Red Meteor Quest Season 2 Episode 2

"Hey there...wake up now...come on, I've been waiting forever...GET UP!"

Your eyes shoot open, but what you see is instead a white void, there is nothing here. No lights, no sound, you aren't even sure if you're really standing on anything at all, you look around confused for a moment unsure of how to take this all in. Looking down at yourself, you see that you're suddenly in your armor for some reason

"Over here Red." You hear and turn to see who it is that is speaking to you, and what you find out is that it's that silver armored warrior from before! You quickly assume a fighting  stance ready to take him on, but he instead gives a wave of his hand to calm you.

"Take it easy there big guy, I just wanted to congratulate you, no need for fighting today!"

"Congratulate me...?" You ask confused

"Yeah, about that whole Koffman thing a few months back, I have to say I did not think you'd pull that off with you and your friends coming out of it all alive, but you did and so, congrats."

"Er...thanks?"

"Hey, no problem you earned it, and hey, let's put that whole fight we had back then behind us eh? I just wanted to see if you all were up to snuff, and I am happy to say that you passed...barely. Buy you did, so it's all good!"

"Uh...huh..."

"What's with the cold shoulder? You're Red *freakin'* Meteor, you don't do cold! That cute cop girlfriend of yours does that. That said, good job on managing to win 4 girls over, not often  someone pulls that off. Oh right, you must have questions!

"Several actually..."

"You get three...and one at a time please."

Dammit, you aren't sure what's going on, but  as you speak with this person, you feel a hint of familiarity...do you know him? You *think* you do, but  you can't be sure...and you only get three questions...wonderful.

Alright then, let's start off simple here, three basic questions, maybe if you're lucky, you can get a few more out of him without him being aware of it.

"So then, who are you?"

"A good question! Not one I didn't expect.  For all intents and purposes, let's just say I'm your and your friend's boss. Don't worry though, I don't have any explicit orders or anything right now. No, you and yours are doing just fine the way you are now. Oh right, my name! Heh, nearly forgot, you can call me Xumir."

"Okay then Xumir, where are we now?"

"Ah, right now we're in a small pocket realm I made just for us to talk. It's nothing big really, but if you're wondering where you're really at in the physical world, you're fast asleep right now, and that Sadie girl is hugging you tight. Gotta say I'm quite jealous. Maybe I should strike out into the world for a bit...find myself a lady." He says wistfully, "Would be nice to have a lady to return to."

He sits there for a few moments before looking back at you "One more question Red, make it count now."

"Right...so how do you know about us? When we met you, you didn't see our faces, and we didn't say our names."

"Ah, now that's a good question! I like that Red, a fine eye for small details. Smart! Just what I want out of you and the others! Now the reason I know? Because Red, I've been watching you since day one! Since that kid Tim found you and took you in, when you first started fighting crime, to when the others earned their powers, boy it's a good thing I put you there!"

"Wait...what do you mean put me there?"

"Sorry Red, you're out of questions! Used em alllll up, now if I contact you some other time, you'll get some more, but for now...it should be just about morning. So off you go!"

"No, wait, I still want to-"
Your eyes shoot open again, this time, you aren't wearing your armor and you're looking straight up at Sadie's roof. You feel Sadie shift to the side,moments before her alarm clock goes off. She groans, grabbing it and slamming it off before getting up and groggily making her way to the bathroom.

"Sadie, I just had a really crazy dream...or at least I think it was and..."

"Not now Red..."

"But...!"

"NOT. NOW."

Great...she's in her angry mode and she's not gonna calm down until after her shower and coffee. And so with that in mind,you're forced to wait. You get dressed yourself, and wait until Sadie sits down with you, a cup of coffee in her hand.

"Are you less angry now?" You ask

"I wasn't angry before!"

"Were too."

"Was not!"

"Were too!"

I wasn't!"

Alright then, let's start off simple here, three basic questions, maybe if you're lucky, you can get a few more out of him without him being aware of it.

"You totally were~" You say teasingly, if there's one thing you love about Sadie is just how easy it is to tease her like this, as per usual, she doesn't even catch on, the two of you constantly going back and forth on  such a meaningless thing.

"T-that's it, I'm going to work!" She said in a huff, getting up from the table and quickly changing into her police uniform and making for the door.

You hurry after her,attempting to relay what you saw in your dream earlier"Sadie wait I have to tell you about-"

"Quiet, I will see you after work!" With that she slams the door on you before quickly opening it again "A-and...I-I love you!" she slams it again

Maybe teasing her so early in the morning wasn't exactly the brightest idea, you let out a sigh at that, but it can't be helped, you'll just have to tell her later on when you see her.

