  1. [1:55 PM] raven: Man I'm in white trash bel air
  2. [1:55 PM] raven: With a KKK chapter
  3. [1:55 PM] raven: Where I grew up
  4. [1:55 PM] raven: Saw a dude playing his GBASP
  5. [1:56 PM] raven: Yeah I haven't seen those in a while
  6. [1:56 PM] raven: And they have Fox News on
  7. [1:56 PM] Refa: lol
  8. [1:57 PM] raven: I'm changing the channel
  9. [1:57 PM] raven: In tempted to put on logo
  10. [1:59 PM] raven: American dad
  11. [1:59 PM] raven: Good!
  12. [1:59 PM] raven: Making fun of those fuckers
  13. [2:02 PM] raven: https://i.imgur.com/qydAdxm.jpg
  14.
  15. [2:03 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: I actually watch Fox News on the once in a blue moon occassion I watch the news
  16. [2:05 PM] raven: Ironically or nah?
  17. [2:06 PM] raven: Because they were literally just denying global warming
  18. [2:06 PM] raven: When I had it on
  19. [2:09 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: I actually do, and considering I don't think Global Warming is a thing. At the very least, if it is, it isn't a problem for me since even the scientists that think it's real say it won't be a problem for 300 years or some shit I guess ironically.
  20. [2:16 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: Granted, I tend to lean towards the right leaning side of the polictical spectrum, so feel free to take what I say as bigoted nonsense, I know the majority of the internet does anyway
  21. [2:16 PM] raven: It is a problem now and our life time
  22. [2:16 PM] raven: And global warming deniers are science deniers
  23. [2:16 PM] raven: You're literally denying a scientific fact
  24. [2:17 PM] raven: If I'm recalling right the coasts get flooded and inhabitable if we increase our world temperature by a fraction of s degree and that's basic thermal expansion of water
  25. [2:17 PM] raven: That's not counting the fact that the rising sea level completely changes our weather patterns
  26. [2:18 PM] raven: And there is a lot of empirical evidence behind this
  27. [2:18 PM] raven: The only issue is a long term model but all of the short term models have been satisfied if I'm recalling right
  28. [2:19 PM] raven: And those that say it won't be an issue for 300 years are idiots, it's definitely an issue to resolve in our lifetime and we should not jeopardize future generations because we want to use shitty cars
  29. [2:19 PM] raven: It's all corporations anyway
  30. [2:19 PM] raven: I'm extremely left leaning btw but global warming is one of those things that's fact
  31. [2:20 PM] raven: Like everything else is an opinion but this is objectively fact
  32. [2:20 PM] raven: There should be zero viewpoints on this aside from how to fix the issue
  33. [2:20 PM] raven: Or mitigate it
  34. [2:21 PM] raven: As opposed to its existence
  35. [2:25 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: I dissagree that's it's a fact from the simple standpoint of well, this
  36.
  37. The big planet threatning issue changes all the damn time, and honestly, I look at various historical stuff like this, as well as many conflicting reports on this issue, and I just have a hard time believing it exists. There's a reason the supposed name for this changed to Climate Change, and it's also the reason I have a hard time believing it's legitimate
  38.
  39. [2:26 PM] raven: You're using time magazine as an argument and not scientific literature?
  40. [2:26 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: I'm using them as an arguement that's it's a polictical issue dude
  41. [2:27 PM] raven: It's not a political issue
  42. [2:27 PM] raven: It was turned into a political issue by idiots
  43. [2:27 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: EVERYTHING in America is a polictical issue these days
  44. [2:27 PM] raven: On top of that - scientific articles in news magazines and papers are extremely sensationalized
  45. [2:27 PM] raven: Did you read the articles beyond the headlines? What about their sources?
