11:18 PM - No Keiyaku Masuta: "The way the bird's contractees work, is that there's a certain gap in a person, like a slim crack, between their soul and physical form." She begins pacing back and forth across the altar, twirling the knife all the while. Her shoes click loudly with each step.

11:21 PM - No Keiyaku Masuta: "This blade of mine... finds that gap. And opens it. At which point, I remove that soul, where it continues to reside in the blade until I release it."

11:25 PM - No Keiyaku Masuta: "Yes, right here." She shakes the knife mockingly in your direction, before continuing her explaination. "Because, I recently discovered... when a youma consumes a human, it also absorbs their soul. A portion of it, at least. The more souls it absorbs, the more human it becomes. There is a significant amount of energy lost when the youma simply kills a human, though. So, the knife keeps that energy nice and safe, where I then funnel it directly into the youma. It needs a bit of refining before it can be used, but I have someone who does that for me, in exchange for a small part of the soul's power. In any event, she's grown very, very human. But she's not quite there yet. I just need a few more... then she'll be back to the way she was before!"
