  1. >Trixie yawned as she watched the fire, tired from a long days travel.
  2. >She looked around at the San Palomino Desert, the sand beneath her hooves still war, from the beating sun.
  3. >Shed no doubt make it to Appaloosa by tomorrow, hopefully in time to do a show.
  4. >She was on an Equestria wide tour, hoping to end with a show at Canterlot in time for Celestia to raise the sun.
  5. >Looking at the moon, she soaked in the warm glow as she noticed the Mare in the Moon was now gone.
  6. >Its been almost a year since Nightmare Moon made her drastic appearance in Ponyville.
  7. >Almost a year since six ponies went to stop her and never came back.
  8. >Trixie couldn't help but wonder who they were sometimes, their names were never mentioned.
  9. >At least, not in the Manehatten Newspapers where Trixie was at the time.
  10. >Nightmare Moon was defeated, and that's all anypony cared about after all.
  11. >Trixie didn't think that was fair; anypony with a story that good deserves to be recognized.
  12. >But what did she know, she's just a performer.
  13. >She yawned again, and took that as a sign to go to bed.
  14. >Wrapping her purple cape around her for warmth from the cold desert night, she kicked sand onto the fire to put it out.
  15. >Heading into her cart, she used her magic to hang her cape up on a hook next to her hat and made her way to the bed and flopped herself on it spread eagle.
  16. >Trixie was tired from pulling the cart all the way from Las Pegasus and didn't bother getting under the blue sheets.
  17. >Trixie closed her eyes, and sleep fell upon her.
  18.
  19. >Trixie was dreaming.
  20. >She was in a large field of vibrant green grass under a beautiful blue sky.
  21. >It was magnificent, really.
  22. >She skipped through the grass, blissfully ignorant of the world around her.
  23. >Suddenly, the sky turned dark, a thunderstorm began rolling in.
  24. >Thunder boomed over head as Trixie stopped to look up.
  25. >A drop landed on the tip of her nose, and then a deluge fell from the sky.
  26. >Lightning flashed overhead, striking the ground.
  27. >Trixie's mane and tail dropped as they got wetter and wetter.
  28. >Everywhere she looked there was nothing to hide under.
  29. >The thunder began to sound like a horrific laughter as the clouds parted at times to reveal the full moon and the visage of the Mare in the Moon.
  30. >Trixie trembled as the moon began to get closer, growing in size.
  31. >Within minutes it burst through the clouds, min tent on crushing her.
  32. >She screamed as moon crashed into her.
  33. >Trixie awoke to find that she had rolled onto the floor and wet herself.
  34. >Embarrassed, she climbed up and cleaned up her mess, then cleaned herself up.
  35. >During which the whole time she couldn't help but think of the dream and just how real it felt.
  36. >Trixie had never been so afraid of dream that she would wet herself.
  37. >She began to ponder what it meant when she heard a constant knocking on her cart's door.
  38. >Her face flushed red as she hoped whoever it was didn't notice that she was cleaning her nether regions.
  39. >She opened the top portion of the door to her cabin and began to speak when two huge, furry paws reached in, grabbed her, and pulled her out.
  40.
  41. >Trixie tumbled to the ground, barely awake enough to understand what was going on.
  42. >Confused, she notice three large, furry creatures with sharp claws and big paws.
  43. >She recognized them as Diamond Dogs, but hadn't seem them this close to be sure.
  44. >They rarely interact with ponies, and often do so violently.
  45. >"You dare to attack the Great and Powerful Trixie?" She said, struggling to her feet.
  46. >"We want your shiny!" The shorter of the three said.
  47. >"My what?"
  48. >"Don't play stupid ponee." He said, poking her.
  49. >Trixie's horn began to glow, illuminating the area. "If you want anything of Trixie's, you'll have pry it from her cold, dead hooves."
  50. >"Okay then ponee." The dog swiped at her, but she jumped in time to dodge it.
  51. >The second dog jumped at her, knocking her to the ground.
  52. >Trixie used her magic to push the dog away, but the third charged her while she was standing back up.
  53. >She rib bones break as the massive beast slammed into her.
