I draw the pen across my arm.
Old, so old, little more than a whittled feather
But that's the way it has to be
Romantic, dramatic
A spell and a spectacle

I gasp
Partly in pain
Partly in pleasure
Art is suffering
Right?

I draw it across the page
It burns so good
My words are always better...
When painted in misery
