  1. [JackOLantern1982 r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - July 2019]
  2.
  3. The next GTA title has been in development since 2012, but production didn't begin properly until 2015, but even then the team was focusing more on Red Dead Redemption 2.
  4.
  5. It's another Rockstar Worldwide Production.
  6.
  7. Codename is PROJECT AMERICAS.
  8.
  9. Set in both Vice City and a new fictional location based on Rio de Janeiro.
  10.
  11. Some linear missions take place in Liberty City, but it isn't an open world (think Ludendorff in GTA 5).
  12.
  13. Game will balance realism and arcade and it won't be as realistic as Red Dead Redemption 2.
  14.
  15. One playable protagonist: male, not female, despite supposed leaks.
  16.
  17. Set in 1970s-1980s.
  18.
  19. You play as an up and coming drug lord-wannabe named "Ricardo". Another key character called “Kacey” is a part of the narrative. You start off as a grunt doing runs as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City to the new large South American area before making connections with big time drug lords and making your way up. Multiple cities.
  20.
  21. There will also be a giant prison which will play a part in the game.
  22.
  23. Will feature a 'chapter' system similar to a Tarantino flick or Red Dead Redemption 2.
  24.
  25. Weather is a heavy focus (hurricanes, floods, etc).
  26.
  27. Buildings change over the eras, vehicles too. So older, rare classic cars get more expensive as time progresses etc. Full economy.
  28.
  29. Heavily inspired by Netflix's Narcos.
  30.
  31. They want to have an incredible 70s/80s soundtrack.
  32.
  33. A younger Martin Madrazo will make an appearance as will his father who is a big drug lord at the time. You do some missions for the Madrazo family involving hits on other gangs.
  34.
  35. Drug empire building is a mechanic similar to Vice City Stories but bigger. Think the GTA Online system and dial it up to 10.
  36.
  37. You can only have weapons on your person. No arsenal in your back pocket, like Red Dead Redemption 2.
  38.
  39. Your personal vehicle will be like your horse saddle in Red Dead Redemption 2. All your equipment is stored in the trunk. You also store your body armour in the car. If you wear it, it appears, no longer just an invisible thing.
  40.
  41. There will be tons of subtitle reading. Think Max Payne 3 amounts, very immersive, like watching an episode of Narcos. Whenever you're in South America, don't expect to hear much English. Vice City however is a mix of everything, but mostly English.
  42. Last bit of narrative info, it will discuss topics such as HIV and the immigration crisis of the time. A fictional version of Fidel Castro etc.
  43.
  44. Next-gen only, not PS4 or Xbox One [aka PS5 and Xbox Project Scarlett]
  45.
  46. GTA 6 is now their primary focus, alongside another title (which might be Bully 2).
  47.
  48. Game is still in Pre-Alpha so names, locations, details could and probably will change.
  49.
  50. No ETA on a release date.
  51.
  52. [Follow-up]
  53.
  54. The game will take place in North American and South American locations, currently under the codename "Project Americas", for the next generation systems. It will include 3-4 major cities:
  55.
  56. - Vice City / Everglades
  57.
  58. - Havana, Cuba
  59.
  60. - Somewhere in Panama / Brazil / Columbia -- These parts of the map are still under development.
  61.
  62. Vice City will serve as the major focus but we may not start out there. All the cities/islands outside the US will be named by their real names. As far as the map size, I am not sure how much bigger it will be to GTA5, but the map will be very spread out. So it will "feel" bigger. From what I've been told "the cities will have depth as oppose to scale". Meaning more enterable buildings and interactability. And each city will be separated by large distances of water. I'm assuming we'll likely be able to fast travel, but on your own it will take you 10-15 minutes to fly to each city across the map. I thought that was interesting.
  63.
  64. The game is in very early stages of development, and not much is known about the story. But it will span over multiple decades (70s, late 80s, and Present day) and will revolve around a drug smuggler named Kacey. There's been a rumor that time will progress through the game as you play it. So each "chapter" will be set in the 70s, or 80s, and as you play through the mission... songs will change, buildings will become closed, cars and characters will decay with time. This was concluded by my source because cars that predate 2000 are being designed in multiple "stages" to mimic the progression of time. And there's A LOT of vehicles being made that predate present day. At the moment, almost 70% are before 2020. 30% are present day.
