  1. >Sunny Hill was clearly in utter shock by these news, her mouth was wide open and her bad-looking mane cut suddenly got as messy as if she had been drinking for two weeks straight…
  2. >“Uh…EHHH…I mean…” And she surely mumbled as if she had been drinking for two weeks straight
  3. >You were shocked too…not as much as that old device, but you definitely didn’t see this one coming, and of course, you didn’t wait to question why your cute classmates went with this decision
  4. “What?! But why?! I don’t get why you would choose me! I-I told you that I don’t have that kind of preparation or knowledge”
  5. >Gale Breeze shakes her head, looking at you with dreamy eyes “Well, your incredible speech won us over, my prince…” she gives you a wink that makes you take a step back
  6. >“I know that you were busy working with that essay, but basically, we discussed it, and discussed it, and discussed it more, and then we all agreed that you should be our nominee, because… well…” the little filly looks at you with complete admiration “that speech that you gave was REALLY cool, and you are the most intelligent foal in the class, and the most handsome…”
  7. >”ARGUABLY! He’s arguably the most intelligent foal in the classroom!” Comet Trail yells, flustered by Gale Breeze reasoning
  8. >”Yeah, whatever…” Gale Breeze rolls her eyes, adopting a more serious expression “Point is, we decided… all of us… that you are the perfect choice, so what do you say Anon, will you be our candidate and win the elections for us? Pweaaaaase?”
  9. >You look away and rub the back of your neck
  10. “I…well…I don’t know… Are you really sure that you want me to do this? Have you really thought of this through and through?”
  11. >The reaction of your classmates doesn’t take long to come, everyone starts cheering for you, encouraging you to take this honor
  12. >”Yeah, we know that you can do it!”
  13. >”You are the prince and all that!”
  14. >”…Isn’t he like the cutest colt ever?”
  15. >”He’s more handsome than cute, though…”
  16. >”Nuh-Uh! He clearly is cute! CUTE!”
  17. >”Why he can’t be both?”
  18. >”Ugh! Of course he’s both! But which one is he more? I say that he’s dashing!”
  19. >”Girls…I think that we are forgetting the point of this…”
  20. >You can’t help but laugh at the whole scene, and yeah, while their little advances were less than subtle, you still found everything adorable…as for taking or not the nomination…
  21. >The little advice that your moms gave you after the carnival echoes in your head…ponies will start looking up to you…you have to start accepting your title…
  22. >This was already happening, your classmates were looking up to you, confident that you will be a good leader for all the students in this school…and you had to rise up for this challenge
  23. >You close your eyes and let out a gentle sigh. You open them and look to Gale Breeze and the rest of your classmates with a confident smile
  24. “Very well…since that’s what my beautiful classmates has decided, then who I am to go against their wishes, right?”
  25. >The classroom erupts again in cheers and that stomp/clapping that you always found so entertaining to see.
  26. >You in turn, decide to adopt a more regal tone, trying to imitate Celestia with that same confidence and kindness that she always shows when addressing her subjects.
  27. “I know how much this means for all of you, so yeah, call me honored for receiving this confidence despite me not being your classmate and friend for too long, so you can be sure that I will do nothing short of my very best to put the class of the Class A of the Fifth Grade in the highest regard and win this election!”
  28. >”Wait, so that nerd is going to run against the Rumble?” Oh yeah…that little idiot was still here, wasn’t he?
  29. >And he doesn’t hesitate in ruining the mood “HAR, HAR, HAR! Ain’t this cute? Ya girls wantin’ to lose early because ya’ll wanted to have a piece of the Truffle! Well, doncha worry, babes! Ya don’t have to wait any more because here I am!”
  30. >But the reaction that he gets was again, the complete opposite than what the poor idiot anticipated, Gale Breeze stomps forward, looking pretty insulted “How dare you?! Get out of my class now, you…you…You, big gray jerk!”
  31. >”Woah! Calm down, sugar!” The little idiot gives Gale a sly grin, which she answers with a groan “The Rumble was just sayin’ the truth and the truth is that you ain’t going to shuffle the Truffle!”
  32. >Gale Breeze was red with anger, she gives the stupid colt a menacing glare and growls “Out! Now!”
  33. >The colt just raises an eyebrow and shrugs “Meh, as you say, sugar. The Ruffle better things to do, like being the coolest and most suave colt in Canterlot, ohhh yeah baby! Ya can bet your candy that the Ruffle will sweep this thing, no problemo!”
  34. >And the dude exits the room but not before giving the fillies a wink complete with a small dance to enhance “his looks”
  35. >”Ugh! What a jerk…” Gale Breeze growls
  36. >”Huh? Seriously? I thought that you really, really liked him!” Melodica jumps in, smiling cheerfully
  37. >”Wha-?” Gale Breeze’s cheeks go red and groan “Melodica! That was like, forever ago! Sheesh! Get with the times!”
