  1. Technically, they never had a proper 'good morning' since their relation is basically timeless. The clockwork is different while they are working, also when they are just automatically sleeping as though a robot running out of battery. They would stay longer for paperwork, stay awake for countless hours to do calculations, then repeat. Perhaps narcolepsy is a sign that their body had given up instead of it being side effects of their Oripathy.
  2.
  3. Yes, Silence is not alone--hence the 'us'.
  4.
  5. That 'morning', just like any morning, she opened her eyes in her quarter, papers flying upon her awakening. She was buried in it, together with a pair of warm pillow and blanket that she knew didn't belong to her. Birds don't rely on scenting but they know for a single sniff that the scent does not belong to them, but another bird.
  6.
  7. The floor of Rhodes Island's quarter might be cold but Ptilopsis always come to Silence's place prepared: a thick blanket for two, a roll mat for two, and two pillows.
  8.
  9. Silence has yet to find her glasses, but Ptilopsis should be sleeping right beside her. She could feel her breath, she could see a blur of white.
  10.
  11. "Dr. Silence has awakened, the time is 0422."
  12.
  13. Oh, how embarrassing it is that the white owl has caught her staring. Even though she can't see anything, it is still embarrassing.
  14.
  15. "This is your glasses."
  16.
  17. Ptilopsis helped them to her round spectacles. The lenses are cleaned, Silence never had a time to do one. Her vision focused to Ptilopsis on the makeshift bed, missing her jacket. She watched Silence with rapt attention, almost unblinking. Her feathers were unkempt, but it wasn't that untidiness that Silence disliked. She just looked right charming, especially as she crooked a slight smile as she waited for Silence's input.
  18.
  19. "We didn't finish the report, I take it?" Silence accessed calmly.
  20.
  21. "No, but we still have approximately 3 hours before it is due," Ptilopsis paused, seemingly choosing her wording in mind. "Of 50 kinds of method we can use to cut off the time efficiently, I still want to spend that ... 'alone time' with you, Dr. Silence."
  22.
  23. "Ah." Silence promptly shifted in the blanket, aware from what happened that made their diligent selves strayed out from completing the report. "That's ... that's a good idea."
  24.
  25. "Then,"
  26.
  27. Those orange eyes were roaming, searching for something. Pointed. It was both cute and endearing to see Ptilopsis making her wants visible.
  28.
  29. "May I help you with a good morning kiss for starters then, Doctor?"
  30.
  31. "Permission granted."
