Full Backstory: After publishing her first report, she was approached by members of the Kuzuryu clan for a little bit of research of their own. Entranced by the large sum of money they offered her, she accepted. They had her working on researching more efficient methods of psychological torture. After a year of working with them, she decided to stay on full time, as her family was no longer struggling to survive because of the Clan's money.