  38. >”Uuuuh…really?” Melodica tilts her head in confusion “I thought that you and him were, you know, for like three months?”
  39. >”Actually Melody, it was three months and two weeks” Comet Trail corrects her friend with a polite tone
  40. >”You-“ The poor white filly slaps her head and sighs “Can we stop talking about this? The past is the past and all that…and Ruffle is a big jerk who breaks your heart by going out with other fillies behind your back!”
  41. >Huh…seems like your little beauties got derailed easier than you…that was…something
  42. >Gale Breeze takes some deep breathes to calm herself, and when she was a little less…angry, she looks at you with the same dreamy eyes “Which is the complete opposite from our prince right here…” she sighs “So tell me, what do you want to do first as our official candidate?”
  43. >T-that was a little disturbing, you take a step back making you take notice of Sunny Hill…she was still frozen in place, mouth wide open, if you didn’t know better, you would say that this was a sick parody of an actual sculpture…
  44. “How about we make the teacher to come back to reality? As much as I enjoy doing this and it has been like…hmm…how many times have I made Sunny Hill to go like this? eh…Comet Trail?”
  45. >”Yes, Anon?” The pink filly asks while gently caressing her peachy mane with her hooves
  46. “How many times has Sunny Hill…you know…got frozen by something that surprised her?”
  47. >”Oh… mmmm… you mean, since you got here?” Comet Trail asks you with some confusion
  48. >You nod to her
  49. >”This would be the tenth time, I have to say Anon” Comet Trail gives you a worried look “You really have a special talent for getting on Miss Sunny Hill nerves…”
  50. >You just chuckle and shrug
  51. “Not my fault that she can’t handle surprises…anyways…as I was saying, we need to make her go back to normal, after all, I doubt that this whole nomination will be official without her approval, besides, I wouldn’t want to see such a disturbing sculpture every single school day”
  52. >Gale Breeze nods and walks to your shocked teacher, shaking her gently “Miss Sunny Hill…Miss Sunny Hill, are you okay?”
  53. >After a few more failed attempts, you decide to give her a taste of her own medicine by using your magic to grab a chalk that was on her desk and throwing it at her face “What?! Who?!”
  54. >Sunny Hill quickly shakes her head, and walks slowly and weakly to her desk, where she takes seat and lets out a big sigh “Oh girls! I had a horrible nightmare! I don’t know why Princess Luna would ever allow for something so terrible to happen to one of her best workers!”
  55. >She slams her hooves on the desk, looking at the class with her eyes wide open, muzzle shaking “But it is true! I dreamed that Anon got elected as our nominee for the school elections! A-And the worst of all was that all of you decided unanimously! Ooooh!”
  56. >That…actually made you a little mad, that dusty antique really needs to chill with you, seriously
  57. >Sunny Hill takes a deep breath as she gets more comfortable in her seat “But it was nothing more than a dream, because I know that my precious students wouldn’t throw away this wonderful opportunity to the garbage by choosing that ruffian as our nominee…”
  58. >The white filly gulps and takes a step forward ”Uhhh, Miss Sunny Hill?”
  59. >”Yes, Gale Breeze?” Your “teacher” looks at the white foal with a gentle and relaxed smile, and asks her in the happiest tone “Have you girls finally decided on who our nominee will be?”
  60. >”Yeah…it’s Anon” Gale Breeze looks at Sunny Hill who was starting to spaz again “That wasn’t a dream, we all elected him as our nominee”
  61. >”Oh, goodness gracious! No!” Sunny Hill gasps, looking at Gale Breeze, then at the rest of the fillies of your class and then at you… “And what did he say?!” The old spider yells
  62. >In the calmest manner, you give her the biggest smug grin that you have ever made.
  63. “I accepted their nomination of course! And I have to say once more…”
  64. >You look at your classmates and make a little bow to them
  65. “I’m honored for having your confidence and I promise that you won’t regret the decision of choosing me as your nominee for the school election…”
  66. >You wish that you had a camera to capture the expression of Sunny Hill’s face when you said that last part.
  67. >Heck, you now wished more than ever to have Eris and Discord with you because there was no way in hell that they wouldn’t join you in laughing at her and dancing on her desk to celebrate this victory…then they would probably set her desk on fire…which you actually wouldn’t mind
  68. >”Well!” Sunny Hill was taking on the verge of collapsing again, but this time, she slams her right front hoof on the desk “I hope that you haven’t gotten any ideas about skipping your detention, Mr. Anon! Because there’s no rule that I’m aware of that stops a nominee from going there! And I wrote at least half of those rules!”
  69. >”But!-” Gale Breeze was quick to object, but you gently stop her and give Sunny Hill another smug smile
  70. “As you say, Miss Hill, I will be going to detention, just as you say, I mean, what kind of school president would I be if I started to think that I’m above the rules?”
