Tazlee asks, "Wait! Did you ever talk about the star-y stuff?"


Dmex asks, "Oh, did I?"

Tazlee exclaims, "You both!"

Dmex says, "I know I described it to Zolin, but-"

Caprise says, "Oooh, tell me too."

Dmex says, "Not too much of a crowd about, so..."
Dmex seats herself on the stonework road of the temple square, the air around her brimming with Cosmic energy.

Fitting, of course, for what she's about to describe!

"Right, so. Back when I died, right?"

Always a great way to begin a story.

"I've got a pretty good idea for why I... didn't actually die. Or did, but it didn't stick. Complicated."

Caprise tilted back against the wall to straighten out, staring towards her with something between confusion and curiosity.

That's about the expression she'd expected, anyhow. Dmex pushes herself a pace forward, smiling!

Storytime.

"This took a lot of detective work to figure out. And the help of Mallory, before she decided she hated me."

The last point is waved away, wisps of starlight trailing behind the motion.

"It seems that - during the battle for my life - I'd taken in enough Cosmic energy that, when I actually... lost consciousness and began to bleed out?"

Somehow, she delivers this with a blunt enough tone. Probably from the sheer number of times she's been over it, now.

"It was able to 'take over' for me and crawl to the Hand, piloting my body on reflex."

Adsila Coaxoch asks, "Do you have goods to sell!?"

Adsila Coaxoch exclaims, "Sell them here!"
It was a strange thing to hear--the idea that her star, or whatever it was, could possess her like that for the sake of survival. But one that brought a smile to his lips nonetheless, intrigued eyes looking Dmex up and down, as if they could learn something.

"Neat... That's never happened to me before. I have to consciously call upon my power or it won't come."

A nod comes sharply in response, a genuine smile on Dmex's face. It's so great to have someone of the same art to compare against.

Who isn't either impossibly stupid or impossibly busy.

"Mine always has been less conscious, more reflexive - which might be why it was even possible for me."

Yet another nod follows, as if she needs to confirm the idea to herself.

Dmex says, "...I sincerely hope that I don't have to repeat exactly those previous conditions to have it happen again."
Dmex says, "I like these new eyes, and I like not-dying of Nightshade poisoning."
Caprise says, "It may come about naturally, as long as the adrenaline is there. Mm. Hard for me to say..."
Tazlee says, "Not dying is a pretty good idea, uh-huh."
Dmex asks, "...Maybe it'd work if I was convinced I was dying, even if I wasn't?"
Caprise says, "That's a good idea, if a little... sadistic. An illusion..."
Dmex says, "I'm good at those, too, but probably not good enough at self-deception for it to work."
Caprise says, "No illusions here I'm afraid."
Tazlee exclaims, "Nor here!"
Tazlee asks, "Maybe heavy hallucinations from poison?"
Caprise says, "That sounds like a really, really bad idea..."
Dmex says, "I can't say I thought of 'just get incredibly high on hallucinogens', but."
Tazlee says, "We used to catch frogs in my village and use them for the super potent poison it produced. We used it to hunt dangerous animals and, uh, the hunters thinned it with water and drank it to experience future hunts, uh-huh."
Dmex asks, "Not fatal, right?"
Dmex says, "I've had enough lethal poisons in my body."
Tazlee says, "It's not lethal! If you thin it enough, I mean."