Well, with that being a thing that just happened, you now have time to yourself, the others are all going to be at work or school at this hour, leaving you to with some alone time.

>Sadie's gone time to do laundry and clean the house, and them make a lunch to take to Sadie at work

With Sadie gone, you decide to do the one thing that always calms her down and wins you brownie points with her: Do the laundry and clean the house. Sadie was still a bit untidy as ever and so you went about your duties of mopping  the floors, sweeping where it was needed and  throwing away the bits of trash, as well as giving everything a good dusting.

It was when you were doing the dishes that you got a good idea: Sadie's at work, and she usually eats out for lunch,grabbing donuts normally or something that didn't really count for a meal (you'd never say it to her face that you were surprised she didn't put on pounds from eating like that). To that end, you decide to make her something a bit more filling, there's some burgers in the freezer, which you decide to cook up for her, two of them should suffice in keeping the cop's hunger at bay.

When you're done, you look up at the clock. It's already nearly noon (Cleaning does take time after all) and this is perfect! you know what precinct Sadie works at, so without further ado, you put the burgers on some buns, add some sauces and put them into a container. Heading out to the backyard, you transform and leap out to some roof tops from there. It won't take you long to reach where she is thankfully and you soon touch down a few blocks away. You duck into an alleyway, transform back and walk to the police station properly. Once inside, you see a number of officers walking around doing who knows what, some herding criminals along while others take some calls.

"Excuse me, but is officer stafford here?" You ask one of the men at the front desk

"Yes what do you need her for?" He asks in a slightly irritable tone

"I just wanted to bring her some lunch, I think she may be a bit mad at me so..."

"She's in the break room, down the hall 5th door on your left."
Well he's a nice person. You don't dwell on it and instead move on to make your delivery, arriving in the break room you see Sadie and several other officers all talking to one another with a plate of donuts between them.

"Red,what are you doing here?!" Sadie exclaims

"Oh so this is the guy?" one of the officers state "Huh, no wonder you've been all smiles at work."

"That's not-!"

"Hey Sadie, I brought you some lunch, I figure you could use something more filling than those donuts."

"He's saying he doesn't want you to get fat!" One of them jeers

"He is not! ...Right?" She gives you a...look.

>Totally not saying that, nope, no not at all!

You feel Sadie's harsh gaze on you and you try to fish around for the right words. "Well, I didn't exactly say it."

"R-Red!" Sadie exclaims punching your shoulder

"O-ow, I didn't mean anything by that!"

"Are you saying I'm fat!?"

"N-no, I'm just worried you could get fat!"

"I'll have you know that won't happen!"

"I dunno, you could use some fat in the front!" one of the male officers laugh

"Sh-shut up Charles!"

Sadie continues glaring and beating you in the chest before pushing you out of the break room "You get out of here!"

"But...!"

"OUT!!!"

She slams the door on you and you can hear her yelling at charles as several chuckles echo from inside. You quickly peek your head back in. "I love you Sadie." You say calmly, which elicits several 'Awwwws' from the other officers

"Sh-shut up and go! I love you too, just go already!"

You sigh, and do as you're told, you can tell from that little exchange she's not as angry as she lets on. You exit the police station and walk a few more blocks away before transforming again. You leap up to a roof, perhaps you'll do some patrolling, crime never sleeps after all.

You don't have to look far, as just as you leap for and land on another roof, you're knocked to the side by what feels like the wind itself you crash into the wall of a building before landing on the ground.

"There you are! Red Meteor in the flesh...or well armor! I've been looking all over for you!" comes a cackling voice

"Hey now, don't go killing him yet, we gotta take him in alive says another, more calmly

You look at the two of them, both eyeing you up.

You don't know who these two are, but you aren't about to let them just beat on you so easily. You put up a fighting stance, not wanting to kill them at all since they're still human for the most part.

"Oh boy, a fight! I've been raring to go, well come on then Red Meteor, let's see if I can't clean your clock eh!"

"Don't get cocky you idiot! He's a lot stronger than he look-"

The black haired man's words are cut off as you dash at the both of them, so fast were you, you caught both of them off guard, delivering a sickening uppercut to the black haired man, while the other with the top hat trie to jump away.

Unfortunately for him, he's a bit too slow, and so you grab his leg and slam him into the ground, you then take the other man and knee him in the stomach before slaming him down on top of the other.

"I'd suggest the two of you turn yourselves in now." You state

"Like hell!" The man with the top hat yelled "he pointed a finger at you and the next the thing you knew you were sent flying backwards by a powerful gust of wind.

Oh he has wind powers...wonderful.

