  1. Dear Valued Customer,
  2.
  3. Ingram Content Group (Ingram) is committed to providing quality and secure data services. As part of this commitment, Ingram continually reviews, evaluates, and audits our policies and technology assets and processes.
  4.
  5. What is changing?
  6. Effective April 15, 2024, Ingram will no longer support non-secured FTP connections. All existing and future FTP accounts must use Secure FTP (sFTP).
  7.
  8. Why is this important?
  9. Non-secure FTP data is passed over the internet unencrypted. This means that anyone, with the right tools, can read the data. sFTP data is encrypted and cannot easily be read while it passes through the internet, so it is more secure.
  10.
  11. What does this mean for you?
  12. If you pick up MARC records from Ingram’s server (either through your library automation system or another tool that talks to our FTP server) you are using FTP with Ingram. If you send us holdings to display in ipage so you can see your duplicates, you are using an FTP protocol to submit those holdings. If you use EDI with your automation vendor to transmit order data to us or receive invoices back, your system is using FTP for those transactions.
  13.
  14. What should I do right now?
  15. If you are an EDI customer, we have already talked with your library automation vendor and have a list of who has verified that their software will be sFTP compliant before our deadline. As we complete our conversations with the Library Automation vendors, we will let you know if you need to work with your vendor to update your system to support this change. Please stay tuned for future communications from us.
  16.
  17. If you work outside of your ILS to pick up MARC files from us, check your FTP program to see if it is currently sFTP or can be upgraded. Most of these tools are free utilities you download from the Internet and can easily be switched out or upgraded.
  18.
  19. If you send holdings files to us via FTP, check to make sure the software you use to transmit is currently sFTP. Most of these tools are free utilities you download from the Internet and can easily be switched out or upgraded.
  20.
  21. What’s next?
  22. If you are using FTP to send data to and from Ingram, please let the relevant people on your team know about this important change to Ingram’s security policy.
  23.
  24. We will continue to provide updates and reminders as we get closer to the April 15th deadline.
  25.
  26. As always, we want to help. If you have questions, please send an email to ilssalessupport@ingramcontent.com.
  27.
  28. Thank you in advance,
  29.
