- Ight: agh, halp
- Ight: what was aether researching just before the quest, or what would she be studying at the school now
- Shima: Besides the weather phenemona that you and Twilight were researching that led you to going to making contact with Tetra in the first place, and friendship lessons, maybe say you and Twilight were experimenting with spell research into deeper applications of space-time based magic, working on stuff like constantly maintained portals, stretching what one can do with teleportation, etc?
- Shima: Does that sound good or is there another that comes to mind?
- Ight: hm, yeah, nothing comes to mind, but i dunno if that'd work, since aether herself couldn't cast a teleportation spell
- Ight: or do you have something else in mind about it?
- Shima: Well you could say the research itself was used as an excuse to try and get Aether more comfortable with teleportation but besides that, maybe mention you and her were working on a bunch of elemental applications for your barriers, cataloging exactly what wavelengths it could attune to and what it all is invulnerable against, researching into that? Or healing magic
- Ight: hmm
- Shima: Or, even all of the above: say that Twilight kept you plenty busy with a number of research projects
- Shima: I like the spatial one myself but I know how you mean in how that might be troublesome with her inability to teleport
- Ight: mkay, i'll see what i can do with that
- Ight: what would aether's field of study be? like, is she working towards getting a masters of doctorate in just magic, or a specific field of magic?
- Ight: i'm not sure what fields of magic there'd be lol, if any
- Shima: Heheh, well I can think of lots. Restoration magic, alteration, Chaos magic, conjuration magic, destruction-based magic, illusions, alchemy, space-time, etc. I have an idea about Twilight splitting her school into six specific sub-sections to cover different fields but I haven't fully defined them yet.
- Shima: Based on Aether's build, personally, I would recommend saying you're taking a course based on order-based, healing/protective magic used to heal and defend its user and others
- Shima: You could also say that due to being Twilight's pupil, she's pushing you into an honors program where she simultaneously tries to teach you various schools of magic to widen your horizons, but that the healing magic field is your forte
- Ight: wew, that's a lot. in a good way
- Ight: mkay yeah, i think that'll do for now
- Shima: don't officially 'name' your field just yet, i'm gonna work on those six specific fields I mentioned but, just yeah outline that's the program you're currently enrolled in
- Ight: oh! cool, okie
- Ight: when you say "a course based on order-based, healing/protective magic used to heal and defend its user and others," do you mean that's the field she's studying or it's just another course like MAG 345?
- Ight: or i guess something like MAG 675 since it's a graduate course lol
- Shima: That's the field she's studying, there's probably dozens of courses going into specific applications of that like Inure 345 or Heal 675, Mend 101, etc
- Shima: >don't actually call them that they'd probably be named a little more fancy though you're free to make up those three-letter abbreviations if you want, hehe
- Ight: lol okay
- Ight: definitely lmk when you got those six schools set in stone
- Ight: is there a profession in equestria that employs advanced healing magic? idk if that'd be a doctor, since that'd require knowledge of biology. or would people studying healing magic need to know a lot of biology?
- Ight: sorry for asking all these hard question lol
- Ight: questions*
- Shima: >sorry almost missed that last one
- Shima: Ill let you know the moment I have those six schools names set, it probably won't be tonight but by next week for sure
- Shima: >A profession in equestria that employs advanced healing magic
- Shima: I wouldn't call it a 'doctor' persay since doctors work on physical knowledge, biology as you said, however there is definitely a profession for MAGICAL healers to be found in Equestria. Issue being they're extremely rare
- Shima: Magic as good as yours for healing others isn't found in many hospitals. I would not call them doctors but they would have some kind of specific name
- Shima: Maybe just 'Healers' but lemme think
- Ight: mkay, are they in demand?
- Shima: Always: rarity breeds demand
- Shima: Of course the issue being that there just aren't enough to go around
- Shima: But any hospital would be lucky to get their hooves on one
- Ight: ah okie
- Shima: I think I like the term 'Medical Mages' because it's alliterative, what do you think?
- Ight: haha, i like it too
- Ight: so would they need to know much biology? what would it take for them to advance in their ability?
- Ight: what complexities are there in healing magic?
- Shima: You need a little knowledge in biology but the actual work involved in healing magic requires little applicaiton of it. In essence, 'healing magic' is mostly just setting right what is wrong, restoring order to where chaos has disturbed it. It has less to do with actually knowing HOW you're healing up those wounds in the way of, mending up tissue by tissue and cell by cell, stopping hemorhaging etc, and more so that you're using magic to put it back to the way it was before.
- Shima: A little is suggested by you don't actually require much in the way of knowing biology to fix up wounds. IN terms of Medical Mages, it's probably recommended they work in tandem with a doctor who does have such knowledge so they could use both their skills to the fullest
- Ight: thx
- Ight: your mind is full of wisdom
- Ight: for real though hahaha
- Ight: does equestria have an army
- Ight: any wars?
- Shima: They do. In fact their army is the most powerful it's ever been in its history, used for maintaining peace across the entire globe. The elements have gone unused since Tirek mostly because Equestria's gotten so good at keeping peace without them.
- Shima: So if youre question is related to whether they'd employ Medical Mages, I think the answer would definitely be yes
- Ight: okie
- Ight: does the army have a name?
- Ight: also posted
- Shima: Woops! Sorry Imissed that last one again, sorry
- Ight: oh lol np
- Shima: Yeah, I'm going with the name Equestrian Armed Forces or EAF
- Ight: cool cool
- Ight: hehe, sounds like eup
- Ight: different things tho
- Shima: EUP refers to the Royal Guard defending the princesses in universe I believe, but at any rate yeah the EAF is a differnt faction
- Ight: ah yeah
- Shima: Also ight just a recomendation: in the future try to keep posts a little shorter / spread across a couple posts in conversation, your last one took 40 min to write up and then Alexis took 40 min to respond just now due to the length of the former. Just to help keep game speed going
- Ight: oh yeah, lol, alright i'll try
