  1. [S] ACT 4 ==>: Another Gankro-made walkaround, but Trickster Mode just makes John do the 'THIS IS STUPID' shrug at you. Also, your sylladex starts out full of all the random crap John's been captchaloguing and alchemizing. If you manage to look outside the camera's boundaries, you'll find two lines of text saying 'Resizing = bad aesthetics!' to the left and right of the play area.
  2.
  3. Gameplay notes: You can actually 'lose' in this walkaround by losing your health vial, which restarts the game. Also, you can actually damage enemies (for just over half their health) by shooting items at them when your sylladex overflows. Dropping or throwing your Barbasol Bomb on the floor makes it explodes! Dropping or throwing the Gushers on the floor releases what looks like build grist. The MANGRIT and BOYPLUCK vials are never heard from again (with the exception of the 'sprite mode' section of [S] John: Enter Village, which is the last in this walkaround style and preserves the Mangrit vial). It's possible for imps to drop cubes of Vitality Gel, as well as there being one next to the frog statue (and next to one of the salamnders close to the exit), that refill your health.
  4.
  5. There are three kinds of imps present: Shale imps, mercury imps, and cobalt imps. Each drops a specific kind of grist (in addition to Build Grist), and they have different amounts of health. Note: shale imps don't seem to drop tar grist in this flash like they do elsewhere.
  6.
  7. John asks Nanna if she was always this much of a prankster when she was alive. The answer's yes.
  8.
  9. Both crumpled hats and secret wizard robes become mainstays of salamander culture, both originating from items dropped from John's house during Act 2.
  10.
  11. One of the salamanders wants to 'punch him [the Heir] in the snout to... well, to accomplish some purpose' a reference to Problem Sleuth's 'punch __ in the snout to establish superiority'. The mushroom farmer's 'Farmin' these goddamn mushrooms. Fuckin' pain in the ass.' references HB getting punched into a horse calendar. Another references the 'misattributed quote' flash of Homestuck back in Act 1.
  12.
  13. In keeping with the Dersite attitude towards frogs, the frog John finds is called 'illegal contraband', although the desecrated frog statue is referred to as a 'cherished idol' by the salamander near it. There's also a cog in one of the pipes, possibly foreshadowing LOHAC. The firefly trapped in amber that you find is possibly Serenity, although this is never confirmed. The uncarved tablet and chisel you can pick up are later used by John to request an item. You can also find carved tablets depicting a hat and a shoe, requested by Dad, and fulfill these requests.
  14.
  15. There are several different conversations that you can trigger with Nanna (the icon on the top right flashes blue when a new one is activated). The initial one, one about frogs (by interacting with the frog statue), one about the Heir (by talking with any salamander that mentions the Heir), one about the new kinds of imps (by examining the big pipe in the ground), one about your house (by looking at your house with the telescope).

  17. Music: "Doctor" by George Buzinkai, Michael Vallejo and Clark Powell in Homestuck Vol. 4
  18. Remix of "Doctor (Original Loop)" by George Buzinkai in Homestuck Vol. 1-4
  19.
  20. This is Michael Vallejo's only known contribution to the Homestuck soundtrack.
  21.
  22. Art contributions from Cindy Dominguez
  23. This is the first page to feature specific art contributions, planting the seed for the art team's work. On this topic:
  24.
  25. "Also this update marks the first time a page in MSPA has featured art not drawn by me, or not plundered hamfistedly through google's vast image agglomeratrix. Cindy drew some nice assets for this, and for this I thank her. (Yeah she never updates her site. Believe me, I share your frown.) Maybe I will consider more distributed art projects in the future. I may have to, if I want to finish this goddamn thing some time this epoch."
  26.
  27. This page was revised shortly after its initial release to optimize the game's performance and to include the link to a map of the area.
  28.
  29. ==> (1361): RETCON WATCH: Arm at the lower left on the first panel.
  30.
  31. Jade: Switch to Jenga modus.: Another 413, obviously. The next thing to come out of the time capsule is WK. Floowed closely by Jack. The 12 hours added onto the 413 years is consistent with the fact that nighttime has fallen on the exiles by the time they arrive.
  32.
  33. Jade: Switch to Pictionary modus.: More poll-based decisions.
  34.
  35. Jade: Draw a pumpkin.: There's a pumpkin skulking away in the top right corner of the page. It wasn't there on the previous page, nor on the following page.
  36.
