Reise and Eloise chat

(12:06:54 AM) Reise: With the trip to War taken care of, and her trio of new bits of "property" stowed, for now, at least (she'd taken the time to try to let at least Soldier 93 in on her plan, though with orders to not tell the other two, not yet), Reise is back in the workshop on the Serpent, tinkering with her armor again.
(12:09:18 AM) Ikiryo: Soldier 93 is confused but willing to do anything for Reise! Reise is amazing!
(12:09:41 AM) Ikiryo: As she's working on her armour she hears the faint sound of someone talking nearby in the cargo bay...
(12:10:42 AM) Reise: Curiosity gets the better of her after a few moments, and she puts in a request to have the ship pipe a camera feed for the cargo bay to an AR window nearby.
(12:11:38 AM) Ikiryo: ...the cameras show nothing, the bay seemingly empty. Which is weird, as she can hear it just on the other side of the wall between the workshop and the cargo bay.
(12:14:23 AM) Reise: She sighs loudly. Great, more ghost or spirit bullshit. She puts down her tools and removes the face mask, brushing sweat off her forehead with a work glove before shucking those, too, and lightly stepping for the door permitting entry to the bay.
(12:16:37 AM) Ikiryo: She catches the slightest glimpse of a a green flash as she turns the corner, spotting Eloise sitting up on a cargo crate and leaning back against the wall. "Heya."
(12:19:32 AM) Ikiryo: The Adepta Sororitas is dressed in short shorts, a tank top and her jacket. She looks like she just finished some exercise as she plays with her hair.
(12:22:07 AM) Reise: She waves at the sister. "Talking to a friend of yours? I heard voices."
(12:23:09 AM) Ikiryo: "Oh...not much." She shakes her head. According to the local systems, no one was using the communications of the ship...
(12:24:41 AM) Reise: "Alright. Well, let me know if you're gonna try to summon demons here on the ship, or if any of the toys you found are taking over your mind. I'd appreciate the advance warning."
(12:26:28 AM) Ikiryo: "I wouldn't do anything like that. I'm Adepta Sororitas and Chosen." She shakes her head, frowning slightly. "I'm well protected from such things."
(12:29:04 AM) Reise: "Maybe, but we all get weird things happening that shouldn't, like Khaira being sorta but not really a ghost and Q--North--having those weird files in her head and like I thought my career was safe and then I got sent to Sigil to have people take pictures of me in my underwear. Did you ever have that happen? I mean, at least I get paid..."
(12:30:32 AM) Ikiryo: She blinks a few times, her confusion letting Reise notice two things. One, there is a faint green being concealed by her fringe and that she's clearly trying to hide it. "I'm pretty good at staying out of photos if I don't want to be..."
(12:36:56 AM) Reise: "Well, it's not TOO bad, it kinda grows on you after a while, even if it's still hard work and stuff. Gets you all used to people being in your face and messing with you a lot, too. Like when I have to sit down for makeup and it takes them like an hour and they're messing with my face all the time. It's like having flies buzz right around your eyelashes so you try to flinch but then they grab you like this"
(12:36:56 AM) Reise: --She reaches up and grabs Eloise's cheeks with one hand, using the Sororitas' confusion to hold her head steady while the other hand reaches up to brush her hair back...
(12:37:40 AM) Ikiryo: ...there is an odd symbol on her forehead, glowing faintly. A complex rune.
(12:37:57 AM) Ikiryo: "Wait...ah...dammit."
(12:39:34 AM) Ikiryo: She gives an uneven smile. "...I never said what I was chosen OF."
(12:44:25 AM) Reise: She stares at the symbol for, frankly, a long, increasingly uncomfortable time. Her own expression shifts to confused. "...Okay," she says finally, "how the *fuck* does that work?"
(12:44:59 AM) Ikiryo: "...umm...officially it doesn't. I wasn't supposed to let that get found out." She sighs again.
(12:46:23 AM) Reise: "Huh." She lets go of Eloise's face. "Uh. Sorry for grabbing your face."
(12:47:27 AM) Ikiryo: "...I was supposed to pull some strings to get things going the right way...but I'm not very good at that. I'm an archeologist, not a manipulator."
(12:47:55 AM) Reise: "Well doesn't THAT just spawn all kinds of questions. You as new to the job as I am?"
(12:49:21 AM) Ikiryo: She shakes her head. "Doesn't work like that with us. I've had the job since I was four years old...I'm just normally assigned to things that I don't suck at. Rather than 'Pretend to not know about these people and get onto the ship at the station so you can pull strings'"
(12:49:59 AM) Reise: "Pretend not to know? Who, us?"
(12:53:18 AM) Ikiryo: "About this ship or any of you. I was sort of given a dossier before I was sent to the medical station." She rubs the back of her head, looking a tad guilty.
(12:55:23 AM) Reise: "Alright, first thing's first. I'm not mad." She shrugs. "You already know, then, just how much undercover shit I do. And while the cover's fun times and can really be a needed distraction from the real job..." she finishes with a leading tone. "I'm saying I get it. Your secret's safe with me, by the way."
(12:56:19 AM) Ikiryo: "I figured it would be." She nods. "If this was Khaira I might have needed to apply the Amnesia Mallet a few times to keep it secret."She gives a hint of a smile.
(12:58:22 AM) ***Reise chuckles. "Maybe. But then, she does usually kind of have that one oracle chick's thing going on, where you can never tell if what she's saying is bullshit or just crazy talk, or if it's real."
(12:59:46 AM) Ikiryo: "I mean, regulations say I should apply the amnesia mallet to you...but I'd rather not start a fight and I don't like doing so."
(1:03:00 AM) Reise: "Regs are meant to be broken anyway." She shrugs. "Or do you think my armor's still standard issue?"