  54. >She grunted as she slid into the ground, finding it painful to breathe.
  55. >Trying to stand up, the huge dog brought his neatly arm down upon one of her legs, bringing her back down to the ground in pain.
  56. >Trixie tried to use her magic to levitate a rock in defense, but was stopped when he grabbed her horn.
  57. >"You won't be needing this anymore ponee."
  58. >"Nnope."
  59. >A massive red pony with a yoke charged into the fray, bettering aside the Diamond Dog.
  60. >"Not this guy again!" The small one said.
  61. >The dogs staggered off dug into the ground, escaping underground.
  62. >The red pony carefully nudged Trixie onto his back and made his best attempt to painlessly bring her to safety.
  63. >It hurt so much she blacked out from the pain.
  64.
  65. >Trixie awoke the next morning, her body in considerably less pain.
  66. >She was on her back, and her head was on a very comfortable pillow.
  67. >She couldn't help but notice her right foreleg was in a cast, while her upper torso was wrapped up in bandages.
  68. >Trixie groaned as she felt a dull pain in her chest with each breath.
  69. >Her head was woozy and her vision warped, no doubt from some sort of pain killer.
  70. >"Well lookie who decided to finally wake up!" Said a cute, red maned mare in a cowpony hat and red flannel shirt. "Looks like I won't have to take you out back to put you down after all!"
  71. >"How long wash I out?" Trixie slurred, no doubt still high on what ever medication they put her on.
  72. >"About 10 hours?" She said, tapping a hoof on her chin. "I don't know, Big Mac brought you in pretty damn late."
  73. >"Big Mack?" Trixie asked, cocking her head.
  74. >"Big Macintosh, the big apple pony that brought you in." She held out a hoof. "I'm Whiskey Rose, by the way. I'm the reason you're not fucking dead right now."
  75. >Trixie used her good hoof to feel her cast. The foul-mouthed mare had already drawn her own cutie mark on it; a jug of whiskey with two roses.
  76. >"How bad did thoshe dogsh get me?"
  77. >"Your ribs were pretty damn close to breaking, I'd say, but they fared better than your leg." Rose put a hoof to her chest in pride. "Luckily for you, I'm the best doctor this side of the San Palomino."
  78. >Trixie just had to ask. "What am I on?"
  79. >"Um, a bed?" Rose cocked her head. "Did somepony shoot you in the head or something?"
  80. >"I meant the painkillersh."
  81. >"Oh! That's my signature apple whiskey!" She said, pulling out a jug of it seemingly out of thin air. "It'll help cure shits, fits, pits, and unwanted tits."
  82.
  83. >Before Trixie could ask where exactly she was, a sandy maned buck in black vest and black cowpony hat burst into the room.
  84. >"Welcome to Aaaaaaaaappleloosa!" He shouted, taking Trixie's good hoof and shaking it to the point that she thought he was trying to screw it off.
  85. >"That's enough!" Rose said, putting a hoof his shoulder.
  86. >"My name is Breaburn," He said, pointing at his chest, "You must be the Great and Powerful Trixie!"
  87. >"My reputation prosheeds me." Trixie said, flattered.
  88. >"I reckon if anypony is gonna come and make a performance at my town, I'll at least learn their name!" He was was too loud for Trixie's liking.
  89. >Two more ponies came into the room now.
  90. >One a older buck with a gray mustache and mane, wearing another cowpony hat, a bandana, and a sheriff star.
  91. >The other was the buck from last night, Big Mac probably.
  92. >"Sheriff Silver Star has some questions for you, if y'all don't mind." Breaburn said.
  93. >"I think she needs to sober up a bit," Rose said, nudging Breaburn with her elbow, "if you catch my drift."
  94. >"Ah think she's in tha perfect state a mind to tell us tha truth." Silver Star said, stepping forward.
  95. >"Why would I lie about being attacked?" Trixie asked.
  96. >"Yuh can never be too careful 'round a 'corn." Silver Star said.
  97. >"Maybe we should cut back on the racism a tad?" Rose said.
