  1. I usually get a lot of surprised reactions when I say Gen 6 is my favorite generation of Pokemon games. A lot of people will point out the lack of post game content, or how it was too easy, or they didn't like the region or new Pokemon, or whatever other reason. There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and this one is my own.
  2.
  3. The launch week of Pokemon X/Y was the most enjoyable experience I've ever had with a Pokemon game. I didn't know much new info going into it and the fact it was a global release helped that a lot. It's hard for me to put it all into words so I'm going to list off the top of my head things I enjoyed on this week.
  4.
  5. - Roller skates and Pokeballs were available almost immediately
  6. - Lots of Pokemon available on every route, especially in the early game
  7. - I like catching everything I see and gaining experience for catches was a nice bonus
  8. - This was the first game I can remember where I ran out of money because I couldn't catch everything on the early routes, I was speechless and wondered what other things I haven't found yet
  9. - Breeding and other late game stuff was made a lot more accessible and future gens will continue this trend
  10. - THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD I LOVE IT
  11. - Full 3D models, finally
  12. - Customizing your character looks
  13. - Inkay evolves like THAT? No the internet must be bullshitting me. Why are more people claiming this OMG IT WORKS THIS WAY WTF
  14. - The Exp. Share allowed me to more easily change my team around without having to waste time grinding
  15.
  16. Far too much in earlier Pokemon games I felt like I was shoehorned into the team I was building. If you decided you didn't like a Pokemon for one reason or another you'd have to grind to catch up and I don't like that. X/Y gave me the freedom to experiment with my team and I feel the game was better for it. Some people will say the Exp. Share makes the game easier and it does, but my game knowledge is also much greater than when I first played Red and Gold back in the day so the games are easier because of that too. The best part about it is if you can turn off the Exp. Share if you want. You can create the experience you want and that's really important.
  17.
  18. - The online functionality was vastly improved
  19.
  20. This is probably the most important thing to me and future playthroughs will not be able to replicate that first week. You are able to trade and battle everywhere. You can help others with O-Powers. The passerby feature was also a great touch with this. It made the game world feel a lot more connected to the real world. And holy shit the Wonder Trade was an amazing addition and addicting as hell. I may have gotten a full box of Japanese Pikachus on that first week but that one time you got something decent for your route 1 trash made you feel like a dick (or amazing depending on the kind of person you are). I spent a ton of money on pokeballs to catch things just to Wonder Trade away. All the things I mentioned before made this game great but the online functionality pushed it beyond great for me.

  22.
  23. People can debate about things in the single player they liked or didn't like and how it stacks up compared to the other games. I'll let them. Nothing's taking away that first week from me. Every generation has improved the series for the better and I patiently await to see what Sun and Moon have in store.