  65.
  66. Weather is being modeling to create category 4-5 hurricanes. Hurricane Heist?
  67.
  68. There is a HUGE prison in the game, possibly a variant of Guantanamo Bay. I have zero info on story, but due to the sheer size and interactability, I would expect the prison will play a major chapter in the game.
  69.
  70.
  71. [DeepthroatVI GTAForums - August 2019]
  72.
  73. GTA VI will begin in 1970s Liberty City as you play as a low-level gangster in the Spanish Broker/Harlem district of Liberty.
  74.
  75. The game will feel very immersive, there is a weight to the way your character walks and being in Harlem feels huge. Strangers, Freaks and Friends can call or be bumped into at anytime. This is GTA IV's Liberty.
  76.
  77. The game is divided into chapters by years, it is a Three Act story with an Epilogue.
  78.
  79. The Protagonist's name has not been set in stone yet.
  80.
  81. He is described as a 20-something character with a Naval Officer absentee Gringo father and a South American mother. He is a Bilingual dime bag dealing, jewelry snatching criminal who enters the drug trade to support his large family in the fictional city of Republic of Castellano, South America which is Rockstar's version of Colombia and Bolivia. During the Prologue, set in LC 1978, you are employed to kill the Boss of the Gambetti family named Sonny which leads to you heading down to Vice.
  82.
  83. The drug business is very next level. You first begin selling weed in Liberty for then end up as a Smuggler for the Pacific Cartel, an International drug syndicate based in Mexico and South America who are looking to expand into the US.
  84.
  85. Eventually, you are sent to smuggle cocaine back and forth from Vice City to Liberty. In this part, you can actually drive down to Vice from Liberty and as you earn more trust and money, you can use planes, smuggle the drugs through Escobar International through connections and bribes.
  86.
  87. Every route has it's own risks and rewards and the DOA (Rockstar's DEA) play a major role in the story.
  88.
  89. As you arrive in Vice City, you are given more responsibilities as a Crew Leader in the Cartel. Here you are able to assign your own smuggle operation by going to South or Central America to find a solid source for quality cocaine and as you raise higher in the Organization, you meet and are able to travel to a fictionalized South and Central America, along with Mexico.
  90.
  91. You get to have people working under you and your job is to make your cocaine import/export run smoothly for the Cartel. These people you can meet through out the game much alike Heists from GTA V - GTA Online will allow players to join campaigns with their own customized characters. Character customization is much more detailed, ethnicity, a selection of voices that allow you to lower or raise the pitch, body type, more realistic faces, clothing so think of your Online character looking like he belongs in the Story instead of the Supermodel, crazy looking online characters of GTA Online.
  92.
  93. Starting off, you can meet new contacts however the deals that usually take place in cheap motels carry the risk of being a set-up by other players, or criminals for stepped on cocaine, lower grade coke, no cash, etc.
  94.
  95. As you make money, you can invest into a fleet of planes with pilots, boats and choose routes that have a risk/reward factor financially. You have your own inner circle of friends. A storyline arc involves an Undercover FIB agent in your crew.
  96.
  97. The Pacific Cartel has an internal dispute and a war takes place on the streets of Vice City.
  98.
  99. A chapter revolves around you being actually sent to Prison and sentenced. The Prison chapter is about you surviving, making new contacts and discovering vital information and dealing with enemies while attempting to keep your business going, there are various Prison gangs with the Aryans/KKK being secondary antagonists in the story.
  100.
  101. Here's the best part, when you are released it is the 1980s and the Pacific Cartel have split into three Cartels - Madrazo, Sr. leads the Mexican Cartel, "Matriarch" leads the South American Cartel and "Dictator's Son" runs the Central American Gunrunning Cartel. You can work for Madrazo Sr. (Good Choice), Matriarch (Neutral Choice) or Dictator's Son (Bad Choice). Madrazo moves back to Mexico and leaves you in charge of the Vice Cartel, "Matriarch" leaves you with much of a higher grade quality of cocaine and a different type of Cartel, "Dictator's Son" leaves you without anything but all-out war.