  98. >"Ah don't know what y'all learned back in Las Pegasus, but unicorns ain't a likin' to be trustworthy. Magic is not tha way we do things 'round here."
  99. >"Okay, but she's a unicorn and you have to help her, not insult her for being fucking born. You sound like those Roaman freaks at Hoofer Dam."
  100. >"Ah'll help her, but Ah don't have to like her."
  101. >Big Mac facehoofed and sighed.
  102. >"Don't y'all go soft on me neither M'cintosh,"
  103. >"Nnope." Big Mac said, leaving the room along with Whiskey Rose.
  104. >Breaburn made an attempt to give Trixie a smile to reassure her.
  105. >It most certainly did not.
  106.
  107. >Trixie no longer felt comfortable with the sheriff.
  108. >While he did believe she was attacked, he didn't believe it was unprovoked.
  109. >He seemed to stick to the idea that unicorns always had something worth stealing.
  110. >"I no longer feel comfortable knowing my cart is unattended."She said, worried he Silver star might try so,etching to convict her.
  111. >Unfortunately she was also starting to sober up too, and the pain began to throb throughout her body and in her head.
  112. >She also felt the need to vomit.
  113. >"What're y'all afraid of hidin'?" Silver Star asked.
  114. >"Okay, sheriff, that's enough. Let's leave the poor mare alone." Breaburn pushed Silver Star out of the room as Whiskey Rose came back in.
  115. >"It's about time that fucking wind bag left." She said.
  116. >Trixie couldn't speak as the bile began to work its way up from her stomach.
  117. >"Bucket's by the bed." Rose pointed to something on the floor to Trixie's right.
  118. >Trixie used her magic to lift up a wooden bucket in time for her to begin retching acid from her stomach.
  119. >Having not eaten anytime soon, she vomited pure stomach acid into the bucket, burning her throat and mouth.
  120. >Rose laughed. "Yeah, I remember my first time. Well, not that first time, but you know what I mean. When I got my cutie mark." She tapped her flank.
  121. >Trixie couldn't bear the thought of what a filly was doing messing around with alcohol to get a whiskey cutie mark.
  122. >And then she threw up again.
  123. >"You see, it all happened back in Dodge Junction..." Rose began.
  124. >Breaburn came back in after Trixie was done, and gave her a glass of water.
  125. >The water was lukewarm, no doubt sitting out for a bit, but it was better than tasting bile.
  126. >"Big Mac and Silver Star went to go get your cart and search fer clues." Breaburn said.
  127. >"You're going to let that old, racist-" Trixie growled, levitating a towel to wipe her mouth.
  128. >Breaburn stopped her by raising a hoof. "Silver Star has some issues, but he's a good pony at heart."
  129. >Trixie humphed.
  130. >"Just stay here with Whiskey and Ah'll let ya know when they get back."
  131. >Breaburn left and Whiskey Rose pulled up a chair next to Trixie's chair.
  132. >"I like the story of my other first time better, let's start with that!" She said, giddy as can be. "It all starts in Dodge Junction when I noticed a cute brown maned buck that talked like he was packing an elephant trunk."
  133. >Trixie began vomiting more bile into the bucket.
  134. >"Oh trust me, I wanted to do the same when I saw how wrong that was! I've seen mouse tails bigger than that! I didn't know much but..."
  135.
  136. >It was dark by the time Big Mac and Silver Star returned.
  137. >According to them, her entire cart was ransacked, the interior torn apart.
  138. >But nothing seemed missing.
  139. >"I would like to see for myself." Trixie requested.
  140. >Whiskey Rose scoffed. "Yeah, like that's going to happen anytime soon."
  141. >Trixie used her magic to levitate herself up and onto her hooves.
  142. >While it was tough balancing on three legs, she had done it a few times before.
  143. >A stage performer does get injured after all.
  144. >"Well fuck me sideways and call me baby, she's a stubborn broad." Rose said, shaking her head.
  145. >"You can not keep the Great and Powerful Trixie bedridden forever!"
  146. >Trixie followed Rose, Big Mac, and Silver Star outside the wooden house to the sandy streets.
