  1. Date: August 29, 1996
  2. Passengers: 130
  3. Crew: 11
  4. Fatalities: 141
  5. Cause: "The course selected on both HSIs was 283 degrees even though the approach course is 300 degrees. This setting does not affect the indication of the CDI. However, the CDI was pointing to 283 degrees on the dial, which is 17 degrees to the left of the approach course, giving a visual impression of wind drift to the left and therefore giving a possible reason for a heading correction to the right...the navigator was overloaded with tasks leading little time for rechecking his work, thereby setting the scene for making mistakes."