  71. >Those words paired with your calm, yet smug attitude made Sunny Hill more angry than anything else than you could have done
  72. >Her left eye was twitching, her respiration was hard and slow, and she was glaring at you as if she was going to murder you…and you were enjoying every single moment of it.
  73. >But, as pleasant as this “victory” over that old mare was, you had job to do. These fillies were placing all of their confidence in you.
  74. >”So Anon…” Gale Breeze places in between you and Sunny Hill, “We still have the rest of the day to…you know…think about this whole elections thing, soooo, what’s the first thing that you want to do as our nominee?” Heh, seems like she thought the exact same thing
  75. “Actually girls, if it doesn’t bother you…I rather meditate for myself about what I will do next, please, don’t take it the wrong way, but well…I do kinda want to organize my thoughts”
  76. >”Oh! Uhhhm…” Gale Breeze looks at you with some disappointment, but nonetheless she complies “Okay…just… tell us if you need some advice or something, we are all here to support you because we are a team, right?”
  77. >You nod and smile to Gale and the rest of the class
  78. “But of course! It was actually YOU girls who won the opportunity to place a candidate! So it would be incredibly dumb from my part to not ask you, my beauties for help…but for now…yeah…I think that I will over there…and think for a while…”
  79. >You seat at an unoccupied table, looking at the ceiling…just in what mess did you get yourself into?
  80. >Well, the first thing that you have to accept, at least for yourself, its that you can’t actually guarantee a victory in this election
  81. >But that of course, wasn’t an excuse that prevented you from doing your best, you had to do this, for your classmates and for you. After all, you did promise something to your moms too.
  82. >Just like with these fillies, you promised them that you would do your very best to fulfill your title, that you wouldn’t back down when ponies look at you as a leader or as someone to look for advice.
  83. >The first problem that you will run into is of course a big, big one: you didn’t know anything about this school or its students beyond your classroom.
  84. >After that little incident during your first day at school, you had decided to not go out of your classroom, not even during recess. That way, you avoided another foal stampede asking if you were really the prince.
  85. >Which was honestly super annoying! Your photo and name have been in magazines and newspapers for months now! Why do they keep doing this?
  86. >Even that ugly as sin journalist, Feather-something keeps going on and on and on about you! And she always find something to criticize!
  87. >Like, who even cares that you once bought a vanilla ice cream with a mint cover on top?! It’s not bad taste, you ugly witch! It’s actually quite tasty!
  88. >And…yeah, you are getting derailed…you know, you really need to put a stop to this, your mind always keeps going and going with these useless ramblings, especially at school, but meh, it’s school, it’s not like you struggled with…with…dang…now you lost your train of thought…
  89. >Okay…okay…elections… big promises…yadda-yadda…Oh right! You don’t know anything about this school with the exception of your classmates, teacher and the principal!
  90. >The reason for that was that after your first day of school…waaaaait….you already went over this…you think…basically, you don’t go out of your classroom until the bell rings and then you go straight home.
  91. >Your adorable classmates didn’t mind that either since they stopped going out…something about not wanting to share the prince with the rest of the school…you honestly never gave too much thought about that, but now, it kinda seems…creepy
  92. >So alright, you don’t know anything about this school, but that doesn’t means that you can’t do some informed deductions.
  93. >You were in the class-A of the fifth grade, so that must means that there are other fifth grade classes, and this is a prestigious school…even if it hired someone like Sunny Hill…
  94. >But okay, prestigious school with multiple classes per grade…soooo…maybe there are two classes per grade? If you were right then you could start by meeting the class-B of the fifth grade and letting them now of the news.
  95. >As for the other grades…you don’t know anything and you can’t do any conjecture right now…except for maybe the sixth graders.
  96. >This is supposedly the first time that fifth grade has ever been able to place a nominee for the school election, which means that either all of the other grades has candidates….
  97. >Aaaand that’s highly unlikely for a number of reasons that you weren’t going to be bothered to go over right now
  98. >Or the other much realistic possibility was elections were decided only by the sixth graders nominees, you know that ponies aren’t like humans, they lack the malice that humans has
  99. >But at the same time, you can’t shake the feeling that it will be really hard to win those guys over, you were basically an outsider in this election, a complete new thing, and more importantly, they already had their own nominee.
  100. >Which brings you to your competitor: Ruffle Truffle. A complete imbecile, full of himself…and according to your teacher, he was also incredibly popular.
  101. >Frickin’ jocks man, you hated those guys, always talking down everyone because they were better at sports.
  102. > If Eris was here, she would have turned that dude into a popsicle, if there was someone who hated jocks more than you, it would probably be the girl who set fire Mercedes of the captain of the football team on fire…
  103. >But Eris wasn’t here…Discord wasn’t here…and you missed them…they were two of your best and closest friends and you haven’t seen them since the carnival…and you were getting derailed again, gosh!
