Then they looked before them and saw a castle standing in the middle of the open meadows, surrounded by rushing rivers and rings of wall, and there within loomed great, windowed halls. And as they approached the castle they saw that it was turning round faster than any wind; and above the battlements were archers of copper which fired with such power that no armour in the world could withstand their shots.