(1:04:13 AM) Ikiryo: "The jacket isn't for me. Not supposed to keep stuff job to job." She smirks. "I was just supposed to turn up in the regulation short shorts and size too small tank top. I am not even kidding. Fucking department of Serenity."
(1:04:59 AM) ***Reise imagines that for a minute. "So...somewhere between Dryad, Satyxis, and Department of Excess. Got it."
(1:09:01 AM) Ikiryo: "...sorta. Imagine the Department of Excess if it was run by Angels rather than Demons. I'm...not part of it but my superior for this operation is."
(7:53:15 AM) Reise: "Huh. So you get to have different bosses? Lucky."
(7:55:49 AM) Ikiryo: "You'd think so but that means they want different things for each mission." She gestures to her short shorts. "Case in point."
(7:56:16 AM) Reise: She smirks. "I feel sooooo bad for you~"
(7:59:01 AM) Ikiryo: She rolls her eyes. "This is dignified for Serenity."
(8:00:43 AM) Reise: "Meanwhile, I, with my one boss, am half a step away from a porn star," she deadpans. "Anyway...I gotta ask. Feel free not to answer. What sort of manipulation were you tasked with pulling off?"
(8:01:24 AM) Ikiryo: "...method or goal?" She sighs. "And if I worked for Serenity full time I wouldn't even be half a step away."
(8:02:16 AM) Reise: "Goal."
(8:03:53 AM) Ikiryo: "Preventing this place becoming a Daemon World."
(8:06:04 AM) Reise: "Bit late, huh?" She shrugs. "Though with the Big Nerd of Despair on the throne, I guess not."
(8:08:26 AM) Ikiryo: "It's not there yet." She shakes her head. "The sphere hasn't cracked open like an egg and let the warp flow in...which would be bad." She sticks out her tongue.
(8:11:24 AM) Reise: "Really? I never would have guessed that breaking the crystal barrier and flooding the place with the same nutso gunk that Khaira and Annandra know would be a bad plan." Her tone is witheringly sarcastic.
(8:15:22 AM) Ikiryo: "Well, I can't expect better. We in the Bureau of Destiny are wise beyond all knowing, so we are always happy to help our lessers~" Her tone matches Reise's.
(8:19:37 AM) Reise: She grins...and lets the power behind her new little trick flow, just a bit. A golden circle appears on her forehead, little wisps of power teasing her bangs apart to show it off. "Not quite that much lesser~"
(8:21:55 AM) Ikiryo: "Oh please~" She smirks. "All that means is I won three talents of jade in the betting pool~"
(8:26:31 AM) Reise: "I'm not sure if I should be flattered or worried that a bunch of ninjas who don't exist had bets on me."
(8:27:55 AM) Ikiryo: "Oh, you know one of us. And it's fate ninja bureaucrats, thank you very much. I have to do enough paperwork I deserve the full title."
(8:28:40 AM) Reise: "I know one? A different one than you?"
(8:28:55 AM) Reise: "...Wait."
(8:29:35 AM) Ikiryo: "Yes?~" She smirks.
(8:29:36 AM) Reise: She slaps a hand to her face and groans.
(8:31:16 AM) Reise: "Let me guess. About yea high"--she holds a hand to the middle of her chest--"dark skin, dark hair, likes to go barefoot, carries more sarcasm than any three grown adults."
(8:32:18 AM) Ikiryo: "...nah." She shakes her head. "We thought she was though for a while. Secrets nabbed her for a full days to check."
(8:32:35 AM) Reise: "Huh. Well, that's a...relief? I guess?"
(8:32:48 AM) Reise: "She just has something ELSE ultra-spooky going on, then."
(8:32:50 AM) Ikiryo: "You guess?"
(8:33:10 AM) Reise: "Eloise, have you ever spent more than 5 minutes around her?"
(8:33:34 AM) Ikiryo: "I AM from Secrets. We have 17 people in the entire departments."
(8:34:33 AM) Reise: "Not sure if that's a yes or a no. Anyway, whatever's going on there, the creepiest part is she's like eleven years old."
(8:35:11 AM) Ikiryo: "I've met her, yes. For some reason, my usual disguises don't work on her." She nods. "Oh?"
(8:35:59 AM) Reise: "I can handle weird shit from adults. This?" She points at Eloise's forehead, whether the green-glowing symbol is there or not. "No big deal. But if you were actually just a little kid instead? THEN it gets unnerving."
(8:40:30 AM) Ikiryo: "Oh, if you'd like." She gestures in the air...and a small child is standing before Reise. It more or less looks like a child version of Eloise.
(8:41:15 AM) Reise: She groans and facepalms again. "Not what I meant," she growls.
(8:41:51 AM) Reise: "Anyway I guess whoever else from your little cadre that I may or may not have met remains with their identity safely hidden still, so there's that going for you."
(8:42:11 AM) Ikiryo: She gestures again and soon looks like her normal self. "Annoyingly, she saw right through that. Right after I spent a few hours making the disguise."
(8:43:20 AM) Reise: "See? Creepy little kid. Glad she's approximately on our side, though. And that she's Mayu's friend." Her voice softens. "I never met her before now but I'd be willing to bet that Moriko would say Mayu never really HAD friends until now."
(8:44:54 AM) Ikiryo: "Can't say. Our notes on her and her mother are suprisingly sketchy." She shrugs. "But yeah, want to take a guess on the other spy?~"
(8:47:44 AM) ***Reise purses her lips and spends nearly a minute running through her mental roster of people she knows. "...I can't honestly think of anyone who might fit. If you're willing to spill, great, but..."
(8:51:15 AM) Ikiryo: "Well, they work for Serenity. That's a clue~"
(8:52:49 AM) Reise: She rolls her eyes. "If you're about to say that Krystal's one of you guys too, I might have to do something drastic."
(8:53:54 AM) Ikiryo: "What sort of drastic?~"
(8:54:43 AM) Reise: "I haven't figured it out yet."
(8:56:33 AM) Ikiryo: "Nah, not her." She shakes her head. "I'll give you another clue then: They are the reason you run about in your underwear...honestly, they are the reason I'm running about in barely more than that too."
(8:59:05 AM) Reise: "Well, that doesn't narrow it down much," she says bluntly. "Could be anyone from my boss at the precinct, to my agent, to one of the photographers, to someone *inside* Horizon working on whatever project I'm actually there to look into."