  102.
  103. You also have a strong rival, who is described as an Anton Chigurh type of freelance Hitman named 'The Mexican'. You have multiple, scripted very intense encounters with him and acts and moves like the Nemesis from RE3. Hard to kill. As your organization is being taken down, you two end up becoming allies and team up.
  104.
  105. The gameplay is much more reserved than previous games, with various paths you can take which lead to multiple endings. You can hold up to two or three handguns on your person, for larger weapons you need a duffle bag to use them.
  106.
  107. Trunks have a use such as storing cocaine packages, weapons and bodies. If you are busted, you are sent to Prison for a period of time which is not playable (only the Chapter)
  108.
  109. The aim of the game is become the main kingpin of the United States. In Liberty, the Five Families make a return, the 1970s Spanish Lords and Black Harlem gangs. Cocaine can be broken down into crack and you are pushed by the IAA to flood Black neighborhoods with crack-cocaine.
  110.
  111. There are SIX main locations which is the main theme of the game.
  112.
  113. Main Cities :
  114.
  115. - Liberty City (Limited Area)
  116.
  117. - Vice City (Main City)
  118.
  119. - Rio de Neve, South America (Rio de Janeiro, Main City)
  120.
  121. - Republic of Castellano, South America (Mix of Bolivia and Colombia, Main City)
  122.
  123. Minor Cities :
  124.
  125. - People's Republic of del Castro, Central America (Fictional Central American island based on Panama and Cuba, Island)
  126.
  127. - Mexico (Mexico, Limited Area)
  128.
  129. Prologue : 1978
  130.
  131. Main Story : 1980s
  132.
  133. Epilogue : Present Day
  134.
  135. A lot of modern players will have to get use to the new contact system. No mobiles. To call people, you can use payphones which are scattered around every city. Eventually once you are in the 1980s, you can gain access to a brick Phone then a Satellite Phone for International calls.
  136.
  137. However, GTA Online will be set in the 1980s and allow players to join another person's main story campaign as a member of the Protagonist's crew - up to four players can join in on a Story while the Online mode has it's own Story. You can choose different classes: the Undercover, Cartel member or a member of one of the Five Families with only Liberty, Vice Playable. You will be able to run your own crews and work for the Story mode's Bosses to earn money. Each class has their own perks, being Undercover allows you to report back to your Staff Sergeant in either Vice or Liberty, working for the Cartel allows you to help smuggle drugs from Vice to Liberty and being apart of one of the Five Families can allow you to become a "Made Man".
  138.
  139. The driving mechanics are a mix of IV realism and V arcade controls. VI on foot mechanics are more on the realistic side. If you want to bring an RPG to a mission, you have to use a van to store it in or a car with a large trunk. Weapons can be bought and sold off on the Black Market. Your character can gain weight or lose it. He can build muscle but not unrealistically big. This is a very grand immersive ambitious title.
  140.
  141. One thing that became the main focus of GTA 6 is immersion and feeling like any and everybody can be approached, the ability to feel like you are apart of an epic crime drama while blending cut scenes, gameplay and events with a dynamic system that feels like a living world with real people with set populations. You kill someone like a civilian? Expect the Vice Dade to investigate it. This can come back to bite you later as days or weeks pass, you could be arrested. Imprisonment isn't just a quick cutscene, it's an actual punishment. You lose time, value, the respect of your peers and money.
  142.
  143. Having a close friend in your crew being an Undercover FIB Agent is meant to jolt your emotional sensibilities. Rockstar are really pushing the boundaries of establishing relationships with the people around you then having you make tough choices. Want to be Tony Montana? Then imagine playing Red Dead 2 as Arthur, finding out Charles or Mary Beth were working for the Pinkertons then knowing you have to put a bullet in their skull then getting rid of the body.
  144.
  145.
  146. [herenthere4six r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - December 2019]
  147.
  148. I did QA testing for RDR 2 and GTA 6, the latter starting preproduction in 2014 I believe. I was using a PS5 devkit. The
  149. game entered large scale development sometime around late 2016 during the timeframe Rockstar began marketing Red
  150. Dead Redemption 2. Half the studios went full force on RDR, the other half on GTA6.
  151.
