  1. New C9 Ending
  2.
  3. Narshen: Considering the amount of effort you've placed into these bullheaded assaults I suppose I should commend you on your survival.
  4. Roy: Hell of a time for tasteless tactics, huh?
  5. Narshen: Indeed. But if I'm right to assume that this is all the Lycian Alliance can muster, then I must say, I'm very disappointed.
  6. Roy: Assumptions lead to mistakes, Narshen.
  7. Narshen: Still a little fight in you? Good! I like that. Your eyes haven't lost their defiance and hatred. Angry at your loss and in no position to begin to do anything about it. What a gloomy disposition. Here, I'll let you in a little idea I've been throwing around for after I've snuffed the life out of you and allow my mount to to feast upon your fatty, destroyed body. I will ruin your lands, despoil your boot-licking citizenry, raze the peasantry, scour the countryside for survivors, let my men have their fun with the fair maidens you've accrued, and then smear that pathetic state off the face of Elibe. But today, I'm feeling charitable: I'll give you a free shot. Come on. Right on the nose. Just try and be the hero Lycia deserves. Going once.
  8. Roy: ...
  9. Narshen: Going twice.
  10. Roy: ... (shuts eyes, a look of utter defeat)
  11. Narshen: Do keep in mind that I haven't done any wrong in my actions. After all, murder harbors no pleasure... especially when dealing with lives as inconsequential as your own! Die!
  12. ~Aircalibur hits Narshen~
  13. Narshen: What was--?! Who desires death?!
  14. Cecilia: Stand down, General Narshen.
  15. Narshen: The Etrurian Army?! How... you! You brat! You sent for help?! I'll tear out your throat!
  16. Percival: Is this one of Bern’s famous Dragon Lords? Disappointing. Do you really think your army is in a state to withstand the combined forces of the Mage and Knight Generals of Etruria?
  17. Narshen: Mercy? As a joke, it's sheer ignorance, but your supposed sarcasm's even worse.
  18. Percival: Yes. Mercy. The very same you planned to show the world which you would have willingly sacrificed in your country's pathetic, shallow bid for immortality.
  19. Narshen: Peh! The only future mercy tends to offer is war, fellow! Why is it the weak seem to do things in the flashiest manner when an army is behind them? Tch! Commander!
  20. Soldier: Yes, sir?
  21. Narshen: Send the order to withdraw! The Alliance will fall another day!
  22. Cecilia: A wise choice. And yet…
  23. ~Elfire~
  24. ~Narshen's portrait rumbles as if struck~
  25. Narshen: !! Damnable wench! ...That singed my fingernails...!
  26. Cecilia: To avoid pain is impossible. Accepting it is difficult. Succumbing to it is not an option, so in this, we fight. Take this message to your leader: Etruria stands with Pherae.
  27. Narshen: Save your optimism for those jesting revolutionaries. I will return to crush you, and throw you into the wind!
  28. Cecilia: The gulf between what you knew and what you understand is far vaster than the space you take for granted.
  29. Narshen: You...!
  30. ~Narshen threatens to approach~
  31. ~Percival advances in front of Cecilia~
  32. Percival: Counting on dying, are you?
  33. Narshen: How cute. But let me warn you, anyone who is careless enough to approach once my back is turned will die!
  34. ~Narshen leaves~
  35. Cecilia: Roy, are you okay?
  36. Roy: Er--Miss Cecilia? Ugh...
  37. Cecilia: You're injured, but the wound doesn't appear to be fatal. Remain still. We'll get a healer on you as soon as possible, Roy.
  38. Percival: I'll take a unit and secure the perimeter to ensure Bern's full withdrawal.
  39. Cecilia: Thank you, Percival. Be careful.
  40. ~Percival leaves~
  41. Roy: The others...
  42. Cecilia: What?
  43. Roy: T-tend to the others first.
  44. Cecilia: If the exsanguination doesn't get you, then shock will. You need to be recovered. Now.
  45. Roy: But--
  46. Cecilia: Roy, listen to your teacher. The ride won't be pleasant, but thankfully it is short. Here, I'll assist you. Get on.
  47. Roy: I'm… I’m sorry. I failed as a leader…
  48. Cecilia: These are desperate times and the odds were against your favor. Under the circumstances, however, you've performed to the best of your ability which was all anyone could have hoped for. Don't undersell your accomplishments. You've done your part. Now we have to do ours.
  49.
  50. Guinevere: I just heard Lord Roy has been critically injured after driving Narshen back. I wish to see him!
  51. Alan: Hey--hey, easy there, Princess! Calm down!
  52. Guinevere: He was covered in wounds! Don't tell me to calm down!
  53. Lance: Princess Guinevere, if I may, I must ask that you keep your voice down. Master Roy is unconscious and us currently undergoing treatment.
  54. Guinevere: And that's why I have to see him! I can't...
  55. Wolt: If I may be so bold, can you use magic?
  56. Guinevere: N-no, but-
  57. Wolt: Then what use will you possibly be?
  58. Alan: Wolt! Watch your tone.
  59. Guinevere: My use?! Your commander was fending off one of the greatest threats in Bern's entire army and he returns in this position. You're supposed to be his bodyguard! What good were you?
  60. Lance: Princess!
  61. Wolt: ...I'm only saying that Roy is with the General Cecilia and Lady Lilina right now. Lady Lilina has been under tutelage of General Cecilia for all of her youth. And General Cecilia is one of the greatest assets the Lycian Alliance Army could have ever received. Certainly more than a traitorous sister of a blood-hungry tyrant.