(9:03:37 AM) Reise: She groans even louder than when she suspected it was Jaela. "You've got to be *fucking* kidding me. That damned battleaxe? I thought she just hated me for looking better than her in the uniform but now it's because she's part of some grand secret order that thinks they pull strings on everything?"
(9:03:50 AM) Reise: "Gods...she better *hope* I never make it back home."
(9:05:10 AM) Ikiryo: "She's the reason I got assigned to help you. Well, that and try to pull strings to get you to agree to do porn. See: Serenity. You mind if I just say I failed there?"
(9:08:43 AM) Reise: "I like sex but no way would I do it on camera. So yeah, you can tell her that I was on the edge until I accidentally got my own thing." She gestures to her own forehead. "I'd be interested to hear about her reaction to *that* news."
(9:08:59 AM) Reise: She descends into irritated muttering for a few moments.
(9:09:54 AM) Ikiryo: "You know the worst part? The old battleaxe thing is a disguise. The bitch is the same age as me, she's just a lot better at office politics. I'm nowhere near good enough at being enigmatic to rise fast in secrets."
(9:10:35 AM) Reise: "I wonder if that means I can get away with insubordination>"
(9:13:02 AM) Ikiryo: "She's got an embarassing but not dangerous cheese allergy if that helps."
(9:13:59 AM) ***Reise barks a laugh. "Now *that* is good to know, thanks."