  152. Some background first: RDR2 was a HUGE project for Rockstar and apparently a ton of morale was lost. The game makers
  153. weren't even sure if they were making a game that was fun to play as the studio heads kept pushing everyone to
  154. incorporate all these "state of the art" immersive qualities and attention to detail, especially in the wildlife and visuals
  155. department Overall RDR2 was a daunting project that suck the soul out of just about everyone. However, the Rockstar
  156. guys were pretty adamant about returning to the series and revisiting the "Van Der Linde" legacy they liked to cal it. They
  157. were very fond of the story they had created for Arthur Morgan. It was essentially their soul game. But RDR2 was also
  158. sorta seen as a "test mule" for GTA 6. Even though a ton of passion and blood was put into it, and the producers behind it
  159. were more than confident in it being a critical success just off brand and hype alone, they ultimately knew a "techy" game
  160. had to be made before GTA 6 just to see where the company's footprint was in the next-gen sphere. Rockstar knew GTA 6
  161. wouldn't be feasible on PS4 and Xbox One if they wanted to pull off a generation defining GTA title that pushed the bar;
  162. they also had RDR2 on their hands.
  163.
  164. GTA 5 was also kinda seen as their "mainline" GTA since it originally came out on the PS3 & XB360's deathbed but had a
  165. ton of staying power even today as were approaching the 9th generation. Overhead some mates at the studio joking
  166. about GTA 5 being a 'one-man casino" for Rockstar. The game thatjust "keeps on giving." Anyways, RDRZS engine is sorta
  167. a precursor to GTA 6. You mightve noticed just how amazingly crafted and realistic the volumetric clouds were in RDR2s
  168. skybox despite only ever being able to take in the skies in one mission (the hot air balloon one). This is because GTA 6 Is
  169. reusing/bulilding off the skybox in RDR2 since the game has a heavy emphasis on air travel. Ive flown a millitary jet in the
  170. game (called the Sunsiege) and the world from above is truly a marvel: what Rockstar managed to achieve is
  171. extraordinary and will push the open world genre to unseen limits. It almost felt like a privilege being able to play the
  172. game, even in an unfinished state, before the world is ready to experience it. The game on ground level is still in early
  173. stages and wasn't all that pretty, I can only imagine the final product though. All the main roads and streets were laid out
  174. but not everything was completed or fully detailed, lots of bland geography here and there - the artists still have a lot of
  175. work to touch up.
  176.
  177. But the map is huge, like stupendously huge, hence the game's emphasis on air travel. It makes GTA 5 look like a
  178. schoolyard playground. There are an array of atmospheric effects that bring out the life in everything. Light pollution,
  179. hurricane winds, morning fog, etc. I've never seen an open world game this realistic before.
  180.
  181. Map: The playable game territory encompasses two major cities. Carcer City, which is sorta this dirty East Coast area
  182. based on Boston, MA - and Vice City, based on Miami Florida. Every individual county is named as wel, I cant remember
  183. the names right now ( think Scout County was one) The game is also divided into three states. I spent more time in
  184. Carcer since I found it to be the more interesting city, it is however easy to get lost in since a lot of the roads are so
  185. spirally and don't always follow a classic grid pattern. The satire surrounding some of the historic US landmarks I
  186. discovered got a laugh out of me, Ive encountered some deviant statues in the Charlestown knockoff area. I was told a
  187. historic tour would be a side attraction in the game. I also fast traveled via blue line train hich took me to the airport
  188. area. There Is also an abundance of towns, shanties, waterfronts, suburbs, hideouts and wilderness between the two
  189. cities, and a military base in the Florida region where I stole my jet. I did a couple fly overs but I didn't get to digest the
  190. map in its entirety on foot. If you fly up high enough, you get this atmospheric bloom effect, think Google Earth. The
  191. countryside sorta transitions from Massachusetts-esque farmland and seasides (fishing is a minigame, didn't get to play
  192. it), stretches of red oak forest and freeways treading through fields and towns, to marshy grassland, and eventually a
  193. Swampy Florida countryside not unlike the bayou from RDR2, just way bigger and less misty. Its a very long and gradual
  194. transition between the two cities but its a little awkward traveling from Boston to Miami without any other major Us cities
  195. in between save some small towns. It's still well realized even in an unfinished state. There are also small chunks of
  196. islands based on the Keys (dubbed the "Chain" in GTA 6'S world) connected via a long highway based on the 7 Mile Bridge
  197. i had lots of fun trying to survive a cop chase while crossing the entire bridge, which is really only like 2 miles long in the
  198. actual game). The aesthetic of VCs area is very similar to the bayou and Gaurma from RDRZ (again, think "test mule"). The
  199. water effects are on par with Sea of Thieves, just stunning. There is underwater exploration as well but I didnt spend too
  200. much time below the surface. Overall the map design is the most authentic yet in a Rockstar game. It doesn't feel as
  201. gamey as RDR2 or GTA5 where biomes felt compressed next to each other. They really went all out and it shows. I felt
  202. very overwhelmed exploring such a huge and richly detailed game World, I can't even remember everything. So many
  203. roads and huge spaces, it'll take many long hours to memorize this map without relying on the radar.
