  1. The History of the Stellarscape Universe
  2.
  3. The lore for the universe of Stellarscape begins in the year 2000. Before this year, human history and the history of Stellarscape are identical, so there is not much that needs to be clarified in the lore. Another thing to note about the Stellarscape Lore, is that it is meant to be long and confusing. You can read about it if you want, but you don't really have to understand the whole of the lore if you want to understand what is going on in the game, since most people in the game world don't care about what happened several thousand years in the past. So, the lore is there if you are interested, but you aren't required to learn more about it.
  4.
  5. The lore goes from the year 2000 to the year 6000, when the events of the game will take place. This means that an incredibly long period of time has passed since an era we are more familliar with, so humanity as we know it now no longer exists. To generalize the lore, each millenia has been catagorized bellow:
  6.
  7. * The 2000 Millenia - This is the period where humanity first gets its feet wet with space travel. In the early years of this millenia, humanity was still bound mostly to earth, though there were mining colonies built throughout the Solar System. Eventually, mankind left the Solar System after the discovery of FTL travel, and the various powers of Earth fought each other for control of new terretories. However, space travel was incredibly slow during this period, and mankind barely reached over 50 light years away from its home system. The terreforming of mars began during this era, and was completed by the end of the millenia, which quickly attracted almost 5 billion migrants from earth who were seeking a new world away from the polution and crime of city life. Various corporations sent out colony ships to far away star systems, in attempt to build new profitable enterprises. Life on the frontier was incredibly dangerous, with pirates around every corner, while civilization closer to earth was very civilized and advanced. Earth remained the center of humanity for this entire millenia, though it became incredibly overcrowded and polluted with 21 billion people. About half a thousand years through this millenia, humanity met their first neighbors in the stars: the Kephlarites. The two sepcies quickly mingled and shared ideas. Meanwhile, Earth began to dwindle in power, and budding worlds like Nova and Foundry fought or earned independence from the powers of Earth. The powers of Earth found themselves in an interestallar conflict over resources, and several exchanges of weapons of mass destruction resulted in massive loss of life. In the coming years after this war, humanity slowly rebuilt their homeworld, and the planet became united as a single nation. Meanwhile, spacetravel became much faster, and new technologies greatly increased the average human lifespan to 100 years. In regions of space that were previously frontier territory dominated by pirate gangs and warlords, corporations swept in and forcefully brought order. Many corporations gained extreme power in the later centuries of this era, and they took over several smaller governments, and then fought amonsgst each other for territories in what were known as the Turf Wars. By the end of this millenia, mankind was spread out about roughly 150 light years, though explorers had gone as much as 400 light years away. Also in the later years of this century, electronic augmentation became popular for non-medical uses, and people purposfully replaced body parts with mechanical parts in order to improve themselves. This trend alarmed many, and was looked down upon, largley in a simillar manner tatoos are looked down upon by society today.

  9. * The 3000 Millenia - In the 3000 era, many singularities occured, and mankind hit a point of no return. In this era, the human domain streched to cover almost 500 light years of territory. The millenia began without much change in human society, but in the second century, major advancements in gene manitpulation allowed humanity to do something they had only theorized in the past: produce human clones. Not only could clones be developed, but new technologies allowed mankind to produce "designer children" for wealthy individuals to order, and brought about the first generations of genitically engineered human beings. In the fourth century of this millenia, there became a one to one ratio of normal humans to genetically engineered ones. At first, this had little effect on society. However, eventually these new humans formed their own belief, that they were better than non-genetically engineered human beings. Over time, this group grew in size, and several organizations of the genetically engineered tried to take over human governments. Genetic engineering was already outlawed in many human territories, and these events triggered more people to outlaw genetic engineering. But it was far too late, and Earth was soon at war with these radicals. Other worlds, like Foundry, Nova, Swyke, Keph, and Ouda, remained neutral to this conflict, and failed to intervene. However, after almost two decades of bloodshed, the conflict on earth was almost over, with the radicals in charge of human society. These new governments had begun the extermination of non-enhanced humans, simply by not letting them reproduce. Laws were enacted, that forced all alien species living in their territory to be forced into slavery. In order to build a massive army, the genetically engineered humans began to produce hundreds of millions of clones which were designed to live only 10 years, but mature very fast. The other human and xeno worlds, which had tried to stay away from the conflict on Earth, soon found themselves fighting for their own independence. However, they were extremely outmatched, and the entirety known space was in the control of the Proto-Human species, which formed a new government called the Great Human Kingdom, the most powerful dictatorship of human history. By the end of this millenia, the human race was extinct, except for small bands of humans that hid on the fringes of human space. Also, humanity ran into two new sentient alien races during this period: the Ologog and the Hyresh, both of which were very primitive.
  10.
  11. * The 4000 Millenia - At the begening of this Millenia, The Great Human Kingdom enacted the creation of the X-designation planets: worlds that were barley habitable, and were chosen for alien slave colonies. The Great Human kingdom grows to reach 900 light years wide and blah blah blah.
  12.
  13. *The 5000 Millenia - The great human kingdom fractures. A great collapse occurs as weapons of mass destruction are exchanged, decimating entire planets of life. A dark era comes soon afterwards... The various proto-human and alien races begin to rebuild society...
  14.
  15. *7000 - The game begins.
