  1. "I'm ready."
  2.
  3. The man would be preparing for that of the raid that was coming. And in all honesty, he had trained harder for this than anything else. Every second that he got that wasn't with the militia or with Lt. Vos? He was training.
  4.
  5. Because of that fight with Zexelis… a fight that made him look so bad infront of such big powers of Briar. He couldn't let that happen again. So this time? He'd be ready, he was sure of it.
  6.
  7. Well---
  8.
  9. Sorta.
  10.
  11. Sure he trained his damn heart out with his combat. But he always felt there was that level he just wasn't going to reach without proper training. Which is why he had gained a interest in that of Laemor.
  12.
  13. Well aware spatial was just outside of his realm of thought or practice-- it was Ifrit's claw... this is what he blamed the reason fo why Laemor was so powerful, the strongest swordsman in all the lands.
  14.
  15. And he was a general. He had to know what hewas doing. Kuja looked at the man almost like he was a god. Because he was living a gods life. Known for his strength, cunnin, speed.
  16.
  17. And Ifrit. Sure there was spatial, but Kuja wasn't there, nor did he have the patience to be. Kuja, like Laemor, was a wind and fire user. So it only made sense that he would follow in the steps of the man. Infatc, Kuja had bene trying for -eons- to use the ifrit claw. After seeing Laemor spar so many times and fight so off and on, he had become very -aware- of the skill.
  18.
  19. But when Kuja tried? Pfft, he was barely able to make anything happen. Really just this bubble of fire and wind pretty much.
  20.
  21. But it was all okay, after this raid Kuja would finally take that first step to getting official training From Laemor to finally learn Ifrit's claw.
  22.
  23. It was just another raid, he thought to himself.
  24.
  25. Everything will be fine.
  26.
  27. Just fine...
  28.
  29.
  30. His last training session before heading out to the Raid-- he actually wanted to surprise Laemor with arriving on the field with Ifrit's form fully crafted and developed.
  31.
  32. But he was -miles- away from that. His training really-- had not much knowledge about what Ifrit was, beside fire and wind. And his attempts at such would leave him scratching his head at-- what he had made. Him aware that Ifrit was suppoouse to be some kind of Gauntlet-- but all Kuja made was this whirlind type of ordeal around his arm.
  33.
  34. In all honesty he didn't have that -drive- to really learn it or use ifrit form. He depended everything ont he training that would happen after the Raid that it would happen, still hopeful it would.
  35.
  36. He read books sure here and there. Reading about how some magi just -came- across some magic by accident when their emotions got the best of him. But he-- didn't think that was real. How could someone get stronger through emotions? What drive did that have behind something?
  37.
  38. Scoffing at the idea of what those books had to offer him. Maybe to even tell Laemor about the joke when they got back from the raid stomping out Gehenna.
  39.
  40. A mental note of this.
  41.
  42.
  43. And Kuja wasn't some amateur. He was the officer of Briar. A status that was only gained for his dedication and level of skill that towered over the lower ranks. It measnt something ot be who he was.
  44.
  45. But when it came to beyond basic knowledge of magic? Or not swinging a sword? He just wasn't there with that knowledge. Jealous of Laemor as he had been in so many fights, witnessed and seen Ifrit form used -on- them, according to what he was told. And yet Kuja? He hadn't seen any other Ifrit user or to fight against, not foolish enough to fight General Laemor.
  46.
  47. He was really stuck at this point where he leaned all his progress on this one figure. While his brothers were advancing so quickly, Sia, Kia. Kott-- a side thought about him before heading to the raid..
  48.
  49. Was Kott going ot join the fight against Gehenna? Aware of some rumors and such, he hoped them not to be true , afterall, Kot was developing into a -beast- on the field. Maybe could even get some pointers about fighting or hey-- even meditatintg for Kott.
  50.
  51. A look of confidence as he felt after this raid? He'd start using resources of his to truly take it to that next level.
  52.
  53. Just had to go wipe the floor with Gehenna then start his easy climb.