  62. Guinevere: !! I--
  63. Alan: Wolt, you've gone way too far this time!
  64. Wolt: Come off of it! How do we know she isn't cahoots with Bern at this point? We were saved by the skin of our teeth by General Cecelia and the Grand Knight, Percival! All of our strategies went to shambles out there. Lance, you saw it yourself!
  65. Guinevere: You cannot incriminate me on such wild allegations!
  66. Wolt: Oh, am I? We went to battle and every single one of our defense measures were compromised! This isn't an issue of preparation, we were utterly routed! Sure, she says she's here for assistance but has yet to give us any intel on as to why this war is being waged-
  67. Marcus: Wolt, enough! I can understand your being distraught but at his rate you're doing Bern's work for them. Inner strife is not a priority, much less attacking your own allies. ... I apologize on his behalf, my princess. His outburst negates his passion and his worry as it does with us all.
  68. ~Wolt leaves~
  69. Guinevere: ... if I may, I desire to be at his side.
  70. Marcus: Forgive me, but I can't allow that, princess. General Cecilia is quite formidable in all areas of magic, yet this is an operation that requires absolute finesse. She cannot disturbed. Please understand.
  71. Guinevere: I ...of course. I still wish to be of assistance, however.
  72. Alan: In that case, you can pass out supplies to the returning troops and assist in the preparation of provisions. Master Roy won’t be having any visitors until he's regained consciousness.
  73. Lance: We all share your worry, but there is little in the way for us to be of immediate assistance without knowledge of the arcane.
  74. Marcus: And even those of us with magic cannot hope to heal all of his wounds.
  75. Guinevere: I… I see. Forgive me, I was overstepping my boundaries. I shall go pass around Vulneraries to the troops.
  76.
  77. Marcus: Hm? Alan, what are your thoughts?
  78. Alan: Personally, I think that Master Roy was wrong in keeping her from the battlefield.
  79. Lance: But she's far too important for that. Above all else, she needs to live.
  80. Alan: So does Master Roy, but that has not stopped his blade. Even if she was killed in battle, she would feel more accomplished there than sitting on the sidelines feeling like dead weight.
  81. Marcus: I see. Perhaps something can be done about that...
  82.
  83. (I'm eluding to the fact that since Guin, thanks to Lis and O, is going to be a playable unit in this game, that she first receives training from Marcus. Though we could easily ignore this idea and go with either self-training, Bern special forces training, or personal time with Roy. I'm more partial to he last option as in vanilla Guin had more face-time with Roy than Lilina and a romance between the two really isn't too off. Anyway, in the top event, it renders the following conversation completely moot, so I didn't touch it.)
  84.
  85. Wolt: Hey, that's enough out of you two! Roy. I mean, Master Roy made his decision. We're his soldiers and we have to abide whatever he commands.
  86. Alan: … getting lectured by Wolt?
  87. Lance: Surely, we’ve met with the end of days.
  88. Wolt: H-hey!
  89.
  90. Lilina: Will he be okay?
  91. Cecilia: Fret not; we've dressed his wounds. At this point it's a matter of exhaustion and recovering from excessive blood loss. He's been fighting since the war began, so his body needs to lay still for a moment’s time. The burden of leading an army composed of several thousand men and women is daunting for someone his age. Pherae employs one of the most elite Paladins to ever grace Elibe, Sir Marcus. Surely his tactical brilliance and battle prowess should be coming into play.
  92. Lilina: Roy isn't the kind of person to allow his duties to be--
  93. Cecilia: Roy should know his limits.
  94. Lilina: Roy would be the first to tell you he doesn't believe he has any limits. Bern should know that targeting him specifically won't get them any closer to victory. Not while Etruria and Ilia stands. I knew the they wouldn't go down without a fight, but this is different. They crossed the line.
  95. Cecilia: This is war, Lilina. I've mapped your reckless charges over the past few weeks. You squeezed them, and beat them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation, they've unleashed one of their top Generals. Who led a charge and nearly routed all of you. But some lessons can only be learned by risking one's life.
  96. Lilina: Well, you are famous for your excellence in educating and training warriors. Your graduates are always regarded as the best.
  97. Cecilia: And what was the lesson bestowed upon you to cause my students to push themselves to the brink?
  98. Lilina: Well, Roy would say that just because you don't want to fight does not mean that the enemy is not willing to kill you. Thus, somebody must exist to eliminate the troublemakers when they rise.
  99. Cecilia: How do you personally interpret that, Lilina?
  100. Cecilia: ...That during a person's lifetime, there are certain things they should do. And that doing those things is the best tribute you can offer to the loved ones you've lost.
  101. Cecilia: Not too far off from Roy. You two certainly have a strong relationship.
  102. Lilina: Thank you so much for coming, Miss Cecilia.
  103. Cecilia: Don't. Etruria intelligence saw this as an opportunity to engage Bern when they hadn't attacked us yet. If anyone, you should be thanking Percival; he supported me when the King stayed his permission.
  104. Lilina: You went against the king? For us?
  105. Cecilia: "Do you really think it’s smart to alienate these kids when they might be the only ones keeping us alive at the moment?". He couldn't provide me with an adequate answer. Tis ony coincidental that you two were leading the army.
  106. Lilina: ...Thank you, miss--...General, for the coincidence.
  107. Cecilia: It was nothing, lieutenant. ...Would you like me to leave you two alone?
  108. Lilina: Please.
  109.
  110. Lilina: ~Quietly sobbing over Roy~
  111. Guinevere: … I shouldn't disturb them...
  112. Lilina: Thank you Roy... for living...
  113. Guinevere: … yes, thank you...
  114.
  115. (If Roy is out, this could potentially leave Lilina and/or Guin as your primary Lord for a few chapters while Roy recovers. So, they can be, like, prerequisite/locked units heading into new chapters and have their name in fancy green glowing font and such.)
