- Hi everyone. I want to present an idea here to showcase speedrunners that play all the games in their series. Let's push beyond one game at a time and start playing the whole thing, but at the same time, without the usual drain that comes with tournaments that last for months (especially with 3+ hours categories)
- I give you, The Multigame Madness Series Showdown
- The basic idea is to have about one week of official races, maybe throw in the extra Saturday before hand as a big community race. The category would be something like Mario 1,2us,2j, 3, world "all Warpless", or Mega Man 1-6, or Zelda 1,2,3 There are too many other series to list here but rest assured I'm thinking of them too.
- Final placing would be by the average of the top 2 times from each player, so your one bad race wouldn't count, and your fluke PB would need support. Top 4 would race in the Series Showdown the next Saturday. (Going more than 2 times could work one day, but for now 2 races keeps the time commitment lower.)
- Obviously this is a new idea, so it's still flexible. The Showdown could be immediately in the second Sunday if there's no interest in one more weekend day to get a time. If there isn't enough interest, this could just be one big race. Race times would be figured out so all regions can participate. I would be interested in recognizing the top individual game times to draw more interest (maybe a showcase relay before the big race?)
- There's a lot of talent out there, and I think it's good to get outside the box of running just your one game. So let's have some fun and play a lot of video games!
- I'll be posting a Google Form soon too gauge interest. Besides signups, I'm interested in what series people would to be in an event like this.
- I think Classic 2D Mario is a good starting point. I think the last week in January is a good time for a one week event This would be an all 5 Warpless race, Warpless/All Castles. All Stars allowed (mostly because Lost Levels accessibility).
- Please fill out the form and let us know what you think!