  204.
  205. I didn't get to play any minigames or story missions, in fact, I don't even think the character I controlled was the actual
  206. protagonist. He looked like a generic NPC model, no voice overs or lines. Just an avatar to explore the world and test the
  207. game with. That isn't to say the story isn't in the works, it's well into production. I just didn't get to play any of it. I do know
  208. that multiple protagonists are a thing, two of them might be siblingst?). One of them is an undercover cop or something
  209. (think Departed movie). Apparently the groundwork for mission design has been completely revamped. You can
  210. permanently abandon some misslons or take different routes that sprout different consequences. Each protagonist can
  211. manufacture their own story beats, but in the end the overall storyline will stay intact so it's still somewhatlinear. Missions
  212. are mostly setpiece based from what Ive been told. Again, I didn't actually get to play any story missions but a fellow
  213. tester gave me a basic outline of lit
  214.
  215. Lots of newly modeled cars too, I did spot a couple OGs like the Sabre GT. The game sorta has this reboot aesthetic if that
  216. makes sense. A lot of samey qualities that make up a GTA game, but more detailed than ever. I saw a newer looking
  217. Lamborghini on Ocean Side that I could tell was supposed to be an infernus, even though it was a different model than
  218. the one featured in GTA 4 and 5. I didn't see any returning vehicles from the GTA Online expansions, like I said all the core
  219. vehicle designs seem to be rebooted with the exception of a few vintage cars like the Sabre. Gunplay felt somewhat
  220. unfinished when I played it, almost identical to GTA 5S witha clunky cover system. Ive been told it's gonna get retooled
  221. eventually. Running and climbing animations also aren't 100% complete yet, sorta these placeholder animations
  222. borrowed from either GTA 5 or RDR2. Driving also feels like GTA 5 in the state 1 played it. Everything gameplay wise was
  223. placeholdery. Ive been told the map is the priority right now and the gameplay mechanics are stll in the process of being9
  224. refactored to provide a "more immersive experience." Although I was told first person will be included, it wasn't ready or
  225. available in the versionI played. No radio stations either when I played, or ambient tracks. My biggest takeaway was the
  226. open world. It is insane, I can't understate it enough. The game is absolutely titanic. I can only imagine it in its finished
  227. state. Im not sure what Rockstar's ultimate vision is with this game. Mechanically its still very GTA, but it is a technological
  228. beast. A splendor of modern game design and a Hollywood budget. I don't even wanna know how much money they
  229. poured into it.
  230.
  231. HUD: basic circular radar like in RDR2 and GTA 4, seemed very beta-ish. Generic stock text fonts for vehicle names and
  232. ammo count, seems like they havern't picked a font yet. Weapon wheel is back with generic black&white placeholder
  233. images for the weapons I was able to use (AK47, Pump shotgun, a glock, baseball bat, to name a few).
  234.
