  29. [8:38:33 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne nods and walks back to the war table. Looking over the maps a final time, she makes a note of the distance between Athyff and the Palace to the east.
  30. [8:39:59 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The Palace is ten miles east of Athyff. From the talk you've picked up during your time at this land, the closer you get, the more lifeless the land gets.]
  31. [8:42:26 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne takes a deep breath before walking towards the entrance; securing her helmet as she waits by the door.

  33. [8:46:36 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey runs up to the gate holding her hat to her head
  34. [8:47:08 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> Geez, take a few extra minutes to get ready and you guys just decide to leave without me?
  35. [8:48:25 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [There is a clattering as Dorai gears up. After everything, he puts on his scowling-masked helmet as he comes over to the door.]

  37. [8:49:05 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> Oh, I wasn't even the slow one. Huh.

  71. [9:18:22 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> Could be some kind of advance watchtower. We might be in for a real bad time if that place is as full of them as I think it is.

  82. [9:23:14 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey sighs and waits for Hanne and Lilaa to get some distance ahead before she makes her way towards the wall

  84. [9:27:35 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The area within the yard is well kept, relative to the rest of this land, the grass is kept in check, and there are even flow beds with something strange emerging. You even see people doing the groundskeeping, though they are emaciated, slow, and clothed in rags. They stare blankly at whatever they were tending to, not noticing your approach.]

  91. [9:36:07 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey takes her hat off and and peeks just enough over the wall to see the gardeners and retakes her position kneeling by the wall

  93. [9:38:46 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne stares pensively at the tip of her sword.

  95. [9:41:05 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne takes another peek, this time counting how many individuals there are and looking for anything that could identify their affiliation.

  98. [9:43:15 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey looks over the wall once more to see if there are any signs of what has happened to the gardeners
  99. [9:43:32 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [There are three of them that you can see, all of them wearing the literal rags of whatever is left of their old clothes. They're carrying whatever they're using to keep the yard in check.]
  100. [9:44:56 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The people in the yard looked to have been broken somehow, but it's as likely that they were made like this through non-magical means as magical ones.]
  101. [9:46:00 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> I'm not really seeing anything that looks like magic that did this to them. What the hell is going on here?
  102. [9:47:10 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Lilaa> Nyormal slabes, then. Nyot myagic. Is no secret—starbed, whipped, hurt, broken.
  103. [9:47:57 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Lilaa> Maybe Dominyon, maybe others. But job is to find and kill. Should kill these or nyo?
  104. [9:49:03 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> Even if we sneak by them what's going to happen to them when we leave?
  105. [9:49:59 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Even then we'd need to see what's in the house. Their master, probably. In any case I say we take the three outside then storm the house.

  107. [9:50:17 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> Wait.
  108. [9:51:15 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> I don't really think taking them out is going to be quiet. If we can sneak by them we might be able to surprise whoever or whatever is in there, then after we take care of them we can come out and...deal with them.
  109. [9:51:39 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Lilaa> Agreed, that is choice to make.
  110. [9:52:10 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> You want to take the house first?
  111. [9:52:44 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> Yeah, what are they gonna do? They can barely even take care of some grass in their state!

  113. [9:53:23 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Alright. Lets circle around to the front.
  114. [9:54:20 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Lilaa nods.
  115. [9:55:32 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The front gate is east-facing, and you circle around to it. When you get there, you see there are two more people toiling away on the side obstructed by the large house itself. On the inside of the gate is a neatly swept stone path heading straight to the front door.]

  117. [9:56:46 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne checks the gate for a locking mechanism.
  118. [9:56:56 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The gate has a simple latch, there is no lock.]
  119. [9:58:39 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Lilaa> This broken, maybe. But maybe scream or raise alarm. Still is risk.

  121. [10:03:53 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey grabs a small stone from the foot of the wall and tosses it as close to one of the gardeners as she can
  122. [10:05:30 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Frey's throw doesn't actually land that close, but the moment the stone touches the ground, that gardener hurries over and picks it out of the grass to deposit in one of the flower beds.]
  123. [10:06:37 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> They're a lot more aware than I was expecting.
  124. [10:07:09 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> I'm thinking we'll have to kill them to get to the house. Or at the very least knock them out.

  138. [10:17:51 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey jumps up, arm extended, and hesitates as the gardeners don't seem to respond

  140. [10:18:42 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Lilaa stays just behind her, waiting for her to clear the path.

  143. [10:19:56 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne reaches the door and stacks up before looking back at the situation in the yard.
  144. [10:21:09 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey follows the path Hanne took and stares at one of the gardeners as she walks

  146. [10:22:35 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Lilaa stands slowly out of her crouch and walks warily behind Frey, keeping her eyes on the gardners.

  148. [10:24:35 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The gardeners mill about, sluggishly going on with their duties as if you were not there.]

  152. [10:28:45 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey keeps her back to Hanne and watches the gardeners for any sign of unusual activity

[10:29:11 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The door is a fancy one, to suit the scale of this manor; but like the rest of the building, it has not been adequately kept up to shape, not helped by the fact that it looks like it was once torn off its hinges. Regardless, there is a knocker on the door, styled as a falcon's head holding a large loop of rope.]
  154. [10:34:03 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne reaches for the door knob, but then stops. She then motions for Dorai and Lilaa to ready themselves beside the door before standing up in front of it.
  155. [10:35:05 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Lilaa snaps to one side of the door, ready to pounce with her dagger.
  156. [10:36:30 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne takes a deep breath before reaching for the knocker and knocking on the door.
  157. [10:41:42 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [There is a bit of a wait, but eventually the door opens noisily. On the other side of the threshold stands a housemaid, judging by her impeccably composed attire, and is not emaciated or otherwise sickly in appearance. She stares expressionlessly at Hanne.]
  158. [10:43:27 PM CDT] * [Mirr]_Frey turns her head just enough to see who has opened the door
  159. [10:43:32 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne waits a moment before addressing the maid:

  161. [10:43:59 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Uh, who is the master of this house?
  162. [10:44:30 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne grips her sword tightly as she speaks.
  163. [10:46:51 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Maid: This manor is the property of Lady Niyl. What is your business here?
  164. [10:48:58 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne stops to think before replying.
  165. [10:50:38 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Your lady. Does she serve the Dominion?

  189. [11:20:21 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Let's try this again. We're scouts affiliated with the Coalition. Our business with this house is that we simply wish to know whose side you're on.

  192. [11:23:53 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne turns to Frey before turning back to the maid as if that was her answer as well.

  194. [11:24:27 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Lilaa glares at Frey before looking sharply back to the maid.

  196. [11:26:00 PM CDT] <[Mirr]_Frey> If we were threatening you I would have said we're /going/ to do something terrible to your house, we're trying to avoid that
