  1. It was Saturday evening in Canterlot – the last deliveries had been made, the last papers had been signed and ponies were returning home from their struggle at work. Everything had settled down in time with Celestia’s sun, and the city was soon basked in the soft glow of street lights. However, one particular house on Fruit Street was breaking the trend, as the rising murmur of conversation and music filled the air.
  2.
  3. The house of Alex S, or rather, the mansion of Alex S was probably the pinnacle of the whole street. It was neither particularly old-fashioned nor particularly modern, but the size certainly set it apart from its neighbours, and the spotlights that were illuminating the sky didn’t help. The street had observed a surge of people that night – many ponies from different walks of life were all focussed into one house.
  4.
  5. DJ Alex S, the brown unicorn and musical prodigy, was stationed by the door, greeting his guests as they entered. It was a very informal party, quite unlike most parties in Canterlot, but Alex still insisted on wearing his tuxedo.
  6.
  7. Alex looked back at his guests. Everypony seemed to be engaged in something – one pony was sat down playing guitar to a small audience (he had been playing for 4 hours straight), two pegasi were pressing questions onto General Mumble, KeepOnRockin’ was being Dutch, Sci and Zorg were sat down eating toast, and a gryphon and his pony friend were sat on the floor playing with pony dolls.
  8.
  9. He smiled, knowing there was nothing that could go wrong – after all, he was used to large amounts of ponies in one spot. Some of the guests, however, clearly weren’t – Foozogz sat in the corner of the living room shyly nibbling away at his sandwich, whilst one particular pegasus and his floating interrobang zipped around finding some way to annoy just about everypony. Alex shook his head and began to wonder why he was invited in the first place.
  10.
  11. He then remembered that he hadn’t seen one of his guests at all today. He called over a passing tombstone, “hey, have you seen Glaze at all today? He only lives next door, so I thought he’d be here by now.”
  12.
  13. “Glaze? Isn’t he staying down with somepony in Ponyville?” the Living Tombstone said.
  14.
  15. “Ah yes, of course.” Alex rolled his eyes – he knew exactly who Glaze would be staying with, and what they’d get up to (carrot farming is serious business, after all), “I’ll go ahead and start the party then.”
  16.
  17. Alex clambered up on stage and tapped the mic, “hello, can I have your attention please?” the audience quietened worryingly fast, “firstly, I want to thank you all for coming here. Secondly, we’ve got tons of drinks and refreshments in the kitchen, so...” Before he could get another word out, the entire audience had disappeared in a puff of smoke. Alex peeped round the corner to find everypony jammed in the kitchen doorframe.
  18.
  19. Alex sighed. He turned round to order band to start playing, but soon found that they had gone to get drinks as well. “This is going to be a long night”, he said, dragging his hoof across his face.
