I live in a small town located in the center of our country Macedonia called Negotino.
With its approximately 20,000 population Negotino is situated on the right bank of the river Vardar. Our town has an interesting and exciting history. There was a time between 278 and 242 BC, where a city was founded by King Antigonus, under the name Antigoneia. After conquering Paionia, he conquered the settlements around the region of central Vardar.

Antigoneia was located some twelve Roman miles south of the ancient city of Stobi, on the road to Thessaloniki, at the location of modern Gradiste, near the railway station of Negotino. At this place, Roman coins were found, as well as precious jewelry and other archeological findings from the period of the Roman and Byzantine period.

The ancient city existed until the 11th century when it was destroyed by a disastrous earthquake which hit almost all of the territory of Macedonia along with other cities such as Skupi, Stobi, Heraclea, Astibo, and Idomena. From 1929 to 1941, Negotino was part of the Vardar Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. One of the historical things famous in our city is the so-called "Clock Tower", built in 1821 during the Otoman empire. Negotino gets its biggest achievement in the second half of the 20th century where it grows in a modern town with a developed infrastructure.

As of today, we celebrate November 8th as the day where our Municipality was freed from the Nazis occupation back in 1944. Besides that, there is also the infamous funfair which it takes place every year and lasts for full three days, starting from September 21st. The funfair is made of different mini-stores, places where you can buy all kinds of clothes, toys, tools, etc. A theme park, a place to get your adrenaline up! Filled with Mini-cars, a point counting boxing bag, mini-football, a small-sized rollercoaster made specifically for children, a gambling roulette, a big boat going up and down in the air making your adrenaline go crazy, etc. The whole funfair  is  a great way to spend your time until you get all grown up.

Another interesting thing to do during holidays is of course, watching our town's football team perform! Since the team qualified for the tier 2 national league, people attend every Sunday in order to cheer and watch the game. Besides football, the handball junior team is very well followed by the youngsters, cheering their way of progressing even further. However, not everyone can play professionally and that is why we have a big sports center located at the end of the town. During the summer, every living person is able to go and play different sport like tennis, basketball, handball, football, futsal, etc. We also have a big public swimming pool/night club named "Havana", available for everyone! Nevertheless, lets not forget about the towns education facilites. Negotino has two Elementary schools, one named "Goce Delcev", and the other named "Strasho Pindzur" also a high school, named "Sv. Kiril i Metodij".

Nowadays, one of the newest projects realised in our town is the freshly made fountain located in the center of our towns square. During its construction, the way it functioned made the citizens who passed-by distracted and excited by the fountain. There was not a single person, who passed it by and not stay to admire it for a few minutes. Understandingly, the most cheerful were the little children, who along with their parents, cousins and friends curiously follow the functioning of the fountain and its accompanied elements, among which dominate, the lightning devices surrounding the water cannons. The towns mayor claims that this fountain is an attaction and a mark in the city, also adding that the water spent for its functionality  costs minimal per month. Parallel to creating the fountain, the Municipality of Negotino continues with realising and fulfilling new projects in making the water supplies even better.

Getting everything summed up, Negotino is a peaceful and a great city to live in, filled with kind people , all kinds of fun places to go and different things to do.