(9:26:42 AM) Ikiryo: She nods "If it helps, I lied to you guys as little as possible. I AM all I claimed to be...just also some other stuff."
(9:28:35 AM) Reise: "Eh." She waves Eloise off. "Like I said. I do undercover work. I understand the need for secrecy."
(9:31:09 AM) Ikiryo: "Suprised you havn't asked more about who the hell we are and who we answer to."
(9:32:35 AM) Reise: "I'm used to people who are surprised by that, telling me on their own," she smirks. "But if I asked who your Department of *Secrets*"--she stresses the word--"are and what you do...would I really have gotten a straight answer?" She smirks.

(9:34:17 AM) Ikiryo: "Oh, maidens no. I like you, I also like my job~"
(9:37:02 AM) ***Reise chuckles. "There we go. I *am* curious...but I'm smart enough to know I'd get nothing for asking~"

(9:38:40 AM) Reise: "Don't worry about it. Just, uh, try not to fuck with me in whatever weird Fate-related way that you can do, for my even knowing it exists."

(9:42:30 AM) Reise: "Fair enough. Kinda like everything else, eh?" She nods...and pats Eloise on the shoulder. "Good luck. The Lilies' concert is soon...and we're going to be getting the *really* crazy shit underway, so I need to finish this upgrade to my armor before I leave maintenance panels exposed in a fight. I'd offer you to come watch, but unless you're an expert on N-dimensional cross-matrix matter translation, it might be kinda boring."

(9:45:07 AM) ***Reise nods. "Figured. I'm sure Q's gonna want to have a sitdown to figure out exactly what we're gonna be doing later, so I'll see you around then."
(9:45:50 AM) Ikiryo: "Not if I see you first~" She laughs. "Maybe I'll get approval to change out of the 'Convince Annandra' outfit I was assigned."
(9:47:15 AM) Reise: "Well, they probably think your two options there are 'Rebellious Teen Chic' or 'Bloodthirsty Murderer.' She IS a Khornite."
(9:47:29 AM) Reise: "Speaking for myself, I'm grateful for the Rebellious Teen Chic."
(9:48:45 AM) Ikiryo: "Yeah but I'd really like to hear a justification for why I've been assigned to be something other than 'We think one of them is really suggestable to girls with big tits and short shorts.' I'm a professional."