  147. >The outside of her cart didn't look too bad, but inside was another story.
  148. >Everything was ripped and torn to shreds, cabinets trashed, dishes broken, and bits all over the place.
  149. >Bits all over the place?
  150. >What kind of thievery was this?
  151. >"They didn't take anything?" Trixie asked.
  152. >"Nnope."
  153. >"Ah reckon not."
  154. >That left only one thing.
  155. >Trixie quickly levitated out her cape, conveniently still hung with her hat, and used her magic to open the gem on the front of it.
  156. >It popped open and a little red crystal sat within.
  157. >"What is that?" Silver Star asked.
  158. >"What they were probably after." Trixie said.
  159.
  160. >"I hope one of you gets it because I certainly don't." Rose said.
  161. >"I was approached by a buck in Dodge Junction who offered me a lot of bits for my cape." She said.
  162. >"I didn't think it was worth giving away, so I declined his offer."
  163. >"He seemed upset and focused on my gem."
  164. >"That's quite tha stretch there 'corn." Silver Star raised an eyebrow in disbelief.
  165. >"I'm with the sheriff." Rose said.
  166. >"Nnope." Big Mac said.
  167. >"Got something to say there big guy?" Rose asked.
  168. >"How many Diamond Dogs do we get around these parts?" Big Mac asked.
  169. >"Are y'all suggestin' that somepony hired dogs to steal some 'corn's lil' gem?"
  170. >"Precisely." Trixie said.
  171. >"Okay, I hate to say it, but this is all way too much and sounds like you guys are just pulling it out of your asses." Rose said.
  172. >"We can talk about it more in tha mornin." Silver Star said, walking down the dusty trail. "If Ah even feel like dealin' with some 'corn that thinks she's Celestia's sister."
  173. >"I'm sorry this happened, but it's just a case of wild dogs." Rose said.
  174. >"They said they wanted something of mine that is shiny!" Trixie pleaded.
  175. >"Hey, it's not that I don't believe you," Rose said, "but this kind of is grasping at straws."
  176. >"Let's just get some sleep and talk about it in the morning."
  177. >"Fine!" Trixie angrily hobbled into her cart, using her magic to slam the door behind her.
  178. >She is the Great and Powerful Trixie, if they weren't going to help her figure out what's going on, then she didn't need them.
  179. >"What the fuck is her problem?" Trixie heard Rose say outside.
  180.
  181. >"You're telling me she didn't have it."
  182. >Night Wing sighed, doing his best not to lose his composure in front of the Diamond Dogs.
  183. >"Maybe the information is wrong?" The short one, Spot, said bashfully.
  184. >"Maybe you three are imbeciles!" Night Wing snapped, baring his sharp fangs and spreading his leathery bat wings.
  185. >The three digs recoiled "We didn't think that the big pony would come and help her!"
  186. >"If you three could think," He tapped his head with a hoof, "we wouldn't have any fucking issues right now!"
  187. >"We could go get her from the pony town." Fido offered.
  188. >"Yeah!" Said Rover and Spot.
  189. >Night Wing sighed. "No, I have a better solution."
  190. >He flapped his wings and took flight, looking the three idiots over with his glowing yellow eyes.
  191. >"Appleloosians have a very rocky history with the Buffalo." He said, speaking slowly and clearly so that even buffoons such as them can understand.
  192. >"But they made peace earlier this year."
  193. >"So what?" Spot asked.
  194. >Night Wing shot him a scolding glance. "So? We remind them of how much they hate one another."
  195. >"Bring me the sheriff, and the Chiefs daughter, and be sure to make it look like the other group took them."
  196. >The three dogs gave a clumsy salute and ran off to leave the cave.
  197. >"And if you screw it up, I'll turn you into rugs!" Night Wing yelled to them.
  198. >He did need a new rug back at home after all.
  199.
  200. >Trixie sighed as she started to clean up her cart.
  201. >She used her levitation magic to clear the sheets from her bed, fold, and probably make the bed and fluff her pillows.
  202. >She heard a knock at the door and sighed.