  46. [2:27 PM] raven: Two headlines is not an argument
  47. [2:29 PM] raven: I've literally just explained the most basic physics concept - thermal expansion
  48. [2:29 PM] raven: Which is ages old
  49. [2:29 PM] raven: It's the reason your sidewalks crack bruh
  50. [2:29 PM] raven: In the summer
  51. [2:30 PM] raven: And this leads to rising sea levels by itself not counting the ice outside of water that falls in
  52. [2:30 PM] raven: And this also will cause natural disasters because things are closer into the coast. Look at coastal weather and multiply that tenfold because of increased humidity
  53. [2:30 PM] raven: And heat
  54. [2:30 PM] raven: Like Florida and New Orleans
  55. [2:31 PM] raven: They get some crazy ass weather
  56. [2:31 PM] raven: And again this is all fundamental physics and observation which you learn in high school
  57. [2:31 PM] raven: This also happens to match with observations
  58. [2:31 PM] raven: Read the scientific literature, not a headline
  59. [2:32 PM] raven: The political part is how to mitigate the effects
  60. [2:32 PM] raven: Or it should be
  61. [2:34 PM] raven: Also t was changed to climate change because global warming is misleading in a way
  62. [2:34 PM] raven: To the general populace
  63. [2:34 PM] raven: The cause of climate change is the literal warming of the earth
  64. [2:34 PM] raven: Global warming is the cause climate change is the effect
  65. [2:43 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: And, yet, I live in Alafrickenbama, and we're in the middle of a drought. I do read scientific literature, and the fact is, global warming is still considered just a theroy. Theroies aren't always accurate, sure, one can believe it just as much as one can choose to believe in the theroies of evolution or contieneital drift. The fact remains that while plenty of peole wholeheartedly believe these things, they are still just theroies and are not 100% accepted truths even in the scientific community. I choose not to believe Global Warming is real, because where I live has experienced significantly colder winters in the last 5 years, and yet we've also had dryer and hotter summers, call it Climate Change if you want, I call it weather being unpredictable.
  66. [2:44 PM] raven: Theory is scientific truth
  67. [2:44 PM] raven: Don't spring that argument on me
  68. [2:44 PM] raven: Global warming leads to colder winters
  69. [2:44 PM] raven: That's part of the theory
  70. [2:44 PM] raven: Because more humidity in the winter (which results from rising sea levels) leads to colder weather
  71. [2:45 PM] raven: What scientific literature did you read and how did you argue against it? You basically just said "I'm choosing to be willfully ignorant"
  72. [2:45 PM] raven: And I have literally just explained how global warming and climate change are just names and why those names exist and you chose to ignore it
  73. [2:49 PM] raven: The people who do not believe this things happen to not be scientists
  74. [2:49 PM] raven: I would like to point out
  75. [2:50 PM] raven: Global warming is also objectively true the part people disagree on is whether or not humans are the cause of it
  76. [2:51 PM] raven: And even then 97% of scientists agree people are the cause based on surveys
  77. [2:53 PM] raven: Also I'm from Maryland and growing up our weather has gone from kind of crazy to completely insane
  78. [2:53 PM] raven: In a span of 23 years
  79. [2:54 PM] raven: Like we just had a flood in Ellicott city that happens like once in a millennium
  80. [2:54 PM] raven: And we get snow in May and then 105 degree weather in June
  81. [2:54 PM] raven: Keeping in mind I live on a coast where the effects are crazier and there more pronounced
  82. [2:55 PM] raven: Therefore*
  83. [2:57 PM] raven: Also my bad with the 97%, the 97% figure refers to climate scientists who have said warming is caused by human behavior
  84. [2:57 PM] raven: Not 97% of scientists
  85. [3:00 PM] Comet7: faux news
  86. [3:02 PM] raven: @essarcie did you see the home alone speed run
  87. [3:07 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: Dude, the definition of theory is literally something, that while generally seen as correct, is not a 100% truth
  88.
  89. I'm leaveing several articles I read to reach my conclusions, some feeling accurate, others the literal definition of insanity

  107. Granted, I tried to cover both angles with my reading, as I do with all things, and some of the things I linked are the sources of some the sites, as I felt they were worth while, even if one's a Wikipedia article which is a site I don't trust. The fact is, NO ONE is in 100% agreement on if this even exists or not
  108. [3:08 PM] raven: I'm not reading all that shit but your sources are awful
  109. [3:08 PM] raven: Forbes? Really?
  110. [3:08 PM] raven: If you want to contradict global warming you need to get legitimate scientific literature
  111. [3:08 PM] raven: Like the papers
  112. [3:08 PM] raven: And show that all their data and conclusions are bullshit
  113. [3:08 PM] raven: Forbes is unable to do that
  114. [3:09 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: I literally said some the sources were insane, dude. At least read my fucking introduction to the text
  115. [3:09 PM] raven: Skeptical science is unable to do that
  116. [3:09 PM] raven: Then why link them?
  117. [3:09 PM] raven: And hold on
  118. [3:10 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: Because I wanted to link EVERYTHING I read to cover all of my bases
  119. [3:10 PM] raven: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_theory?wprov=sfsi1
  120. [3:10 PM] Comet7: there is a difference between scientific theory and theory in everyday talk. it's like saying face in math and face when refetring to the body.