  37. ==> (1386): Johhny Five (from the movie "Short Circuit") appearing in place of mechanical objects being drawn continues to plague Jade further in the story.
  38.
  39. Dave: Pester Rose.: This pages references not only SBaHJ #10, but also Dave's rant about the relative size of meteors from way back.
  40.
  41. John: Answer troll.: A couple recurring ideas/phrases emerge here, being the ludicrous concept of 'human friendship' of which trolls were somehow not previously aware and the lines about stating things for the record.
  42.
  43. John: Search for your father's car.: RETCON WATCH: Rare full John retcon! You can barely see him warping in behind the ridge to the upper right.
  44.
  45. ==> (1400): It's... Never really explained why Dave's room is suddenly full of crows. Perhaps they're fleeing from the meteors falling all over the city?
  46.
  47. Jade: Move Dave's bed to the roof.: Quick little SBaHJ reference there.
  48.
  49. ==> (1406): Rose did the same thing to John's bathroom.
  50.
  51. [S] ==>: We get to see the shot of Zazzerpan that WV had seen at his command terminal. The font used for the land names is called "Carima", by the way.
  52.
  53. Music: "Endless Climb" by George Buzinkai in Homestuck Vol. 4
  54.
  55. AR: Cautiously drink TAB.: I won't be noting every single instance (impossible), but for a taste of how much Hussie reuses art, consider that this is literally the same shot of WV drinking tab with AR's police tape rags drawn on top.
  56.
  57. ==> (1411): I need you to keep in mind that the switch with a frog on it (that determines where the transporter takes you) is pointing towards the right (the kid's session). THIS IS IMPORTANT. The key used to change the setting is the same key needed to change the appearifier settings.
  58.
  59. ==> (1412): No word on what the 8-character password was.
  60.
  61. ==> (1414): Serenity: Yay!!!
  62.
  63. ==> (1415): RETCON WATCH: Oil at the top of the hole in the station's wall.
  64.
  65. Ok, John. Let's explore this place!: The line about the current perspective isn't in the actual flash, in case you were wondering.
  66.
  67. Seer.: This font is called "The King and Queen". Appropriate. Just as the walkaround confirmed John to be the Heir, now Rose is confirmed to be the Seer.
  68.
  69. ==> (1438): More 413 timers!
  70.
  71. ==> (1441): RETCON WATCH: Oil on Howie Mandel's gross monster elbow. The last time this image was used, it was also retconned, but that time the oil was on his knee instead.
  72.
  73. ==> (1442): Welcome to 'BLUH' panels. They're pretty great, and we'll be seeing more of them. I can't help but notice how similar this first instance of it is to when Hussie got covered in piss in the 'PLAY ME' comic.
  74.
  75. Dave: Kick that puppet out of the shower.: Callback to this pesterlog: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002286
  76.
  77. ==> (1447): "brainless feathery asshole" is exactly how the Rambunctious Crow was originally described.
  78.
  79. AR: Use gunpowder and empty crates to make a campfire.: WV is eating all the green foods.
  80.
  81. So many years ago, entrenched in the temporally oblique...: RETCON WATCH: Arm coming out of one of the pipes.
  82.
  83. AR?: Write the owner of this vehicle a ticket.: First good look at the pentagon symbol sometimes used to represent Prospit and Derse. AR wears a pentagon on his clothes here, presumably the equivalent of a sheriff's badge.
  84.
  85. ==> (1470): The giclops absconds while still holding the Telescopic Sassacrusher, unfortunately.
  86.
  87. ==> (1477): John also uses 'crappy sorry' to describe his drawing of Rose's shirt icon on his birthday note to her.
  88.
  89. PM?: Ready sword.: The same jumble of shitty swords from Dave's fridge. Speaking of, SBaHJ comic #12 was released at this time.
  90.
  91. AR?: Doff your hat to the attractive female.: The link on this page no longer works properly, but it's a Google image search for Barbasol.
  92.
  93. Is it not why you are here?: We previously saw Dave attempting to contact Rose and getting no reply, prompting a rant about the uselessness of laptop cozies.
  94.
  95. Enter.: The same drawing from when Rose first followed this tunnel to the lab, but with totally different colors.
  96.
  97. WV: Become the mayor of Exile Town.: The judicial bayonet seems like the same grenade AR was previously using as a gavel. Also, Dr. Brinner's letter reappears topping the town hall.
  98.
  99. WV: Fondly regard desert night.: Possibly a callback to 'fondly regard creation' from Problem Sleuth.
