Timeline - Development to Launch

00:00     Here is a typical timeline from development to launch. For example, let's say you are starting at the 1st of the month. I would allocate 14 days for development. Even though it is possible in less time, it's better to have more than less.

00:17     Then around the 15th to the 20th, I would be running the test network. Looking for possible failures in the chain. This is a good time to rent some hash or allow others to mine. The more hash the better as we want to treat this as if it were the main network.

00:36     When happy with the testing. Around the 20th, I would start compiling the windows QT. This should take around 2 days to complete both 32 and 64 bit versions. Then on the 21st, I would setup the Discord server.

00:53     The following day, I would create a PRE-ANN. This is letting people know you will be launching soon. Invite people to your Discord channel and start building up your community.

01:06     After this, allow yourself a few days to get everything together and organized. Have your source code and releases ready to push to GitHub.

01:16     Do a final check the you can start mining the genesis block. What I normally do is mine the first few blocks, then stop. Then delete the hidden core folder in both main QT and seed node. That way you can start mining again from block 0.

01:35     On the day before launch, you would create another announcement on bitcointalk. This will be your official ANN. Announcing the exact time and day your coin will be launched.

01:47     Then the following day, on the 26th, launch your coin.

01:52     So, this allows you 26 days from start to finish. It can be done quicker, but I suggest you start out with this template.
