  1. >"B-but why on Equestria is she ...like that?"
  2. >You shrug.
  3. "Hey, don't ask present me. That was PAST me's fault. I think she's kinda cute."
  4. >"I'm going to have a word with past you in the future...and past you became future you in the present! Now tell me WHY EXACTLY YOU WOULD DO SUCH A THING TO MY SISTER!"
  5. >You shrug.
  6. "I really don't know, Rarity. Apparently, according to one of my more ominous research notes it has to do with Sweetie Belle never being hurt again."
  7. >Rarity rubs at her muzzle with a hoof.
  8. >She opens her mouth to speak, but closes it shut.
  9. >"I will simply assume that whatever you did had a good reason, but it needs to be UNDONE. Fix it, fix my sister right now, Anonymous. I don't care how long it takes, just...make her normal again, please."
  10. >"Hey guYS!"
  11. >You and Rarity turn to Sweetie Belle's voice...coming not from 2 feet off the ground, but at...
  12. >Your eyes widen.
  13. >"Sweeite Belle...you're a-"
  14. "Human."
  15. >"I knOw! Look at me!"
  16. >Oh hey look, not naked.
  17. "We are."
  18. >Rarity nods, then begins swaying.
  19. >You got this.
  20. >You catch her as she falls to one side, legitimately passed out instead of dramatically.
  21. >You've learned the difference. She'll pull out her Chaise Lounge or whatever if she's messing around.
  22. >Picking the mare up you lay her on the couch.
  23. >"Sooo...what's going on?"
  24. >Oh NOW the little quirt asks questions.
  25. "Well Sweetie, as far as I can see when I brought you back, I made...some modifications and enhancements."
  26. >"Like whAT? I never asked for this!"
  27. "Well, sleep, eating functions, and apparently transformations. It's almost like a superhero's cache of spells and superpowers. Not exactly extraordinary, but spell-like natural superpowers nonetheless."
  28. >Her eyes widen and her smile overtakes the pseudo-humanoid face.
  29. >"That's soo cOOl!"
  30. "Uhh, I don't like that look on your face, Sweetie. You're still young, and I don't think Rarity would like you going gallivanting about, galloping into great danger, green eyes glowing."
  31. >"My eyes glow?"
  32. >And that's all she got out of that. Nice.
  33. >It is your turn to rub the bridge of your nose.
  34. "Sweetie Belle...you DO know fighting is bad, right?"
  35. >"Yeah...but I could be a cREAture catcher! And fight dangerous creatures of the Everfree forest, saving P0nyville from all SORTs of things!"
  36. >At around this time, pulses of visible magic begin to radiate from her and she shrinks back down into a filly.
  37. >"Aww..."
  38. >Phew.
  39. "Okay, Sweetie Belle, let's get to figuring out all the stuff in you so that the accident at school doesn't happen again...not that I think those two are dumb enough to attack somepony who can become a giant again, but hey: better safe than sorry."
  40. >You lean down and lift the filly once more, then take a seat next to the still-unconscious Rarity and calm yourself, steadying your breathing in preparation.
  41. >You feel your own consciousness slip as you delve into the machinations of little Sweetie Belle, tapping into a meditative state of your own to stabilize your work.
  42. >This is...odd.
  43. >Nothing too complex.
  44. >Well, nothing out of the ordinary in complexity, aside from an obvious change from physical synapses to a flowing magic system on a cellular level.
  45. >It sounds like big news stuff, but magic has always flowed on a cellular level, just now it was being used to store memory and rationality.
  46. "Alright...let's see here."
  47. >Searching through, you do not, in fact, discover any sort of directory or sourcepoint.
  48. "Well, this is going to be difficult, now isn't it?"
  49. >Instead, you locate the trigger for sleep first.
  50. "One down and...hmm..."
  51. >There is a trigger for growth and one more for change of a racial variety.
  52. >Looking along the synapses, you find common points among them, linking the spells growth and change.
  53. "Of course...the schools of magic are separated!"
  54. >Polymorph and enlarge being were spells you remember seeing in your spellbook, both sharing the school of Transmutation.
  55. >Just as sleep was an Enchantment, and had its own ties to the school of the same name.
  56. >Now to see where else this Transmutation core lead...
  57. >To your surprise, you found just about every spell in your book under the transmutation school.
  58. "...well, shit."
  59. >The same fell true to the enchantment school.
  60. >Thankfully, as you checked each individual synapse, you did not find evocation or necromancy.
  61. >Or divine, but you weren't a divine caster, so how would you manage that anyway?
  62. >Doesn't matter, made life.
  63. >Thankfully, among some of the more harmful spells, you found that they needed a direct trigger, much like sleep, or were only activated on Sweetie Belle, and not cast out at others.
  64. >The concept, however, that with her unicorn magic she could learn any of these spells was worrisome.
  65. "Someone ought to put a warning on some spells: keep out of minds of children."
  66. >Really, though, what the HELL were you thinking, adding many of these to her repertoire? Weren't you earlier consumed with worry that Twilight might learn and cast many of these, or even write them down?
  67. "I guess that someone will have to be me."
  68. >Many spells, you thought were too dangerous to be used properly.
  69. >They were to be locked until such a time that you could teach her to control them.
  70. >Mind Alteration spells you locked right away.
  71. >She was already cute enough to get her way, no need to add magic in that mix.
  72. >Simple things like magical flight, or cantrips you let be.
  73. >Invisibility though, no.
  74.
  75. >Once you locked the last spell you deemed dangerous (gust of wind) away, you pull yourself from the trance.
  76. >This wakes Sweetie, who yawns and stretches in your lap.
  77. >Which dominoes into Rarity, waking her from her fainting spell.
  78. >"Oh...Anonymous? I had the strangest dream..."
  79. "Were there technicolor pachyderms?"
  80. >"No, just...Sweetie Belle as a ...human."
  81. >"Oh, no, I can rEAlly do that!"
  82. >She blinks a few times.
  83. >"Anonymous?"
  84. "Yes, milady?"
  85. >"I think I am going to sleep again."
  86. "Of course you are."
  87. >She faints.