  203. >Hobbling over to the door, she opened the top part and saw Big Mac standing outside alone.
  204. >"What do you want?" Trixie asked.
  205. >"Ah came to help." He said.
  206. >Trixie blinked and wondered why she was hesitating.
  207. >Very few ponies have offered themselves for help out of the goodness of their heart.
  208. >Even the two colts in Ponyville that acted as her roadies for a bit had their reasons.
  209. >Even then, he did back her up in the argument earlier, amd she appreciated that.
  210. >Trixie felt a pang of regret for snapping at Whiskey Rose and made a mental note to apologize.
  211. >"Very well." She said, opening the bottom part of the door to let him in.
  212. >"Ah can do this while you can get your sleep." He said, picking up some plates in his mouth.
  213. >Trixie hobbled to her bed and climbed in, careful not to cause herself too much pain.
  214. >Once she was in, she made sure to watch him work for a bit.
  215. >He was careful and meticulous, as if he lived here with her.
  216. >She could do with more people around like Big Mac.
  217. >With a deep breath, Trixie closed her eyes and immediately fell asleep.
  218.
  219. >Trixie was dreaming.
  220. >It was the previous night, but before her bones were broken.
  221. >She was trying to fight the three Diamond Dogs back, but found herself being pushed further and further back against the edge of a cliff.
  222. >Trixie glanced back, ready to face her imminent death.
  223. >Suddenly, Big Mac jumped up from the cliff, landing on one of the dogs and crushing it into a pile of goo.
  224. >With two swift bucks her sent the other two dogs blasting off again.
  225. >"I love you!" She said, giving him a hug.
  226. >"Ah love you too." Big Mac hugged her back.
  227. >Trixie noticed something else about him that she never noticed before.
  228. >She looked him in the eye and next thing that she knew she was face down flank up as he pounded her.
  229. >It was exceptional sex, and she was definitely close to-
  230. >A crowing rooster woke Trixie from the dream.
  231. >Swearing to herself, she noticed three things.
  232. >The first was just how neat and tidy the cart was now.
  233. >It was even cleaner than before it was ransacked by the Diamond Dogs.
  234. >The second thing was Big Mac curled up in the corner, asleep.
  235. >The third was an embarrassing, sticky wetness from Trixie's groin region.
  236. >Turning red, Trixie wondered how to discretely clean herself up when she heard another knock at the door.
  237.
  238. >Trixie panicked, and scrambled to get out of bed, putting a weight on her broken leg and causing her a lot of pain.
  239. >She noticed that Big Mac had also drawn his cutie mark on her cast.
  240. >She hobbled as fast as she could to the door, opened it, and found Whiskey Rose standing outside with a plate of eggs.
  241. >Rose sniffed a couple times smiled, then put the plate in the cart at Trixie's hooves.
  242. >"Thank you." Trixie said. "For everything."
  243. >"No problem." Rose asked. "Was it as big as I think it is?"
  244. >Trixie turned bright red. "We didn't!"
  245. >"Yeah, I bet, that's why your hind legs are looking weird and you're giving off that sex pheromone shit." Rose said before walking away.
  246. >Trixie quickly shut the door and grabbed a towel to clean herself up.
  247. >Whiskey Rose burst in through the door, waking up Big Mac.
  248. >"AH HA!" She shouted, pointing a hoof at Trixie.
  249. >There was a quite shift in her expression that said it wasn't exactly what Rose was expecting, but she was still happy with catching Trixie in a vulnerable moment.
  250. >Trixie stood there, magically holding a towel against her privates to clean herself up, but frozen out of shock.
  251. >"Clean up, Towelie!" Rose said. "We're going to the sheriff to talk about your crystal."
  252. >Whiskey winked at Big Mac before leaving.
  253. >Trixie and Big Mac awkwardly looked away from each other.
  254.
  255. >Night Wing walked around his two new captives, wondering just who to start with first.
  256. >Tied to two separate tables from one another, was Sheriff Silver Star of Appleloosa and Little Strongheart of the Buffalo tribe.
  257. >He figured he'd start with the sheriff.
  258. >"I'm looking for something specific, sheriff."
