  1. I started this modpack after getting back into modded minecraft back in early 2023. It began as something I (had i not made it ) would've wanted to play through and experience. I quickly realized this was impossible, as the actual experience is meant for a player, not the developer.

  3. When I first started sending out alphas, a couple people joined me and tried it out. It was buggy, unpolished and at most times unplayable. But, it was some of the most fun I had playing minecraft. That was solely because of the other players. VOXELSHOCK was never a singleplayer experience, it was meant to be played with others, as the story and world would change depending on what they did in the game.
  4.
  5. If I remember correctly, the highest player count either of the servers had was 5 people at one time. It was rare for a single person to be on at any given time. Honestly, I'd hoped for the modpack to have maybe 10 players active at most times, but even that was a very lofty goal. I never wanted it to explode in popularity, but I didn't want it to die out with nobody online besides me occasionally joining to hop around for 5 minutes and leave.
  6.
  7. Unfortunately though, the latter has come and gone and honestly, I see no point in running servers if nobody wants to play on them. I don't fail to see the irony in how a modpack about saving a dying world, is itself dead.
  8.
  9. The game's world is dead without others. The story is dead without others.
  10.
  11. VOXELSHOCK was about the emergent stories made by the players, saving the world while having the cards stacked against them, about facing against overwhelming odds and MAKING advantages to overcome it all, and without them, VOXELSHOCK simply *isn't*.

  13. This isn't a call to action, or plea to revive the modpack in any form. This is written purely for me to lament a failed project that I put a full year of work into, for others. Because of this, I will be decommissioning the Live server, and making the last updated commits to the GitHub repository associated with it. If you wish to host the server yourself, everything is there for you to do it. I understand the futility of offering this. I will also be archiving the repositories, and the Modrinth page Finally, I will not be providing support, or updates anymore. I hope you can understand.
  14.
  15. Thank you, to everyone, past and present, who played the modpack. You made it work, even if only for a little bit.
  16.
  17. Goodbye.
