- Concussions are very common.
- They are the least serious form of traumatic brain injury.
- Concussions are a brain injury where the brain gets “tossed around” inside the head, commonly caused through sports injuries.
- Symptoms include dizziness, nausea (the feeling that you need to vomit), loss of memory, and loss of consciousness.
- Sometimes, players return to the game when they shouldn’t.
- Recovery depends on how severe (serious) the injury is.
- Diagnosing a concussion is usually straightforward.
- Doctor will ask (possibly silly) questions and check reflexes.
- If serious, a brain scan will be performed.

- “The professor describes the causes and symptoms of concussions. Using points and examples from the lecture, describe the causes and symptoms of a concussion.”
