drif being drif

Drifloon got banned in LC.
This was honestly expectable however some including me see it as a slight dissapointment.
The dissapointment had little to do with drifloon but more with diglett.
Many people hilariously enough had changed there perspective against diglett in this suspect and just went '' oh it's pretty broke afterall''. Making them literally suggest things like ''If I could change my vote so we don't have to resuspect''.
This in my opinion shows how little people care to concider all parts of a suspects utility/infuance in the metagame before then make there opinion. This is what the discussion thread is for.
It's still peoples there opinion and they have all right to pick whatever they want however seeing as to how many didn't fully concider this pokemon is just so sad for me to see as this kept it from being banned in the first place.
People blately ignored most statements of drifloon and diglett and both there utility. Not even speaking of combined utility that Diglett had with about all of the metagame. Yes all of the metagame as i even make a joke statement around the fact it can support roughly anything to work better simply for how effective it is at supporting.
But concidering we are talking about Drifloon I want to make a quick note as to why it was banned. People now concidered the fact there is an issue and many agree this is caused by a combination of Diglett + Drifloon and the fact drifloon can be borderline broken as well.
The borderline broken part for drifloon is how it does force certain pokemon however this is caused by any A to S ranked pokemon. They all force people to run answeres to them. However in LC these answeres just happen to be top top glue or viability based pokemon. Pokemon like Ponyta, Magnemite, Chinchou and offencive answeres like Fletchling etc. There are other stratagies to list however these are all more of a situation of ''what set is it'' rater then ok this will deal with it. To Knock users still exist to remove it's utility and they should kno the fear of losing juice just to burn this Mienfoo or something.
Diglett comes in here as about all defencive counters or options are all prone to it's trapping. The only answeres that surpass this are uneffective and not too viable pokemon to begin with like Scarfed Amaura. These pokemon all also suffer from lack of recovery as they are purely offencively oriented.

So we finally came to a point where a pokemon has been banned for the utility diglett provedes hooray and Boo at the same time.
My point has been proven and my argument holds value as much as it did the first time I changed my mind around Diglett.

Now that is out of the way I want to take even a bigger step and look at a bigger issue with the ban system.
People like to ban stuff, people are very biased when they are asked if a poke should be banned or not some will think it from a full picture and some will keep there stubborn opinion. Now don't get me wrong far from all suspects are actually one sided. Infact only few suspects it did be easy to say no that's plain forward bad for the metagame. A pokemon like Fletchling for example had a different thing the priority, type and damage to break the meta appart.  Now it shows to be a healthy option against Sun, Snivy reveng killing, sweeping and stoping fight types while still having plenty of answeres including Steel types like Pawniard/Magnemite, Rock types like <Name any rock type that isn't Dwebble> and electric types like Chinchou. Other Tanks like Ponyta and Porygon can deal with it. Not even speaking of the creative answeres like Hippo/Vullaby/Lileep who don't resist it but have enough defence and ways of threatening it being by super coverage or by straight forward damage or even preventing it form simply setting up. This pokemon has at the time changed how we see things in a metagame all because people beleaved to view it from there standert original ideoligy against what is concidered broken.

If we saw the point even bigger we see that people even in actual one sided situation still refuse to acknowledge the issues at hand or beyond that point. This is not an issue of the community be a human flaw. Even I judge too quickly but it's important that we see how we can fix this by patience and concidering what the other people have in suggestion. This very statement goes back far for me as it's a big thing that the LC community lacks sometimes. One of my favorit examples with this is Boo's statement of Scarfed Diglett. It's orthodox, out of place but still relevant to Digletts suspect and only contributed to the it's overall utility.
The issue with this is that people in chat actually continued to joke about this subject as well it's scarfed diglett that sounds rediculess. However the point wasn't to say this is a good set, it was to point out diglett had versatility to work in other ways it being the not fortuna Sash set or this Scarf set allowes it to by pass evolved answeres to digletts utility as it can with this stop Scarfed Chinchou, Larvesta, Magnemite and other pokemon alike that already run Scarf simply to be viable and thanks to that aren't sheer bait to Life Orb Diglett. This doesn't mean people should all be running this set. But it means people need to keep in mind that reguardless of the standert advance we make agaisnt diglett that Diglett can do pretty much the same as well in trade for another part of it's utility in this case sheer strengt.
I already pointed out other visions like Sand Force Diglett for newer players and some older see it like a joke even tho if it was placed on a different pokemon this did actually be a threat as it KO's ALL the usual walls Diglett has being able to 2HKO Defencive Porygon for instance. It's easy to see when it will be sand force diglett as it's so rediculessly precies for teams that it should be seen as a compleatly serperat thing to the point it shouldn't add to digletts point of beign ban worthy but rater a legit normal functioning thing for a ballenced utility. This is also not an attempt at complex banning as that is imo one of the worst things you can do in a metagame. It makes for a joke worthy approach to how rules in a metagame work and how people should respect the rules. if we did put in half finished rules by banning for instance Arena trap on Diglett people did compair it to other issues like Gothita.
If we did ban Arena trap as a full people did complain about taking away viability of a ballenced pokemon in this case Trapinch.
I am pretty straight forward when it comes to trapping and think all forms of trapping even Pursuit to an extend can be ban worthy however this depends on the metagame and in LC the only things close to this kind of level is Digletts Arena Trap and Gothitas versatility with the Scarfed/Rest-Talk set. Even when I am not one of the people that thinks Goth needs to be banned as it needs too much withering to offencively trap and the stall breaker set suffers to function against offencive teams as a compleat wide reguard. It does however also limit pokemon but on an even scarier form as the Calm Mind set can punish any fat/Slow team lacking a strong Physical wallbreaker to the point of singel handedly sweeping them. This is a case of being unprepaired however this is more a forcement to offence + speed then anything else.
Pursuit is the oddest as it's an offencive form that takes a form of predicting exept in very few situations to actually work. For instance the fact it lacks damage against pokemon like Frillish allowing them to burn you as they feel no pressure to even switch because of it. Other pokemon like Gastly/Abra are very powerfull wallbreakers but the few existing answeres to it are mostly the Pursuit users and few walls like Porygon making it pretty easy to judge it did be worse if we didn't have them.
It's true to think trapping is an issue for pokemon as a whole however we only need to know the LC part of it.
For all that it is now is that Trapping from Diglett combined with the already questioned brokenness of Drifloon made for a fairly big majority wanting Drifloon Banned.
