  1. “So, you gotta be fixed up by the end of the month is basically what you are telling me?” Mike said, holding a slice of pizza.
  2. “Yeah,” Bonnie said, “problem is I do not know where to get the parts. The manufacture who made me exoskeleton is long out of business since the bankruptcy of Fredbear Entertainment.”
  3. Bonnie took a deep swig of beer. “We could go by the facility.” She continued. “Who knows? They might at least have the parts we need to build it lying around.”
  4. Mike stared at the combo pizza in front of him. He looked up at Bonnie who was watching someone put quarter after quarter into a claw machine game and coming up empty. “You know,” he started, “there is another place where we can find your parts.”
  5. Bonnie turned her faceless head to him. “Pfft, yeah like that would go well.” She said. “I haven’t talked to them in a year and you expect me to walk right in unannounced? They would probably stuff me into a suit just for hanging out with you.”
  6. Mike stirred his soda with his straw. The whirring sound of soda and ice clinking against glass mixed in with the sounds of a busy restaurant around them. “Why don’t they leave?” He asked.
  7. Bonnie shrugged, dropping a slice into her throat pipe. “There’s something about that place that ties us down.” She said. “You wouldn’t believe the amount of willpower it took for me to leave. Even if I go back, I don’t know if I can get out again.”
  8. Mike dropped the straw in the cup. “What if I went?” he asked.
  9. “As fucking if,” Bonnie said. “Without nightmode on, those guys would ram a skeleton up your ass before you could even walk down the hall.”
  10. “The police?” Mike asked.
  11. Bonnie waved her hand. “The place is already condemned and the place is boarded up. With the courts still figuring out what the hell to do about sentient robots, no cop is going to go in there. You would have to pay some mercenary a shit-ton of money to open those doors.”
  12. Bonnie downed the rest of her beer. She snapped her fingers at a waitress and pointed to the mug. Mike tapped the side of his plate. He watched as the waitress take Bonnie’s mug to the bar and fill it with a frosty lager. “This might be a longshot,” Mike said, “but I think I know someone who might be willing to help us out. Remember Fritz?”
  13. Bonnie thought for a bit. “You mean the guy who worked a day at the previous restaurant?”
  14. “Yes him.’
  15. “Yeah I remember him.“ Bonnie said. “Guy was incredibly crafty. He messed with the settings before his shift which is something you should have thought of.”
  16. Mike ignored the quick jab at him. “Yeah I think I know where he lives. From what I hear he went a little nuts after finding out about you leaving the place but he knows how you guys work. Maybe he can tell us a way to sneak in.”
  17. Bonnie slouched in her chair. “You really want to do this, huh?” She asked.
  18. “Bonnie,” Mike said. “I think this could be helpful for you.”
  19. Bonnie folded her arms. “Helpful, huh? Why are you being so helpful? I tried to kill you multiple times yet you let me crash at your place and helped me get a job. No sane person would ever do that.”
  20. Mike was taken back. He didn’t even think about that. When she first appeared at his door, he was shocked to see her standing there with many parts of her body missing. He didn’t even remember moving back to let her in. All he could remember is being stunned with fear of one of his attempted murderers walking into his house. He didn’t even register his emotions when she slumped on his couch. Even as he watched her for 4 hours sleep on his sofa, he didn’t feel nothing nor did he attempt to do anything. It wasn’t until woke up from sleep exhaustion did, he realize the robot that tried to kill him a couple years ago was in his kitchen eating his leftover Chinese food and drinking his beer and there was nothing he could do about it. For the first week he would arrive home late and hope she would be gone but each night he would come home to her drinking and watching Netflix. The only interaction between the two was small talk which evolved to chatting as the months went on. He never sat down and reflect on why he let her stay in his apartment.
  21. He couldn’t come up with anything so they both sat there until the waitress brought Bonnie her beer. “Fuck it.” Bonnie said. “We’ll go over there.”
  22. She grabbed her beer with her good hand. “Let me have a couple of these before we take off.”
  23. Mike sat watching her drink while thinking about why he let her into his life as a roommate.