  235. Police: very robust and tactical Al. Apparently the devs are pushing this new Al trick called "Paired Ar" where teams of
  236. adversaries like NOOSE agents or cops can split into teams of two to flank the player. They programmed some sort of
  237. buddy-trust system for cops to communicate realistically and feel more like a team. Something they alimed for but
  238. couldn't quite achieve in GTA 5. Didn't really notice it any of the policies shootouts I had. what I did notice was a team of
  239. NOOSE guys cover-walking side by side with a slowly rolling swat van. Felt straight out of a Hollywood movie. NOoSE can
  240. also use riot shields and tear gas via grenade launcher. Police will sometimes open the trunk of their cruiser to pull out an
  241. AR or shotgun. Lots of realistic touches like that. 6 stars is also back, then the miltary spawns in. It takes a while for them
  242. to arrive, to give the player some prep time, they actually travel from the military base in real time to confront the player.
  243. They are very challenging once they start using jets. You can also disarm police with certain melee prompts.
  244.
  245. Final impressions: really feels like Rockstar's ultimate game, a game so big and realistic they could retire in peace and
  246. never have to make another GTA. Ijust don't see how they can top this, they really went all out on the open world. I can't
  247. wait to see it in its final form when all the detail, polish and mechanics are complete. The wait is worth it.
  248.
  249. TL'DR: I QA tested the gameplay mechanics and exploration in early stages of GTA 6.I saw and did a lot of things. The
  250. map is huge.
  251.
  252. Anyway, thats all Til share for now. Not sure if anyone will even catch this. Im using a throwaway for obvious reasons. Just
  253. thought a leak would be fun to sate the fans a bit. I am confident I won't get caught, so Im not worried too much about
  254. that part. This will probably get removed, unless Rockstar wants to be coy and ignore this massive leak. I will answer as
  255. many comments as I can. Ask anything you want. Cheers!

  260. [Rhanadeng 4chan.org/v/ - April 2020]
  261.
  262. I was a friend of one employee who was disgruntled during 2019, and wanted me to anonymously leak info about GTA 6 but things improved later and lost contact with the guy
  263.
  264. To keep this within text limit, i will keep this short.
  265.
  266. The game was worked on in full active development since 2016 or 2017, but pre production began shortly after porting GTA V to current gen consoles in 2014
  267.
  268. The map is set to be the size of GTA V & RDR2 combined
  269.
  270. There is a pissing minigame where you control your dick using your controller motion controls.
  271.
  272. There are 4 protagonists in the game, Walther Wallace, a driver, then an Israeli former IDF guy(don't know his name), Thomas Branigan who has a smuggling plane called the raven, and the fourth guy was Marcus Burke, other than him being a single father of a son, he deals in drugs
  273.
  274. The area is based on Florida, but Vice City isn't the only major city in the area
  275.
  276. Part of the game is set in the 1980s, but time skips to present day
  277.
  278. Mission design isn't as linear as it was in RDR2 and GTAV (this goes for most missions)
  279.
  280. It's about the drug trade and you very briefly visit a small island in central america but its not Guarma
  281.
  282. The story is in the middle between GTA IV Dark and GTA V Bright, and you start playing as Branigan.
  283.
  284. The Map follows a design similar to that of GTA San Andreas's map, 3 major cities and 1 smaller city to the far northwest of the map, but the terrain is way different from past entries
  285.
  286. There are multiple child characters in the game, they mainly interact with Burke and his adolescent son (I wasn't told more details but probably just his friends)
  287.
  288. The game retains the cores from RDR2 and they function much in the same way as they did in RDR2, except that the fortifying items are changed to resemble drugs.
  289.
  290. Character switching isn't instant, but its (apparently) more entertaining than it was last time(instead of the game zoming out, the camera just travels quickly to where your desired protagonist is)
  291.
  292. There is improved parkour in the game, inspired by Sleeping dogs but it isn't as extensive as in there or other games(Can't wall run for example)
  293.
  294. Weapons function more realistically in gameplay than they did in GTA V, rocket backblast is 1 hit kill and can cause you to accidentally kill side characters and alter mission outcomes(In one mission you are supposed to destroy a helicopter but instead of using a rocket you can use a sniper, if a rocket is used a side NPC will get backblasted but the mission won't fail)
  295.
  296. Hand to hand combat is retained from RDR2 except its harder to fight using hand to hand in GTA 6 than in GTA V
  297.
  298. Character specific powers are back but they only implemented 1 power for Walther Wallace, and its just franklin's ability.
  299.
  300. Mori Kibbutz is in the game, and that's all i know about it.
  301.
  302. You can gain weight, and it affects the same attributes as they did in RDR2, except also what kind of body armor you can use.
  303.
  304. All this info was acquired throughout 2019, i have no knowledge of trailers, but i do know that the game is definitely not in early development, also TezFunz2 comments seem more accurate than ever.

  307. [No.509241690 4chan.org/v/ - May 2020]
  308.
  309. Continuing 3 main protags. Rockstar felt like going back to 1 main protag would cause discontent with fans
  310.
  311. Vice City returns. Overall map size will be smaller with much less countryside found in V, but a bigger emphasis on making the city feel alive. There will be everglades/swampy areas surrounding the city, as well as beaches, and you'll be able to travel to a nearby vacation island like the Bahamas.
  312.
  313. Two different time periods. The big feature for this game will be how it takes place in two different periods of time.
  314.
  315. The timelines are: 1980s and modern day
  316.
  317. Rockstar obviously knows fans want to revisit Vice City, but are afraid to do a game with a setting entirely in the 80s because it might be off putting for modern fans and it could hurt GTA Online, so they've chosen to implement both the 80s and modern time into the game. This is also why the overall map is going to be smaller, because the two different time periods will have some drastic differences.
  318.
  319. 1 of the protags takes place in the 80s, the other 2 are in modern times.
  320.
  321. 80s protag will be typical cuban immigrant, Scarface-esque story. You come from nothing and start to build your drug empire
  322.
  323. Modern protags will be token black guy and a white-hispanic dude. Black guy is an ex-college athlete who got injured and ruined his chances of going pro, hangs out with the wrong crowd and gets mixed up in some shit where things go too far. The white-hispanic dude is a childhood friend of his, was always a fuck up and got involved in crime at an early age. He and the black guy basically haven't seen each in years and when they meet up and hang out again the white-hispanic guy convinces him to help out with something that ends up being a drug deal gone wrong.
  324.
  325. You will NOT be able to play the 1980s protag in modern times. At that point he is basically a drug kingpin and old man. Instead, both protags end up working for him.
  326.
  327. Rockstar spent a lot of time debating on whether or not to make one of the protags a female, but couldn't fit it into the narrative. Ultimately they felt it was more important to focus on the cuban/hispanic culture of the area, and accomplished that by using a Cuban refugee's rise to power and a white/hispanic that speaks Spanish (which is very common in Miami), and of course a token black guy to make everyone happy.
  328.
  329. Story events that happen in the 80s timeline carry over to modern times. For instance, an NPC you encounter during a mission in modern times is missing some fingers, later you find out during a mission the 80s timeline that the Cuban protag cuts his fingers off in a story mission. Also, at one point in the story you buy a club in the 80s and in modern times you go to the club with the other 2 protags and start some trouble, ending up with a character saying "Do you know who owns this club?" Alluding to the fact that the Cuban protag still owns it and is a powerful and dangerous person. Unfortunately there are no player choices in these events, they are all just scripted little nods to the 80s timeline.
  330.
  331. The bullet time and slow-mo driving abilities are being carried over from V, but all characters can utilize them. However, they will be tuned down and you won't be able to spam them so they're not as overpowered.
  332.
  333. Much MUCH more customization options. (definitely to maximize profits for GTA:O) Clothes, tattoos, hairstyles, car mods, even customizing the interior and exterior of buildings you own. Believe me when I say they added an overwhelming amount of customization. Body customization similar to San Adreas also in-game (although somewhat limited on body). Black athletic protag can't get skinny, for instance, but there is a range of how bulky you can get him and he's the only protag you can make really fat (kinda like a fat washed up athlete look)
  334.
  335. Gun attachments also in game, being able to customize weapons with scopes, silencers, extended mags, etc. Also different paint schemes.
