- “THE KING OF NOTHING”
- Alone,
- Home alone.
- The phone is the light source
- For a king,
- In a lonely throne.
- He scrolls up and down
- Something to distract his own
- To lock his lips in neutral
- So not a frown was shown.
- A facade of stone
- To hide something grown.
- He longs for a queen
- Though he is unknown.
- He lies on an expensive bed,
- Meant for two, newly wed,
- Honeymoon fantasies in his head
- Come stopping dead
- Because a truth once said;
- He inherited the crown,
- And wealth, and fertile ground,
- It will all come crashing down,
- For a thought profound;
- His visage of stone,
- On his lonely throne,
- Attracted nil,
- For a face so still,
- For emotions killed,
- Is a sign of fear.
- It was ever clear,
- To be unrevered,
- To be mocked by peers,
- Brought bitter tears.
- Such things are never shown,
- For the king remained alone,
- No eyes gazed upon his throne,
- In fear of being thrown into jail,
- Where flesh was ripped from bone.
- With a face of stone,
- And tears unknown,
- The king was home.
- Home, alone.
