  1. i had an idea of sorts, with figuring out how Alena ends up becoming the font of power she needs to become by the end of the third arc. i have a two-word response to that question: multiversal travel.
  2.
  3. "But, that requires vast amounts of power to pull off in the first place, doesn't it?" You'd ask. And yea, you're right. But I have a response to that: Once upon a time, humanity existed as one, with magic abound. Many a marvel were everyday occurances, and things prospered.
  4.
  5. But it was not meant to be, it seemed. A group of exceptionally powered wizards got together, and formed the biggest conspiracy in the history of ever: they wished to hold the entirety of the world in their hands. How this was accommplished was a feat in itself. The very first thing they did, was convert the magical spring naturally generated by the planet and things living on it, from a normal mana spring, into a giant foci, or anchor. Before going through with this heinous act, they left their next of kin instructions that were to be followed to the exact letter, so as to ensure future generations would hold the world in their hands.
  6.
  7. With the world being turned from a natural font of magic that all life drew from, nobody born after the fact would have any magical ability. When it was discovered, the population panicked; humanity took its first and only step onto the slide, with a long sheer cliff, before disappearing into the abyss. Riots were more or less invented during at one point in that time period. Soon though, things calmed down, but another problem loomed on the horizon... The group that started the whole thing had left instructions for after the dust eventually settled. The family started its work, rebuilding society while planting sleepers everywhere. They'll be important eventually.
  8.
  9. More decades passed, more instructions left, more plot thickening. Soon, it would be time for the family to strike again, and strike they did. Stories were spread, about mystical beings, about incromprehensible places and things beyond our reach and understanding, that created and control life and everything in it. The sleepers were awakened, to crowd around the family in support, shuttering the hecklers that still held onto memeories of times long past. Eventually, the family won the battle of the voices, and religions were established around the world, and the churches started. The family branched, and made their own collectives. Somewhere along the line, the instructions were forgotten about, and the last bit of knowledge about the times of old vanished... But not the access to the foci...
  10.
  11. With the instructions gone, some of the family members slept around, and spread the ability to use the world as a focus spread. If only someone with magic sufficient enough came along, and was able to actually make use of the gift given to them...
  12.
  13. Eventually, Alena uncovers the whole truth of what happened, and will have to make a decision after successfully using the world as a focus for the spell that allowed the two of them to travel straight to the right Equestria. She can either turn the world's mana pool back to normal, or she can leave it as is and do nothing about it. That takes place in the fifth arc.
  14.
  15. The sixth and onwards are spoilers.