  121. [3:10 PM] raven: That should explain a theory
  122. [3:10 PM] raven: It's a conglomeration of evidence to produce an explanation of physical phenomena
  123. [3:11 PM] raven: And it's 100% correct in its jurisdiction
  124. [3:11 PM] raven: That's a scientific theory
  125. [3:11 PM] raven: @Comet7 is correct pretty much
  126. [3:11 PM] Trump's Final Form: Hi friends 😄
  127. [3:11 PM] Comet7: LOL
  128. [3:11 PM] raven: If it weren't correct in its jurisdiction then it would not be a scientific theory
  129. [3:12 PM] Trump's Final Form: Are we talking about the "theory" that Fire Emblem is the best series? 'Cause I'd argue that's a law.
  130. [3:12 PM] raven: Believe me?
  131. [3:13 PM] raven: This is the shittiest trump impression didn't even say believe me
  132. [3:13 PM] Comet7: nah it's say it's a hypothesis
  133. [3:13 PM] Comet7: @Trump's Final Form
  134. [3:13 PM] raven: Like that sounds like a nerd not Donald trump also your profile picture is freaky
  135. [3:14 PM] Comet7: raven can you tell me why it takes less time for colder water to start boiling than warmer water
  136. [3:14 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: Dude, Evolution is a scientific theory, and there's a great deal of people, scientists included, who don't believe that
  137. [3:14 PM] raven: I have no idea how that works
  138. [3:15 PM] raven: If a scientist doesn't believe in evolution they're a shitty scientist
  139. [3:15 PM] raven: I will point that out now
  140. [3:15 PM] raven: Because they deny a scientific theory
  141. [3:16 PM] raven: If evolution were a hypothesis then sure but it has made the leap to scientific theory
  142. [3:16 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: Evolution is bullshit
  143. [3:16 PM] raven: I am in grad school for a PhD in physics and I have gone through some shit about HOW the literature is published
  144. [3:16 PM] raven: And the literature goes through shitloads of scrutiny before it can be published
  145. [3:17 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: No one will EVER convince me otherwise
  146. [3:17 PM] raven: Because it's pretty obvious you let your opinions get in the way of the fact
  147. [3:17 PM] Comet7: Did you know that we have gills and a tail as a fetus early on?
  148. [3:17 PM] raven: What makes evolution bullshit? Because humans don't evolve from monkeys? Because that's not what evolution is saying
  149. [3:17 PM] raven: Actually
  150. [3:17 PM] raven: You know what
  151. [3:18 PM] raven: @Comet7
  152. [3:18 PM] raven: > Because it's pretty obvious you let your opinions get in the way of the fact
  153. [3:18 PM] raven: It's not worth it
  154. [3:18 PM] Comet7: yeah i know
  155. [3:18 PM] Trump's Final Form: My counter arguement is that it's not a hypothesis because it's been tested. Sure, quite a few of the games prior to Awakening weren't so good and Awakening pretty much saved and defined the series but that's just the thing. Awakening made FE great again.
  156. [3:18 PM] raven: Yo who are you lol
  157. [3:18 PM] raven: Err
  158. [3:19 PM] raven: I didn't want to quote that
  159. [3:19 PM] raven: It was the
  160. [3:19 PM] raven: No one will convince me otherwise
  161. [3:20 PM] Comet7: well, gravity is a theory after all...
  162. [3:21 PM] Trump's Final Form: I disagree with the common perspective.
  163. [3:22 PM] raven: @Comet7 there's a committee on science and technology
  164. [3:22 PM] MCPro/The Man Who Sold The World: No, I do my research before deciding my opinion. I just happened to decide after research combined with common sense evolvolution is bullshit
  165.
  166. Simple, if humans evolved to this level of intelligence, then why the hell has no other species done so and why aren't we able to see at least ONE species of the millions on this planet evolve. I understand why we aren't definitely evolving, but with the sheer amount of life here, you can not tell me we wouldn't have records of at least one species evolveing in all the time that humanity has been documenting things
  167. [3:23 PM] raven: You need to educate yourself with something beyond a few internet articles
  168. [3:23 PM] raven: Plus we see shit evolve
  169. [3:23 PM] raven: Learn about how antibiotics work and why they change up and why you need to take all your doses daily
  170. [3:24 PM] raven: On top of that its a slow process but there's a lot of shit leftover from a common ancestor
  171. [3:24 PM] raven: On top of that dolphins are intelligent bruh
  172. [3:24 PM] raven: They're also mammals
  173. [3:24 PM] raven: Basically you've been reading the wrong shit lol