"I told you he's stronger than he looks, now be careful, or we don't get the money!"

"Fine Fine Mr.Smokes, you're such a killjoy you know that?"

The man named 'Smokes' lights a cigerette and takes a quick drag. "Yeah I know, and it's keep me alive all this time, now shut your mouth." He takes another drag, this time blowing the smoke out as it takes on the form of a giant hand.

Well that's unexpected...

You're very quickly just wondering who these two are. Or even better, who sent them. That train of thought is broken though, as another gust of wind comes towards you, you narrowly dodge out of the way of it. this turns out to be feint as the hand comes towards you shockingly fast in an attempt to grab you, but you just barely get out of the way of it dodging back again to put some distance between you and the duo.

You're curious about that floating hand...it came from a cigarette so...you make a fireball grow in your hand before tossing it at Smokes

"Oh crap, hit the floor!" He exclaims ducking down. Top Hat however doesn't seem to get why, until it's too late. The fireball, connects with the smoke hand and explodes quite violently. The force of it is enough to knock you back even! When you get back to your feet, you hear Smokes chuckle

"Told ya to duck!"

"Oh shut up!" Top Hat replies getting back to his feet. His suit is singed in several places and that explosion seems to have hit him pretty damn bad. You should...probably be far more careful dealing with this Smokes guy.

He takes another drag and makes another smoke hand. "You should be more careful with that Red Meteor, someone could get hurt."

You catch the meaning and look around, no one is on this street right now, but that blast was strong enough to flip some cars, who knows what kind of effect it could have on random passerby.

Much as it pains you to admit it. Smokes has a good point, you simply can't use your fire powers here as you and he are just the perfect ingridents for a bomb that could probably take out a block or two at the least. This time Top Hat doesn't even fire out another blast of wind at you and instead whips out what appears to be a chain. He swings it at you, grabbing your wrist and wrenching you in close, Smokes is ready to give you a smack with his smoke, but at the last moment you slide your way under it and grab Smoke's face. You're still being pulled and as such you slam him right into Top Hat's face.

"GRK" is all you hear as the two collide, falling over and letting out moans of pain. You hear police sirens in the distance, looks like that explosion caught their attention after all. You look down at at Smokes and Top Hat and notice that they're...gone.

What the hell...?

Where did they go? You look around for a few minutes before looking up on the roofs to see them making their get away. As much as you want to go after them, you decide to hang around and put the police on alert, they can't hide if the police are searching for them. When the cops stop by, they begin questioning you, but thankfully not blaming you for any of the damages around the area...even if it is technically your fault.

The entire time Sadie is looking at you with concern, making her way over to you, acting as if she's got something important to ask you.

"You okay?" she whispers

"Yeah...we're gonna have to talk to everyone later on. Send a message out to the others to meet up later?"

She nods before walking off, you deciding to head home. If you stay out now, you run the risk of Smokes and Top Hat finding you again, and you're sure the city doesn't need multiple cases of explosions all over town.

Once home, you wait until the others show up, Sanja,Jane,Saya,Sadie, and Helena all filing inside.
"Okay so what's so important that Sadie yelled at us all to get over here after work?" Helena said with a sigh

>Someone put a hit out on us!

Alright, I'm done eating, writing now

"Right, well to put it simply, Tim was right, there's some new bad guys in town and to make things worse, they put a hit out on us!"

"A hit?!" Everyone exclaims in unison

"Yeah, they said that they were promised some money if they 'brought me in.' I wanted to tell you all so that you'd all be careful."

"He's got a point." Sadie said rubbing her chin "We don't know where these guys will pop up next, they've clearly got to be searching for us if they found Red."

"We also don't know just how many of these guys  there are." Saya chimes in

"You really think there'd be more?" You ask surprised

"Well yeah, think about it: There's 6 of us, we're pretty damn strong, we've got freaky powers, The guys Red ran into had freaky powers too, whose to say that whoever hired these guys don't have other weirdos ready to knock us around?"

A chill ran down the entire room as this revelation dawned on everyone.

"W-well we should be okay right? Jane said trying to lighten the mood with a fake smile "They don't know who we are, and we can take them on if they try to fight us."

"Not if they overwhelm us."

"Pah, let them come, we'll trash them all." Sanja said harshly, Saya glared at her Sanja silently returning the favor, and it was up to sadie and Helena to stop the tension from spilling over into something worse. Sanja...had been a bit more standoffish ever since a few months ago.

"Well for the time being, I say none of us should go around without a friend to back them up. I got lucky today that Smokes and Top Hat weren't that much trouble. but we may not be so lucky next time."

Everyone silently agreed, looked like things were going to get a lot more difficult from here on.