  104. >OKAY! So they choose the school jock! Which would probably mean that most of those jerks are sixth graders, or Ruffle Truffle was stupidly popular, or both…
  105. >Any of those possibilities will of course make the election harder for you. Since your competitor is a popular student, he can just give away flyers that says to vote for him, place some posters on the halls, and that’s it…
  106. >You were the prince, that much is true, but you didn’t know who the students that you were supposed to represent are and they probably don’t know who you are outside of a picture that they saw in a magazine.
  107. >And so, your first route of action has become obvious. You stand up from your chair and walk with determination to your classmates
  108. “Alright, my beauties! I now know what we are going to do! And believe me, this will require the cooperation of everyone!”
  109. >”Yay! Team work!” Melodica jumps with glee
  110. >”Well, don’t keep us waiting!“ Comet Trail stands up, trying to contain her excitement but failing in the most adorable manner as her tail kept swinging from one side to the other “What did decide to do?”
  111. >You can’t help but to let out a small laugh
  112. “Okay, okay, calm down, I decide that my first official act as the fifth grade nominee will be…”
  113. >You do a little dramatic pause, just so you can enjoy a little the excitement of your entire class
  114. “To meet the other fifth grade class and tell them the news!”
  115. >And that kills the entire mood as every filly goes back to their seats, letting out a disappointed “Awwww!”… You also heard Sunny Hill’s muffled laughter…but you do your best to ignore it
  116. “W-what? I thought that all of you would love the idea?”
  117. >Every filly gives you an annoyed look, and of course, their complaints doesn’t take too long to arrive.
  118. >”But I don’t like those girls”
  119. >”Yeah, they are always jealous that they are not as pretty as us”
  120. >”Or as smart as us”
  121. >”Nah, they are just jealous because we have the prince.”
  122. >”Well, who wouldn’t be jealous? He’s a dream come true…”
  123. >Ugh…you slap your face and groan, shaking your head in annoyance
  124. >”Anon?” Gale Breeze comes to you, gently tapping your shoulder “Do you really have to do this? It’s just that…well…those other fillies…aren’t too nice…and we don’t like them...and they don’t like us…and I’m afraid that maybe…just probably, they won’t like you either”
  125. >You look at the worried white filly and pat her pink mane… she was blushing and giggling, oh wrong move! You step back from her and clear your throat
  126. “Yes, in fact, I’m quite sure that this is the correct decision because this IS a school election after all, and I’m afraid that outside of you, my beautiful classmates, I don’t know much about it, and the same goes for the rest of the students, they don’t much about me”
  127. >”What?!” Melodica jumps in, looking completely baffled “But your face is in like, everywhere! You are the son of the princesses! I don’t know anypony who doesn’t know you!”
  128. >You nod and smile at your magenta friend
  129. “Yes, Melodica, they know my name and face, but they don’t know who I am, they don’t know how I think, what I like, what I dislike, they don’t even know how my voice sounds like. I need to know the ponies that I will be supposed to lead and they need to know me too, so please…”
  130. >You look at your class with confidence…just like Luna and Celestia would
  131. “Trust me; this is something that we need to do if we want to win the election. As for that other group not liking me…we need to believe that we won’t have any problem if we do our best and of course have a little faith…”
  132. >The class remains silent for a while, until…
  133. >”Alright! I’m with you!” Melodica says with a happy tone…
  134. >Comet Trail sighs ”Me too…I don’t like this…but I’m with you one-hundred percent”
  135. >”Yeah…well, we do need their votes…”
  136. >”Ugh…whatever, I’m in too…”
  137. >”As long as is Anon who treats with them, I’m fine with this….”
  138. >”…Yeah, let’s do this! But they better not get any fussy ideas about stealing the prince from us!”
  139. >”See? I told you that your speeches were awesome, my prince…” Gale Breeze says with a giggle “Oh! And I will also help you with this, I mean, how could I say no to you…” she says with those dreamy eyes
  140. >This time you don’t step back, you just nod and offer another bow to “your beauties”
  141. “Thank you, my beautiful classmates! I promise that-“
  142. >”Friends…” Melodica interrupts you
  143. “What?”
  144. >”I said, that we are your friends, you keep saying classmates as if we weren’t friends, but we are friends, or well…we see you as our friend…and, and, you consider us your friends, right?” Your magenta friend asks with clear worry in her voice
  145. >You nod, giving your class- your FRIENDS a gentle smile
  146. “Of course we are, and again, thank you my friends…”
  147. >”Hey, what happened to the beautiful part? I actually liked that, you know?” Gale Breeze asks with some annoyance
  148. >You roll your eyes and before you correct yourself…the bell rings, marking the end of the activities for today…
