  1. >It was always figured an Alicorn would have been the one to make a portal to another world.
  2. >Or at least the reality bending power of Discord.
  3. >In fact, it turned out to be a unicorn: Lyra Heartstrings.
  4. >She had spent so long dreaming of the strange creatures, so obsessive she was even asked to leave the Canterlot magic school.
  5. >Even still, she yearned for it so much, to see one, no hooves, two legs, hands, oh!
  6. >It got to the point that she was mimicking her own imagination in public.
  7. >Then she heard about Twilight Sparkle's adventure through the mirror. THIS WAS IT!!!
  8. >Yet, the Crystal Mirror was well-guarded under lock and key at the Crystal Empire by now... plus, it wasn't opening again anytime soon.
  9. >Lyra nearly makes the overly explanatory Magic princess pass out from all the questions she asks about the mirror and the world beyond it.
  10. >Many hours later, the minty unicorn is back home, pouring over her own dedicated years of notes and the new info she learned from Twilight.
  11. >Pacing mostly steadily on hindhooves, amber eyes nearly slits as she looks at the drawings, the words scattered on the walls and floor.
  12. >Suddenly, something connected! Lyra had it, the spell for a portal between the human and pony worlds!
  13. >Her horn glowed, her heart raced, she was burning to use it... but she knew she had to write it down just in case first.
  14. >Some parchment, a quill, some ink, unbelievable amounts of concentration.
  15. >In her excitement, it took a lot more parchment, crumpled piles of it around the room before she finally finished. Success!!!
  16. >It only took several more minutes before Lyra was set up to create the portal, saddlebags with some supplies - flower sandwiches, her lyre, the copied down spell.
  17. >Minty unicorn went down to her living room, rubbing forehooves together, then down to all fours, concentrating hard, brilliant gold swirling from her near-blinding horn and focused at a point towards her wall.
  18.
  19. >The whole house trembled from the force, the power!!! Books fell, dishes clattered, her favorite mug even crashed to the floor.
  20. >Still, a small orange swirl of magic remained following one more tremor of the house, Lyra left panting as her doorway formed.
  21. >She looked around for just a moment, surveying the damage... but not caring at the time, a short gallop and a jump sending her straight into the vortex, eyes opened wide... even as bright light overtook her.
  22. >It wasn't but a few moments before she could see again, standing in a room with a lot higher table and chairs.
  23. >But something had gone wrong! The minty unicorn looked down, still hooves! That's not how Twilight had described it at all!
  24. >She jumped up, able to stand on her hindhooves like usual... but it wasn't natural.
  25. >"Darn, darn, darn!" Lyra would cry out, hooves knocking against the floor as she jumped up and down.
  26. >Just then, a two-legged creature wearing pants, a shirt, and wielding a bat came rushing into the room!
  27. >It was a few moments of those sunglow eyes of the unicorn's staring up at that blank green face... before she nearly ran him over, jumping forward and clinging forelegs around his middle!
  28. >"I can't believe it!" she squealed, clutching around him with an 'oof' from her captor, tail swinging, horn and face running into his shoulder.
  29. "L-Lyra?" the human asked, bat dropped to the ground as he stared down incredulously at the little pony.
  30. >She blinked her eyes, looking back and up to that face again, questioning expression on her snout.
  31. >"Yes, that's... me?" she actually asked, unsure how he would know that. "Who are you?"
  32. >Her forelegs still hugged him tight despite this awkward first meeting.
  33. "I'm uhh... Anon," he introduced himself, arms looking unsure if they wanted to close the distance around the mint-colored unicorn. "I watch your show all the time."
  34. >'Show?' Lyra asked herself, still staring up at him, the human's cheeks changing color from the confused stare.
  35.
  36. >"That's nice," she replied, uncertain of what to say in turn.
  37. >She looked over to that empty hand, though, tail twitching, horn softly glowing as the hug was broken just so her forehooves could grab his wrist, forcing his palm flat on her nose.
  38. >The unicorn trembled as she just nuzzled into the grip, mumbling some happy noises as the human shivered too.
  39. >This would be the start of something wonderful for them both.