  259. >"Ah don care."
  260. >"A unicorn has something that I need."
  261. >"That's nice."
  262. >"Have you ever tasted buffalo, sheriff?"
  263. >The young buffalo girl's eyes widened. "What?"
  264. >"What?" The sheriff asked as well.
  265. >"I'm quite hungry, and I'm willing to try something new for breakfast." Night Wing gave a toothy grin.
  266. >The sheriff kept a stoic look on his face as Nigh Wing prepared to take a bite out of the buffalo's neck.
  267. >And he stopped.
  268. >"You don't care, if I kill her, do you?"
  269. >"Ah'd rather you feast on her than me."
  270. >"Because she's a buffalo?"
  271. >"Ah mean, uh" He stammered.
  272. >Night Wing gave off a hideous laugh.
  273.
  274. >Trixie, Big Mac, and Whiskey Rose trotted to the sheriffs office in awkward silence.
  275. >If Big Mac had anything to say, he didn't say it.
  276. >When they arrived, they caught Breaburn on his way out, upset about something.
  277. >"Why the long face?" Whiskey asked, a massive grin across her face.
  278. >"Sheriff's gone."
  279. >"Gone where?" Trixie raised an eyebrow.
  280. >"He was taken." Breaburn produced a couple of feathers and an axe looking device. "By buffalo."
  281. >"But didn't everypony make peace over pies or something?" Whiskey asked.
  282. >"Guess not, now if you'll excuse me-"
  283. >Breaburn pushed his way through the three of them as the Buffalo Cheif approached with an entourage of buffalo warriors.
  284. >"Chief Thunderwhooves."
  285. >"Mayor Breaburn, I come in time of great confusion."
  286. >The chief put down a cowpony hat
  287. >"My daughter has gone missing, and the evidence points towards you people."
  288. >"Well that's pretty coincidental, since my Sheriff is missing and your people must have done it."
  289. >"We have made peace, pony," Thunderwhooves got face to face with Breaburn, "do you suggest that we would bring war?"
  290. >To Breaburn's credit, he held his ground. "Yeah, ah do."
  291.
  292. >"So the only evidence they'll find is that which is incriminating each other!" Night Wing explained.
  293. >"You don't really expect our people to believe that, do you?" Little Strongheart said.
  294. >"Oh I don't give a damn what your opinion is." Night Wing said, picking up a scalpel. "I care what our fine sheriff's opinion is."
  295. >"Ah ain't talkin'"
  296. >Nightwing placed the tip of the scalpel on Silver Star's forehead. "Why do you persist, Sheriff?"
  297. >"Ah don' like the 'corn, but ah am a pony of justice."
  298. >"Appleloosa could be at war with the Buffalo right now, and you could go tell the truth and stop the fighting."
  299. >"Our people would never fall for such a ruse!" Little Strongheart shouted. "Our bonds have been strengthened!"
  300. >"Oh have they?" Night Wing chuckled. "Sheriff, how much do you trust your people and the buffalo to keep a cool head?"
  301. >Silence.
  302. >Beautiful silence.
  303. >"But, sheriff..." The buffalo girl was let down.
  304. >"He still has a centuries old hatred of his own pony races, my dear."
  305. >The sheriff was silent, having a better idea of his people's prejudices than the buffalo.
  306. >"If it's that crystal, it's in the 'corn's cape pendant."
  307. >"Now was that so hard?"
  308. >"You don't trust our people?" The buffalo was astonished.
  309. >"Ah don trust anypony to keep a cool head."
  310.
  311. >The Breaburn and a hoof full of Appleloosians were now in a full blown yelling match with the buffalo.
  312. >It was laundry day in Appleloosa now.
  313. >Trixie looked around, astonished at what she was seeing.
  314. >More Appleloosians were coming out of their homes, ready to join in the argument.
  315. >A buffalo sided up to Trixie, not intent on arguing.
  316. >"Are all ponies so hot tempered?"
  317. >"We all have our indifferences and problems." She said. "Except for me of course."
  318. >"We came here because we knew someone was trying to frame the ponies here."
