  5.
  6. >What is it?
  7. A Free-to-Play AARPG (think Diablo) MMO where you play as Marvel heroes.
  8.
  9. >What kind of free-to-play?
  10. The game allows almost all content (except for some exclusive costumes for pre-purchasers) to be gotten through drops in-game. You can play through the game and get every hero and nearly all costumes, as well as complete every mission without needing to spend money.
  11. But if you wanted to cut through the potential wait, all heroes, most costumes, and various convenience items are sold for real world cash.
  12.
  13. >How do I play?
  14. You can download the client straight from the site here: https://marvelheroes.com/download
  15. or you can download it through Steam.
  16. You also need to register for an account here: https://login.marvelheroes.com/registration.php?pcode=

  56. >>HEROES, COSTUMES, DROPS, AND THE CASH SHOP
  57.
  58. >How do I get heroes?
  59. You first start the game with a selection of one of 5 heroes that you can choose from (see above).
  60. After you complete the tutorial, you will randomly receive one of the 4 starter heroes you did not choose from.
  61. After the tutorial, the only methods you can use to obtain more heroes is through random drops as well as purchasing the hero directly from the store.
  62.
  63. >Which free character should I pick?
  64. That depends on your own preferences, but here's how each character plays to help you decide:
  65. Tank = Thing
  66. Agile Melee = Daredevil
  67. Ranged DPS = Hawkeye
  68. Ranged AoE = Scarlet Witch/Storm
  69.
  70. >Any tips for planning my hero?
  71. You can visit the following site to see other people's builds as well as plan your own:
  72. http://marvelbase.com/
  73.
  74.
  75.
  76. >What do costumes do?
  77. Costumes are primarily just cosmetic changes to a character to help you differentiate and customize your hero. By leveling up crafters, you can add and remove boosts to stats onto your costumes.
  78.
  79. >What are enhanced costumes?
  80. Enhanced costumes differ from regular costumes in that they do more to alter your character's appearance. They can alter your character's voice & dialogues, aura, as well as power effects. Just like regular costumes however, they are purely cosmetic.
  81.
  82. >How do I get costumes?
  83. Most costumes can be obtained from drops from mobs/bosses or purchased directly in the store.
  84. Some costumes are limited to fortune cards (randomized item packs), which can be gotten through end game grinding or purchased directly from the store. These exclusive costumes are:
  85. Captain America - The Captain
  86. Deadpool - Unmasked
  87. Iron Man - Stealth Armor
  88. Thor - Destroyer
  89. Wolverine - Days of Future Past
  90. Other costumes are limited "Chase" costumes. These cannot be bought, and can only be found via drops.
  91.
  92.
  93.
  94. >How do I specifically get Costumes and Characters to drop?
  95. Characters and Costumes only drop from Elite/Champion enemies (denoted by bright colored auras around only their hands or around the outline of their bodies, as well as colored names) and bosses.
  96.
  97. >I've been playing forever, and nothing seems to drop. How do I increase the rate?
  98. A few things affect your chances to get these drops, they are:
  99. Special Item Find % - This is a percent that can be boosted through gear, and temporarily through potions from certain missions and the cash shop. If you expect to find any characters or costumes in a reasonable amount of time, you MUST wear whatever gear you can to boost this.
  100. Rest Rate - Just like with how a character gets rested XP bonuses by not using them (being signed off or using another character), characters gain a rested bonus towards better drops. Keep this in mind to ensure that you give your other heroes love to let your main rest, and putting any more difficult dailies first when running them to ensure they get the better chances of dropping better stuff.
  101. First Boss Defeat Limit - Special Items are limited to the first time you defeat a boss with a character each day, both in normal missions as well as the dailies. Subsequent times defeating the boss will still yield experience and medallions, however.
  102.
  103. >When does the timer for bosses reset?
  104. The timer resets after 24 hours you first defeat them. So killing Shocker at 5pm on Monday will require you to wait until 5pm on Tuesday the next day to have another chance at Special Items.
  105.
  106. >What's the difference between Rare Item Find and Special Item Find?
  107. Rare Items are considered as high quality gear (Blue and up).
  108. Special Items are Costumes, Characters, Fortune Cards, and everything else.
  109.
  110.
  111.
  112. >How do I buy stuff from the store?
  113. You will need to buy Gs from MarvelHeroes.com. You can then buy whatever you'd like from store in-game.
  114.
  115. >What's the conversion of $ to Gs?
  116. $1.00 = 100Gs
  117. Larger G packs come with bonus G. (ie. $20 for 2100G)
  118.
  119. >How much do things cost?
  120. Prices vary on everything, with what's perceived by devs as more popular, costing higher.
  121. Characters range from 600g to 2000g. See: http://orcz.com/Marvel_Heroes:_Hero_Price
  122. Costumes range from 600g to 1500g.
  123.
  124. >That all seems pretty expensive. Is there any other way to get the hero I want?
  125. Besides waiting for drops, buying heroes is the only way. If you wanted to save money through multiple character bundles, Steam offers bundles of 4 characters, 8 costumes, and 10 fortune cards:
  126. $85 - X-Force Pack - Cable, Wolverine, Deadpool, Colossus
  127. http://store.steampowered.com/app/226334/
  128. $85 - Avengers Assemble Pack - Captain America, Iron man, Hulk, Ms. Marvel
  129. http://store.steampowered.com/app/226333/
  130. $80 - Knights Pack - Spider-Man, Wolverine, Punisher, Black Panther

  136.
  137. >How do I level up vendors/crafters?
  138. Alt-Right Click an item you don't want while talking to a vendor or crafter to give them XP towards raising their level.
  139. These levels remain across all heroes on your account.
  140.
  141. >What do levels on a vendor/crafter do?
  142. For vendors, higher levels mean that they sell better gear.
  143. For crafters, higher levels give you more options for crafting items or upgrading/downgrading equipment.
  144.
  145. >How do I reset skill points?
  146. Retcon devices can be found as a rare drop from mobs/bosses and can be purchased directly in the store. You also receive one from a story mission.
  147.
  148. >How do I reset missions?
  149. In every base, there is is an NPC that will allow you to jump to previously completed chapters, allowing you to revisit missions with new and old characters.
  150.
  151. >What are ultimate powers?
  152. Ultimate Powers are unlocked at level 30 and can only be improved by finding drops of the same character (Cyclops character tokens to boost Cyclops' ultimate power).
  153.
  154. >Is there a /co/ guild?
  155. Guilds are not yet implemented, but you can visit the PasteBin to see who is willing to play:
  156. http://pastebin.com/mMWFxC7J
  157. There is also a Steam Group you can join until an official guild is made:
