  1. Ash-Greninja is the cornerstone of the team, able to break most types in the metagame with its Choice Specs attacks after Battle Bond as only few teams carry answers to it. Dark Pulse and Surf are its main STAB attacking options, with Water Shuriken as priority that becomes more reliable after Battle Bond. Ice Beam is additional coverage to hit Grass-type Pokemon that resist Surf like Cradily and Decidueye. Hydro Pump can be used instead of Surf, but Greninja's frailty means missing one can lead to its death. Choice Specs is used to further its wallbreaking capabilities. A Timid nature is used to make the most out of its impressive speed tier, able to outspeed Pokemon like Mega Salamence before Battle Bond and Tapu Koko after.
  2.
  3. Krookodile is the lead of the team, ideally setting up hazards while preventing the enemy team from setting up their own. Earthquake and Knock Off give Krookodile valuable STAB options to deal heavy damage to whatever is in front of it. Taunt is necessary to prevent opposing Pokemon from setting up their own hazards at the start of the game, as well as stopping Pokemon from setting up in front of Krookodile. Stealth Rock helps the rest of the team by wearing down the opposing team, punishing their switches, and in some cases breaking Focus Sash and Sturdy. Focus Sash allows Krookodile to use Taunt and set Stealth Rock reliably even against Pokemon that could otherwise kill it. Intimidate gives Krookodile additional utility, weakening the opposing lead and possibly becoming useful later in the game if Krookodile is saved as a sack.
  4.
  5. Hydreigon is the speed control of the team, able to revenge kill, pivot with U-Turn, and even clean weakened teams later in the game. Dark Pulse and Draco Meteor are its STAB options; the former is very spammable, and can sometimes break through walls that it 3HKOs due to its flinch chance, while the latter is very powerful and hard to switch into. Fire Blast is used as additional coverage to hit Pokemon like Klefki and Ferrothorn that otherwise take little damage from its other moves. U-Turn lets Hydreigon pivot out of Pokemon that could answer it like Chansey, and helps allies like Greninja switch in safely. Max Speed EVs with a Choice Scarf and a Timid nature is necessary to function as speed control.
  6.
  7. Bisharp is a secondary wallbreaker, revenge killer, and occasionally sweeper. Knock Off and Iron Head are its strongest attacking moves, with Knock Off having additional utility even against Pokemon that resist it (such as removing Leftovers from walls), and Iron Head hitting Fairy-types that resist the team's Dark-type moves super effectively. Sucker Punch allows Bisharp to revenge kill frail or weakened Pokemon, clean weakened teams, and even take out offensive Pokemon at full health after a Swords Dance. Swords Dance allows it to set up so that it can break through walls easier and pose a threat to faster Pokemon with a stronger Sucker Punch. Defiant gives it the same Attack boost if it switches into Defog, if the opponent sets up Sticky Web, if an Intimidate Pokemon switches in, and the like. Life Orb boosts the power of all of Bisharp's attacks, and additionally gives its Sucker Punch immediate power for aid in revenge killing without a Swords Dance boost.

  9. Tyranitar is a setup sweeper able to easily clean weakened teams after a few boosts, its great natural bulk combined with Sand Stream often giving it good opportunities to Dragon Dance. Stone Edge is its strongest STAB move and does heavy damage. Earthquake is a coverage option to hit Steel-type Pokemon that resist Stone Edge, and hits other key Pokemon like Toxapex and Golem-Alola super effectively. Fire Punch is additional coverage to hit other Steel-type Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Scizor who are not weak to Earthquake. Dragon Dance allows it to boost its Attack and Speed. Sand Stream boosts Tyranitar's Special Defense and wears down foes for five turns. Rockium-Z alongside Stone Edge gives Tyranitar a one-time nuke to break through walls it otherwise might struggle against. Full Speed investment helps Tyranitar outspeed Pokemon like Choice Scarf Magnezone and Mega Diancie after just one Dragon Dance.

  11. Muk-Alola is the last Pokemon of the team, most useful in the Fairy matchup where it can switch into strong Moonblasts thanks to its typing and recovery in Recycle, and threaten to win with Curse. Its typing also makes it neutral to Fighting-type attacks the rest of the team is weak to, allowing it to live hits from Pokemon like Mega Gallade and wear them down with Poison Jab or Knock Off so that Greninja or Hydreigon can revenge kill them easier. Knock Off and Poison Jab are its STAB moves, Poison Jab hitting the Fairy-type Pokemon that resist Knock Off. Curse allows it to set up and boost its Attack and Defense, becoming a threat against teams later in the game and helping it answer physical attackers. Recycle alongside Iapapa Berry grants Muk-Alola reliable recovery, though it also makes Muk-Alola very vulnerable to Knock Off (as Recycle cannot recycle items that were removed by Knock Off). Gluttony is used so that Muk-Alola eats its Iapapa Berry earlier. Special Defense investment helps it answer Fairy-type Pokemon best, with 12 Defense EVs to survive Choice Scarf Victini's V-Create after Stealth Rock damage.