  319. >Whiskey was taken aback. "How do you know that?"
  320. >"We are not so out of touch with with nature as you ponies are."
  321. >Whiskey began yelling into the crowd, trying to get their attention.
  322. >Her voice was lost amongst the chaos.
  323. >"Let me show you how it's done."
  324. >Trixie cleared her throat, and used her magic to amplify her voice so everypony could here.
  325. >"CEASE YOUR PETTY SQUABBLING AT ONCE AND LISTEN AS THE BUFFALO BRING GREAT AND IMPORTANT NEWS FOR YOU."
  326. >Everyone turned and looked, wondering how the mare managed to speak so loudly.
  327. >Apparently magic was not very well understood around here.
  328.
  329. >"Thank you, little pony." Chief Thunderhooves said, joining the buffalo next to Trixie.
  330. >"We have found my daughter has been taken, but our tracker, Trampled Under Hoof, has discovered it was not ponies that took her."
  331. >"How in the world do y'all know that?" Breaburn asked, raising an eyebrow.
  332. >"Pay attention to the land, pony. You may farm it, but you do not know it."
  333. >"So who took Sheriff Silver Star?"
  334. >"Perhaps the same group of dirt hounds that took my daughter."
  335. >Even though the name was different, it sounded too much like Diamond Dogs to not be a coincidence.
  336. >"They must be after my crystal!" Trixie shouted, putting a hoof on the gem clasp for her cape.
  337. >"Then I reckon we should give it to them." Breaburn said.
  338. >"I agree." Cheif Thunderwhooves nodded in agreement.
  339. >"But, this belongs to me!" Trixie protested.
  340. >The crystal was passed down in her family for generations, no pony could take that away from her.
  341. >"Is that one little gem really worth the lives being ruined to get it from you?" Thunderwhooves asked.
  342. >"Hey now, back the fuck off of her you overgrown walking carpet!" Whiskey Rose threatened.
  343. >She couldn't really give away something so special to her and her family, could she?
  344. >No, she is the Great and Powerful Trixie!
  345. >And she had a Great and Powerful plan.
  346. >"Fine." She spat her words at everypony. "I'll do it."
  347.
  348. >Trixie hobbled along with her party, using her magic to support her when she could.
  349. >The buffalo assigned their tracker, Trampled Under Hoof, to help find the thieves.
  350. >Whiskey Rose and Big Mac came with them, acting as envoys of Appleloosa.
  351. >They were all oddly quiet as the trotted through the night.
  352. >Every once in a while, Trampled Under Hoof would stop to sniff the ground.
  353. >Apparently, he was following a scent.
  354. >Whiskey remarked that he must be half dog.
  355. >Eventually they reached the most impromptu cave in the middle of the desert that Trixie had ever seen.
  356. >It seemed to just open out of the desert sand.
  357. >"The thieves trail splits here." Trampled Under Hoof said after eating a mouthful of dirt.
  358. >"But those that were taken lead to inside."
  359. >"Great, I didn't bring my shovel." Whiskey grumbled.
  360. >Trixie took a moment to try and take a good long look at the cave.
  361. >It was like a face had risen out of the desert and opened its mouth.
  362. >The jagged enter acne even resembled teeth.
  363. >Trixie really hoped she wasn't about to walk into a giant worm's mouth or something.
  364. >"I, uh, guess we go inside." Trixie said.
  365.
  366. >The party advanced into the cave, which slowly lost its light further in.
  367. >The occasional sound of dripping water echoed through the cave, amongst the clopping of hooves.
  368. >Trixie's horn began to glow as she lit the area around them, remaining in the center of the group.
  369. >A smell of a cooking fire began to waft through the cave, the dim orange glow of embers lighting their destination.
  370. >Accompanied by absentminded humming coming from up ahead as well.
  371. >As the approached the large chamber, they found a flying pony slowly stirring a large iron cooking pot over a fire.
  372. >He was humming along to a tune, his back to them as he beat his leathery black wings to stay afloat.
  373. >To his side was Sheriff Silver Star.
  374. >Tied to a table and covered in multiple lacerations.
