  1. (2019-10-18 00:19:32) Eclipsia: heya
  2. (2019-10-18 00:19:55) Eclipsia: I'd really like you to watch something
  3. (2019-10-18 00:20:20) Eclipsia: and it isn't hypno, but is at the the same time
  4. (2019-10-18 00:22:10) Eclipsia: I think it might make you a better tist
  5. (2019-10-18 00:22:44) Eclipsia: and your insight and comments on the lecture might make me better too
  6. (2019-10-18 00:22:50) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] What lecture?
  7. (2019-10-18 00:23:05) Eclipsia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8emPcpfqPRU
  8. (2019-10-18 00:23:25) Eclipsia: its a *really* good talk
  9. (2019-10-18 00:23:46) Eclipsia: its about abstract math
  10. (2019-10-18 00:24:05) Eclipsia: but the way the gal structured her talk
  11. (2019-10-18 00:24:19) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] Since we have a data limit, we'll have to wait until Compu-Celebi brings his computer to somewhere for public Wi-Fi access to watch the video.
  12. (2019-10-18 00:24:32) Eclipsia: it starts off as a very ericksonian induction
  13. (2019-10-18 00:25:21) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] Are you saying the lecturer accidentally did something that was like an Ericksonian induction?
  14. (2019-10-18 00:25:33) Eclipsia: yes
  15. (2019-10-18 00:25:53) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] I'm not familiar with Ericksonian hypnosis.
  16. (2019-10-18 00:26:02) Eclipsia: I think I'm actually going to reach out to the gal
  17. (2019-10-18 00:26:16) Eclipsia: because I admire her thinking
  18. (2019-10-18 00:26:45) Eclipsia: and point out that was she did was the same thing as erickson
  19. (2019-10-18 00:27:14) Eclipsia: and hopefully she bites and we can start a discourse
  20. (2019-10-18 00:27:35) Eclipsia: but like its amazing
  21. (2019-10-18 00:28:21) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] How do you figure the video would help me?
  22. (2019-10-18 00:28:32) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] Do you think it's a good introduction to how to do Ericksonian inductions?
  23. (2019-10-18 00:28:45) Eclipsia: the gal giving the talk
  24. (2019-10-18 00:29:22) Eclipsia: is an abstract mathematician
  25. (2019-10-18 00:29:56) Eclipsia: that field, which is actually one I'm quite familiar with
  26. (2019-10-18 00:30:28) Eclipsia: allows you to use logic to emathize with people
  27. (2019-10-18 00:31:17) Eclipsia: and she gives examples in how to use it to in her talk
  28. (2019-10-18 00:31:42) Eclipsia: and it's the deep learning I use in my own play
  29. (2019-10-18 00:32:06) Eclipsia: I think it might help ya with your autism
  30. (2019-10-18 00:32:36) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] What does mathematics, abstract or otherwise, have to do with empathy?
  31. (2019-10-18 00:33:43) Eclipsia: the point of her talk is the answer is everything
  32. (2019-10-18 00:35:22) Eclipsia: what she does in the talk
  33. (2019-10-18 00:36:35) Eclipsia: is constructs several mathematecal frameworks around feelings, states of priveledge, human sexuality, etc
  34. (2019-10-18 00:36:58) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] I don't see those things as mathematical.
  35. (2019-10-18 00:37:13) Eclipsia: and uses math behind it all
  36. (2019-10-18 00:37:23) Eclipsia: you will
  37. (2019-10-18 00:37:46) Eclipsia: its why I think you'll like it
  38. (2019-10-18 00:38:30) Eclipsia: this is how I am able to get over my autism and relate to the world
  39. (2019-10-18 00:38:37) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] I suppose you figure that them being mathematical would make them easier for someone like Compu-Celebi to understand.
  40. (2019-10-18 00:38:51) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] Why do you think you needed to "get over" your autism? It's not a weakness.
  41. (2019-10-18 00:39:22) Eclipsia: being a jerk is a weakness
  42. (2019-10-18 00:39:44) Eclipsia: period
  43. (2019-10-18 00:41:52) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] You think autism made you a jerk?
  44. (2019-10-18 00:42:59) Eclipsia: the fact you aren't able to empathically relate to someone, yeah, it makes you a jerk
  45. (2019-10-18 00:43:19) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] I don't see the connection.
  46. (2019-10-18 00:44:27) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] I know autism tends to get in the way of social skills and that Compu-Celebi's no exception to this, but that doesn't cause people to be rude. It just causes them to do things that get misunderstood as rude, offensive, or whatnot by other people, especially neurotypicals.
  47. (2019-10-18 00:45:13) Eclipsia: when you can't recognize what someone else is feeling
  48. (2019-10-18 00:45:47) Eclipsia: and put yourself into their mindset as you communicate with them
  49. (2019-10-18 00:46:05) Eclipsia: (really the definition of empathy)
  50. (2019-10-18 00:46:22) Eclipsia: it makes you a jerk
  51. (2019-10-18 00:46:23) Compu-Celebi: [Mistress Jigglypuff] I know what empathy is. I also know there's affective empathy and cognitive empathy.
