with more of a focus on balancing power to cosmopolitan populist-anarchists to in one case an agricultural commune that maintains order by virtue of its power of trade; due to an inherent agricultiral monopoly by virtue of having to fistfight the plants they harvest from.
  4.
  5. But, fairly or not, their most prominent face is the mercenarial empire, though even this is surprisingly rifled with diversity and/or philosophical fistfights. Most institutions in said empire are based around organized violence, with one notorious institution being the Fatality Games.

The empire makes most of its money by virtue of licensing out its mercenaries, being protected by a web of allegiances that the powers that be says proves they are maintaining their divine mandate. And yet in this empire there is anxiety about whether this is true, given a series of ominous signs; and grim shadows appear to be cast over these temples...