  375. >The buffalo was nowhere to be found.
  376. >Trixie dimmed her light.
  377. >"It's about time my guests have arrived!" He said, not turning to face them.
  378. >"You're just in time for dinner!"
  379.
  380. >"Where is Little Strongheart?" Trampled Under Hoof said, ready to charge.
  381. >"Have you ever had buffalo wings?" The pony questioned.
  382. >"Guess it's a first time for both of us."
  383. >The big buffalo charged towards him, yelling in a strange, savage language.
  384. >The flying pony somersaulted behind as he got close.
  385. >The buffalo tripped on one of the rocks surrounding the fire and stumbled into the cooking pot, spilling a meaty stew all over himself and the floor.
  386. >He screamed as it burned him.
  387. >The pony turned to stare at Trixie with glowing yellow eyes.
  388. >His eyes narrowed as he spoke to her.
  389. >"And what did you bring to dinner, my dear?"
  390. >"Trixie will give you nothing!" She said, trying to hold her own against the cold stare.
  391. >"Trixie, don't fuck with this guy." Whiskey Rose whispered.
  392. >"He should not mess with the Great and Powerful TRRRRRIXIE!"
  393. >Trixie used her magic to amplify her voice to be much louder.
  394. >The flying pony winced at the piercing noise, and then charged.
  395. >"I'm done fucking around with you, unicorn!" He shouted.
  396. >Big Mac began to step in to protect her.
  397. >Trixie took a gamble and stood her ground.
  398. >Trixie's horn began to flash a bright, piercing white light.
  399.
  400. >The Night Wing hissed and closed his eyes, temporarily blinded by the light.
  401. >Why did she have to fight?
  402. >What is compelling her to hold on to the damn amulet shard?
  403. >Trying to find Trixie by sound, he charged at a moving pony, striking with one of his armored fore hooves.
  404. >It felt like he punched a brick wall.
  405. >"Nnope." Said a voice that was way to deep and masculine to be Trixie
  406. >Recoiling, his vision began to come to as the big red pony turned and bucked the bat pony.
  407. >He fly backwards into the chamber wall, dizzy from the attack.
  408. >This unicorn was full of tricks, and her pals would be no help for him either.
  409. >He figured this would be a milk run, but he didn't expect what he got.
  410. >Night Wing knew when he was beat.
  411. >He was going to have to beat the unicorn with a unicorn.
  412. >Falling back on plan B, he flapped his wings and took to the air.
  413. >"Dropping" a piece of paper.
  414. >"You haven't seen the last of me! That gem will be mine!" He said, using his flight to escape the cave.
  415. >Hoping that was enough to convince them, he left the cave into the night, heading on his way to his next target.
  416. >Trixie didn't know it yet, but she gave up any chance of being left out if this tonight.
  417.
  418. >"Yeah fuck you buddy!" Whiskey Rose shouted at the bat pony as she escaped, and then quickly went to attend to the Sheriff's injuries.
  419. >Trixie hobbled over to the piece of paper that the bat pony dropped as he escaped.
  420. >Big Mac followed her.
  421. >It was a letter.
  422. Night Wing,
  423. After you get the amulet shard from that unicorn, reconvene with Hex in Ponyville. She's managed to track down another shard in the possession of the library.
  424. And dump those blasted dogs while you're at it.
  425. ~Bones
  426. >"Ponyville?" Big Mac said, reading over Trixie's shoulder. "We hafta go there."
  427. >"What we have to do," Whiskey said, "is get these two back to Appleloosa."
  428. >Trampled Under Hoof was currently laying in a wet pile of stew, covered in mystery meat and vegetables.
  429. >His hair was singed.
  430. >"Where's the other buffalo?" Trixie asked.
  431. >Big Mac pointed towards a pile of bones ranging from small animals to pony sized skeleton pieces.
  432. >"We should probably bury them." Whiskey said.
  433. >"Not enough time." Trixie said, hobbling over. "We'll get these two to hell and then it's off to Ponyville for justice from the Judge, Jury, and Trixiecutioner."
  434. >It sounded better in her head.
