  1. >"Christ on a bike kid, where'd you find this?" Agustus rumbles as he stares at the shaking Maidbot in your arms, her Optic still hanging out of her head.
  2. >"She was dumped in a pile of garbage on my way home, and you're the only person I know that can fix her so I came here" You explain, soaked to the bone from running to your Mentor's apartment in the rain.
  3. >The Giant of a man gives you a sad look before shaking his head and letting out an annoyed huff of air through his nose, "Yer still way too fucking soft kid, C'mon in here before you catch your death and I'll see what I can do for the little lady" he rumbles, before turning on a dime and marching in.
  4. >The Maidbot's in even worse shape than you initially thought, if the laundry list of technical jargon that's way over your head that Agustus spouts at you as he goes about fixing any problems he finds
  5. >"It looks like whoever did this Started with a Sledgehammer, then it looks like they kicked her multiple times with a steel toed boot, and for the big finish they pried the partially caved in optic out with a crowbar, probably hoping that the rain would cause a critical short instead of just fucking up her data archives" Agustus explains at your vacant look in response to his technical jargon.
  6. >"Can you fix her?" You ask, worried that you'd saved her just so she could die anyways.
  7. >"Bah, this is child's play" He grumbles, offended that you'd even ask such a question "I'm not one of those hand wringing mechanics that'll tell you to just buy a new one!"
  8. >What follows is several hours of repair, with Agustus seeming to pull needed parts from thin air with an ease that almost makes you wonder if he's bees taking parts home from work.
  9. >The fact that he does this all while the Maidbot, who had responded with a broken "Lu-Lu-Lu-Lu-Lu" when you asked her name, is charging is even more amazing.
  10. >In the end, other than her still missing optic and a superficial crack in her faceplate everything has been fixed.
  11. >With the majority of the work out of the way, Agustus finally notices the smell wafting off the Maidbot and his nose comically crinkles as he gives you an annoyed look.
  12. >"Hey, since she's all charged and fixed up save for the Optic, why don't you go clean her off while I get the new Optic ready, she reeks to high hell" He grumbles, before looking at you and the filth smeared on your shirt from carrying her to his apartment "Throw your shirt and her Dress in the wash while you're at it, won't do no good to get her cleaned up if you're just gonna throw her back into dirty clothes"
  13. >You blink and nod, helping the Maidbot to her feet and following the directions your mentor gave you to his Bathroom/Laundry Room Combo.
  14. >It's only when you're helping the Maidbot out of her Dress that you realize how awkward the situation is, you face going scarlet as the sound of the bath filling up with warm water and suds.
  15. >The fact that she refuses to meet your eye as you help her undress only makes it worse, and as soon as you gather her dress in your arms you attempt to pull a hasty retreat.
  16. >But before you can escape this incredibly awkward situation her hand gently wraps around your wrist.
  17. >"C-Can you help m-me? I don't remember how to do this" she mumbles shyly.
  18. >Ah, that's right. The water damage from sitting out in the rain with an optic hanging out had wreaked havoc on her memory systems, meaning she'd have to relearn how to do a lot of tasks.
  19. >One of which was apparently cleaning herself.
  20. >You gulp nervously before simply nodding in the affirmative, not trusting your voice.
  21. >You quickly deposit the soiled clothes in the washer and then help the Maidbot, who you've decided to call Lulu for posterity's sake, into the bath.
  22. >It's a miracle that most of the filth on her body comes off as easily as it does, not requiring much more than a slight bit of vigorous scrubbing at her joints, and washing the synthetic hair is thankfully just as easy a task.
  23. >The only part of her that still isn't completely clean is her Faceplate, and judging by her rather obvious flinches whenever you hands almost touched it while washing her hair this is not going to be fun.
  24. >'I just need to wash your faceplate" you gently explain "is that okay?"
  25. >Lulu seems shocked by your asking of permission, and after a moment nods nervously.
  26. >She flinches when the warm cloth touches her face and begins to gently wipe away at the smudges on it, fidgeting all the while.
  27. >After what seems like an eternity of gentle washing her face is finally clean.
  28. >Before you know it you're both fully dressed and sitting on Agustus' couch as the man Finishes installing Lulu's new Optic, and you blink as her hand finds it's way into yours, gently squeezing it every time Agustus' hand brushes her faceplate.
  29. >"Sorry about the Color, but it was either this or Military-Droid red" Your mentor explains as you look at Lulu's new green Optic.
  30. >"I think it looks nice" you say as you stare into Lulu's eyes, and she shyly smiles at you in return.
  31. >"Right, well since you obviously intend to keep her I'll do you a favor" he says while rolling his eyes "Timothy in Resources owes me, so I'll get him to draft up some official ownership paperwork, and you'll be taking these as well" he rumbles before forcing a box into your hands.
  32. >Looking into it, your eyes widen at all the warranty renewal tickets stuffed into the box, surely they must be worth a fortune!
  33. >"Don't bother with that "There's no way I could accept these" Bullshit, I worked hard on fixing this one up, so you better keep her until the day you die, kid" he grumbles, obviously having read the shocked expression on your face.
  34. >Agustus looks out the window before nodding to himself "Rain's passed, so get home" he says "I better see you bright and early at work tomorrow, kid"
  35. >You give him a nod and a smile as you stand up, before turning and holding out a hand to Lulu.
  36. >"Let's go home, Lulu" you say.
